Why is this clown still in MLB? Three games into his new team and he's already suspended 5 games for opening his big mouth yet again. Get this clown out of baseball already. Thanks in advance. In other news, looks like the Rangers over-investment Yu Darvish had a rough start, but settled down enough to pick up the win. This was a horrible call by the Ump. Dude should be suspended at the very least for this lame call. |

This was a horrible call by the Ump. Dude should be suspended at the very least for this lame call.
I watched the video a few times. This is a tough call, however it is the right call. While the ball lands behind home plate in foul territory, it's not touched until it has come across home plate back into fair territory. Fair ball. His actions weren't appropriate, as he put his hands up when he shouldn't have, and out of fairness he should have kept the ball dead. Could be that he was trying to keep his balance and stay out of the way of the play, although to throw your hands up in that kind of motion usually indicates foul ball. For that I can certainly agree with the Padres' beef. But in the end by the rules it's the correct call. |

Had he called it fair, then none of this would have happened. |

I heard the 9-1-1 call recording too, it was typical Joba... "This is Joba. I need an ambulance." (he really said it like that) |

Here is another random thought:
The Red Sox have Ortix listed at 6-4 230 lbs and Jon Lester at 6-4 240 lbs. Now that is funny! Active Roster | redsox.com: Team |

One of my favorite, if not my favorite, players of all time called it a career this week.
Kudos Pudge. See you in Cooperstown |
Re: MLB 2012 (random postings/events)
Paul Konerko (my favorite current player along with Jim Thome) hit his 400th HR last night.
Also, the Sox' Phillip Humber threw the 21st perfect game in history. The Sox just had one with Mark Buerhle in 2009 and the team owns 3 of the 21 all-time perfect games. (White Sox fan obviously...kills me to see Thome back in Philly and on the Twins last year) |

Re: MLB 2012 (random postings/events)
You'll have to let me know next year. I'm in a couple of long-running leagues with the same main core of guys, but we usually have a team or two that leaves and we have to replace. One is a keeper league so you could inherit a team.

Re: MLB 2012 (random postings/events)
Maybe not that random this year, but has anyone else had the feeling that the Red Sox should just play the Yankees 162 times a year so that way the hate can flow freely? This year has been the first year in maybe six or seven that I can remember people talking about any other team than those guys. Admittedly I'm not a huge follower of MLB but has it always been like this?
I remember it wasn't always Yankees/Red Sox until the Red Sox finally won that elusive World Series... |

It's why MLB is crap for the most part. Personally I think Boston peaked a few years back and will be going on a decline while trying to overpay for above average talent. (aka...carl crawford) I bet they hate signing that dude...lol |

Agreed. I am most definitely a Yankees hater, but I'm a huge fan of Mariano Rivera. Two words that are always associated with him are class act, because I've never heard a single negative story about the guy. I hope this isn't the end for him, although it definitely makes sense because of his age and how long it takes to come back from this. |
Re: MLB 2012 (random postings/events)
Alex Rodriguez' reaction when he saw him go down i think sums the team's reaction up. 'oh my god'

I really don't follow baseball, but there are two reasons why I sort of root for the Yankees...my family and my wife's family are big Yankees fan (they live up in NY) and I because of Mariano Rivera, who I think is one of the classiest players in all the major sports. |
