Re: Redskins agree to terms with CB Tracy Porter

I just remember Porter baiting Manning in the SB, picking it off and sealing the game for New Orleans. Not sure what's been going on with him lately but I always liked this guy. I like guys that have man cover and ball skills. Seems like this is what type of defense we're going to have, blitz and man up on the corners. I like this move if he can get back to his old ways. Hopefully with a better pass rush this year he'll make more plays. Good signing here.

To me it comes down to what's guaranteed. Now we have three guys at corner with ball skills. I like this move.

I kinda still want to add one more corner.

I hope the guarantee is room and board until September , and if he makes the team a small bonus... vet minimum

We need to add a corner and a couple of safeties.

We're set at corner I think. Also, we have two guys that were drafted there in Rambo and Thomas. I have 0 confidence in Rambo as he showed that the NFL was just too big for him. Thomas is an interesting prospect and we need to see what he can do. I'd like us to sign one safety.

4 yrs 28 mil for tracy effing porter?

we've been penny pinching on everyone decent at positions of need but ... spend twenty eight million dollars on tracy effing porter.

im just assuming this is a joke.

we could have kept biggers for a slot corner or let crawford or one of the depth guys step in .... 28 million for a below average no 3 corner?

I feel like this move was made because their first options didn't pan out. I've never been very impressed by him but he has made some plays. I think he's a gambler in the mold of D.Hall. We'll see if this pans out.

Keim says he is signed as the third corner and is better at man than zone.

Burgundy Glasses On: Okay, that makes sense and seems to fit the scheme. Should be quality signing if we aren't relying on him to be the No.2 corner and Amerson steps up.

Burgundy Glasses Off: WTF? Tracy "2 steps behind you" Porter? Working on his 4th team in four years? Smells like desperation to me.

Wow. Oakland's pass defense last year was terrible - 5th most yards/pass attempt (7.9). We were tied with Atlanta and San Diego for slots 2-4 at 8.0.

I am sure it was not ALL Porter's fault, but ...

We upgraded from Biggers - at least Porter makes some plays - but the margin of upgrade is not large.

Re: Redskins agree to terms with CB Tracy Porter

Porter is actually really good at man coverage, just sucks in zone. Not the brightest and like has been said he is a gambler. Part of which explains why he is considered weak in zone bc he will jump the under routes constantly looking for the big play. But he is a definite upgrade over Biggers and is bigger and better than Josh Wilson IMO. But he would be solid at the Nickel at the least.

Revis is on his 3rd team in 3 years. So is Talib. Players move around in today's NFL. Not sure why everyone is so sour grapes about this. Porter seems like a more than capable 3rd corner to me.

Porter can cover the slot, which this team needs.

Re: Redskins agree to terms with CB Tracy Porter

Porter isnt camp competition. Lol he was the lone bright spot in the raiders secondary he had a solid year last year. Similar to Halls, nobody expected him to play as well as he even did. And thats just the tail of his track record. Hes our #2 hes an upgrade from Josh Wilson imo once again we got better somewhere. Sheesh.. thats all i wanted to see, few improvements.. few improvements.

Yep you hit the nail on the head. Porter can play in the slot or on the outside if needed. Remember Crawford is coming back from a injury so we may have to give him time to get back to full speed. Hey we have a lot of holes and it will not be fixed in 1 off season.

Has anybody been able to find the terms of his contract? I've been trying to find it everywhere... I'm interested to see what he got in relation to the other corners that were/areavailable.

I think a lot of people have forgotten about Crawford. I sure hope he fully recovers. He looked very promising in 2012.

No, Porter cant cover the outside.

Porter is an excellent addition to our secondary......he's a sure upgrade over the often scorched Josh Wilson.....
