PSUskinsfan11 01-23-2005 05:14 PM

I would just like to watch one Eagles game where the refs don't blow them.

i do'nt know what the players and soldiers were crying for,out of thanks for being there and alive,or seeing that brave 10 year old blind kid sing that national anthem.i thought the mostly classless eagle fans, showed a lot of respect for that little boy.

MTK 01-23-2005 06:50 PM

This game is over, Philly going to the SB

itvnetop 01-23-2005 06:52 PM

i'm officially pulling for the AFC in the superbowl...

DCopper04 01-23-2005 07:14 PM

What are the odds that TO will be available in two weeks? I know they have been saying that he will likely be able to play, but I have heard conflicting reports about his injury. Grant Hill of the Orlando Magic suffered an injury very similar to the one that TO suffered, and Hill said that if TO has any common sense he will not play again this year. It's hard enough to come back from that injury to play basketball, much less football.

JWsleep 01-23-2005 07:15 PM

Ugh. Go AFC.

Gmanc711 01-23-2005 07:17 PM

I hate this team. I swear to god, I would rather see the Dallas Cowboys play in the next 5 than see the Eagles in there this year.

PSUskinsfan11 01-23-2005 07:17 PM

I am physically sick. I think I saw Terrell Owens more then Vick today. I hate how the media thinks he is god. GO STEELERS/PATS!!!!!

Gmanc711 01-23-2005 07:21 PM

My Burgandy and Gold blood is mixing with a little Red and Blue right now, or Gold and Black. I NEED the Steelers or Patirots to win the Superbowl.I physcially HATE this team. When the hell is our time? I cant stand this team.

redrock-skins 01-23-2005 07:57 PM
I hate this team. I swear to god, I would rather see the Dallas Cowboys play in the next 5 than see the Eagles in there this year.
I can't put Philly on the same level of hatred as Dallas. I am bias since I am from Philly, but the Eagles do not compare to Dallas in terms of hatred.

saden1 01-23-2005 07:59 PM

Go New England!

Gmanc711 01-23-2005 08:16 PM
I can't put Philly on the same level of hatred as Dallas. I am bias since I am from Philly, but the Eagles do not compare to Dallas in terms of hatred.
Yeah, its different for alot of Skins fans. But the Eagles are the team that really chap my ass.

MTK 01-23-2005 08:30 PM

Part me is glad to see the NFC East representing in the Super Bowl, but the majority of me wants to see them get their asses handed to them.

Can you imagine Philly fan with a SB win??! Ugh

MTK 01-23-2005 08:36 PM

damn the Patriots are looking sharp, Steelers down by 14 it's not the kind of game they want to be in

PSUskinsfan11 01-23-2005 08:45 PM

No disrespect to the older skins fans but your Cowboys are our younger fans Eagles. The older group of fans have a deep hate for the Cowboys because we were both so good and the games were always battles, and now the younger fans have to deal with the Eagles always winning and being the top team in the NFC east so we have a huge hate for them. One of my good friends is a Cowboys fan and he feels the same way, he doesn't like the skins obviously but he hates the Eagles as much as me. It is killing me to go to school in central PA where most of the people that go here are from Philly and blow the Eagles. Everynight I go out during football season I get in fights with ignorant Eagles fans that swear they won 30 super bowls. In the end I remind them that we have WON more Super Bowls then they have even been too and they can come see me when they finally win one.

I think the Pats will hand Philly's ass to them. The Pats defense is just too tough.

TheMalcolmConnection 01-23-2005 09:15 PM

I hope so... and again this year the LAST teams I wanted to be playing in the Super Bowl will most likely be playing. Again, I'm going to reiterate what I ALWAYS say about Vick.

Learn how to pass!

TheMalcolmConnection 01-23-2005 09:16 PM

Watching Philly actually win I got that sick feeling in my stomach again.

redrock-skins 01-23-2005 09:40 PM

Opening Line Pats -7

Anyone else have a guess before the game ends?

Gmanc711 01-23-2005 09:48 PM

I heard it was AFC -2 before they even knew who was in it, so I'll add the 7 and say -9.

Daseal 01-23-2005 09:51 PM

The super bowl isn't even worth watching this year. Two of the teams I hate the most in football. Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, Patriots, 49ers in that order =/

redrock-skins 01-23-2005 09:58 PM

Hold off on that line, we may have a game if Pitt can punch this in.

