Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Share notable cuts from today from around the league here
Pats have released Donte Stallworth |
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
I would think the Pats would release Gaffney as well or maybe D. Branch.
Wonder if Randy Moss will make the 49ers roster. I think it would be interesting if Chad Johnson (cut) T.O. (cut) and Randy Moss were all cut. Changing of the guard from older elite WRs |

Man, let me tell you, if you watched any of the Saturday night's Preseason Live show on the NFL Network. Michael Lombardi was just hammering V.Y. after he threw his 2nd INT. V.Y doesn't prepare, he doesn't really like football etc. I think the Bills had seen enough of his poor play, and against 2nd and 3rd stringers. Cousins and Grossman have looked good but its been against backups so I expected them (at least Grossman) to be able to shred defenses. What Cousins did is encouraging because it means he might be able to hold his own against 1st stringers..... Vince Young can't even play against the 2nd string at this point. What a waste of talent. |
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Some of these veteran cuts will get work this season. Anyone on the 53 man roster at the end of week 1 of the regular season has their salary guaranteed for the whole season.
I could see Stallworth, Chad Johnson and Vince Young getting signed, but only after week 1 is in the books and their season salary is not guaranteed. It will take an injury for their phone to ring. But that way teams avoid being on the hook for the whole seasons salary. |
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Dallas could use Stallworth, Johnson or Owens with the health of their WRs right now.
If I were the Cardinals, I'd take a look at Vince Young. I can't believe the Broncos are going with Caleb Hanne and Osweiler as their backups to Peyton Manning and his unknown health and durability. Maybe they should scout out the backups that get cut. |
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
I still think Plax is the best of those WRs (TO, Chad johnson, Donte stallworth)
|
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Hanne is the doubtful call there. Osweiler is a 2-3 year project. Is Hanne really the best veteran back-up out there? Didn't you see what happened in Chicago when he took over? If Manning goes down, no way Osweiler is ready and, well, Hanne just sucks. Seems to me, if they were going the Manning route, they needed someone who wouldn't torpedo the season behind him.

Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Twitter (which is never wrong) says Josh Brown.
|
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Chris Horton is no longer a NY Giant
|
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
I never knew he was. :D
Speaking of the Giants, they placed Chris Canty on the PUP list today. |
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Wayne Hunter supposedly headed to St. Louis for Jason Smith. Change of scenery might do both good
|
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
I mean the trade has happened, I just can't find a link

Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
If Arizona wanted a QB from anyone I can see them making a trade with Seattle for 'ol Flynny since MA' BOY 5'10 5/8" Russell Wilson is going to be tearing it up week 1 starting for the Seahawks!!!!!! Or make a trade with the Dolphins for Matt Moore since Tannehill will be starting.

Moore is better than what they've got? Flynn would be good but no way they trade him. Wilson doesn't have a firm grasp on that job by any means. |

Moore played well for the Dolphins last year. Obviously you have not seen John Skelton or Kevin Kolb play??? Atrocious. That being said, Moore has played terribly in the preseason and I don't think Tom Brady could play well behind the line in Arizona. Just a though of QBs who could have an out from their team for one reason or the other. One a side note. DON'T YOU EVER BLASPHEME RUSSELL WILSON LIKE THAT!!!! He has played as lights-out and dynamically as anyone in the entire NFL this preseason. Flynn is hurt and has not shown to excel in Seattle so far. Tavaris Jackson just got traded to the Bills. So tell me how does Wilson NOT have a firm grasp on that job? |

Seeing the big hit he took against the Niners, after which he jumped up unphased, I think he's probably as durable as he was before the surgeries. |

Yep. Bizarre there hasn't been higher demand for Plax. He scored more TDs last season than any WR on our roster. |

Tavaris Jackson is on the trading block for Seattle. Hilarious...I heard Mike Greenberg say Arizona is a playoff contender this morning during a discussion of "what teams can make the playoffs if their starting QB goes down?" He named the Cardinals FIRST! Then he said San Fran and somewhat redeemed himself. I kept yelling at the radio "HOUSTON!" and it took them 10 minutes to come up with them. :D |

Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Skins need to pickup a CB before or after friday's cuts..
|
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Danny Coale cut from the Cowboys as was OT Pat McQuistan and OL Daniel Loper
Cody Grimm, Russ's son, was cut by Tampa Bay, he's a great safety and STer |
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Wrong McQuistan. We'd want Paul from Seattle.
|
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Joselio Hanson of the Eagles...Axed. Wouldn't be surprised if we picked him up
|
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
looks like the bills released matt bowen, we should give him a look
|
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Reggie Wells, Guard, Cut from the Packers
|
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Giants just IR'd another DB, Bruce Johnson, who was a starter due to other injuries. That makes 3 of their DBs out for the season plus Amukamara out until at least Week 2 and Terrell Thomas out until at least Week 3. Their week 1 start might be rookie Jayron Hosley from VT alongside Corey Webster. He was 5th on their CB depth chart.
Maybe we're not in bad shape compared to other teams' secondary trouble. Bruce Johnson - New York Giants - 2012 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com |
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Giants just released their RB3 D.J. Ware. He's not much of a runner but can pass-block well.
I'd pick him up. He can also help us "scout" the Giants. :D |
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Josh McCown cut by the Bears....oh the humanities.

For Assistant DB Coach, specifically assigned to helping Reed Doughty? I'd rather have Bruce Bowen on our defense. |
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Woah! The Patriots cut Brian Hoyer!
|
Re: Official Cuts from Around the NFL Thread
Whoa! Who?
edit: Ah...looked him up. He was the before guy Kirk Cousins at MSU. |