Gmanc711 01-23-2005 10:04 PM

I dont like this Feild Goal Attempt. Theres not enough time for a Feild goal. Cowher is going to take alot of heat from these fans if they lose for that call.

redrock-skins 01-23-2005 10:07 PM

If they lose by 4 points Cowher will take some heat, but there is 13 mins left. The Pitt Def has to make some stops. Lot of football left.

TheMalcolmConnection 01-23-2005 10:29 PM

Daseal, I feel you...

I wanted so bad to get wasted and watch the Bowl. Ugh.

redrock-skins 01-23-2005 10:36 PM

Arena football is opening their season SB weekend, so I am presenting an alternative for Pats/Eagles SB haters.

TheMalcolmConnection 01-23-2005 10:41 PM

Arena football, the Wal-Mart brand of professional football.

However... better than watching the Pats and Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Cush 01-23-2005 10:43 PM

ah well, guess I won't be watching the SB this year (didn't watch it last year either)

TheMalcolmConnection 01-23-2005 10:44 PM

At least we'll be watching it next year.

Redskins vs. Colts

Daseal 01-23-2005 10:47 PM

Redskins Colts?! Redskins 49ers.

TheMalcolmConnection 01-23-2005 10:50 PM

Hahahahaha...lol Lol

PSUskinsfan11 01-23-2005 11:21 PM
ah well, guess I won't be watching the SB this year (didn't watch it last year either)
Yeah I won't be watching the super bowl this year, but I will be drinking heavily and calling eagles fans to tell them they still can't win it after the Pats dominate them.

final.....31-20 Pats with or without T.O.'s punk ass

sportscurmudgeon 01-24-2005 12:16 AM

Instead of hatred for the teams playing, I just watched with a feeling ofawe because I saw four teams play hard and solid football without every player trying to make a tackle that would be on a highlight reel. Tacklers hit people hard with the purpose of "knocking them down" and not with the purpose of making the his so spectacular that they could be interviewed after the game so that they could say that it was "making a statement".

I saw Atlanta's tight end catch balls in traffic and break tackles and block effectively on run plays. He also ran deep patterns. I don't see a lot of that with the Redskins.

I saw every team have a lead back (fullback, H-back) take linemen and linebvackers to the ground on running plays. That doesn't happen reliably in Redskin games.

I saw Dorsey Levens give second and third and fourth effort to get a TD. He makes less than $1M per year and plays only in special situations. He does not have a $50M contract and go down with initial contact.

I saw safeties for Philly, New England and Pitts actually close on open receivers and knock the ball away instead of trying to take their heads off.

I saw all four teams generate a rush on the passer from the interior of the defensive line formation and not have to rely on outside blitzes to make the QB squirm.

And I saw offensive lines - all four of them - who were very effective. Not what I was used to seeing all season.

And that is why I was watching four teams play today that were not wearing burgandy and gold. Until the Skins close that "performance gap" - as opposed to the publicity gap - I'm afraid I will continue to spend my January and February weekends watching other NFL teams.

MTK 01-24-2005 10:11 AM

My thoughts on the games, I'm not surprised by either outcome. Philly played like a team on a mission. Sure they miss Owens but not by much. Everyone has stepped up to fill his void, and the D has really stepped up in the playoffs. Atlanta was simply overmatched. Vick still can't beat anyone with his arm and they have nobody that scares you at WR.

As for the Patriots what else can you say? They own January. If they wrap up another SB win they're going to be in some elite company as a team. And how about Brady? Another SB win and he will have 3 rings at the age of 27, unbelievable! What else can you say about Belichick? If he takes home 3 rings in 4 years let's just put him in the Hall right now. Hard to believe that was the #1 D in the league out there yesterday. The Patriots carved up the Steelers, Big Ben looked like a rookie and the Steelers just made too many crucial mistakes. The fade pass to Burress on 2nd down was a horrible call IMO. Ram it up the gut with Bettis 3 times, and they probably should have gone for it on 4th down.

Should be a good Super Bowl!

sportscurmudgeon 01-24-2005 10:50 AM

Matty:

It should indeed be a good Super Bowl. As I was watching on Sunday with temperatures in Philly and Pitts down in the teens with the wind howling, I said to my son who was watching the game with me:

"Danny Boy is watching this game in his family roon where the temperature is 70 degrees and the only wind is from the home heating system. I wonder if he is frustrated enough by sitting home and watching these games on TV enough to study how all of these clubs build franchises or if he's sitting there living in the delusion that the Redskins were one player away from these championship games?"

I think we'll have a good indication of his thinking sometime around the first week of March.
