Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
Figured we'd start one and merge it for Sunday if possible..
Anyways Skins offense ranks higher in total yards per game, does anyone see an upset here? I dont JETS- 20 SKINS-16 In a ugly outing, both Rex and Mark throw 2 Int's Helu 100 total yards and a TD |

"Because of the stumbles of Sanchez the Jets passing attack ranks 21st in the NFL by yards a game. Sanchez is not helped by an offensive line that has allowed him to be sacked 6.5% of the time he drops back. This is about middle of the pack, but that isn’t good for a team that was listed by many to be the favorite to win the Super Bowl." |
Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
Im not sure if Helu will have a great game this week. NYJ should try to take away the run and force Grossman into turning it over. Saying that, if Helu does have a solid game, it would only put he nail in the coffin for other RBs on the roster excluding Hightower.
|
Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
We should make a rule if you going to start one of these thread you have to at least pick the skins to win. It just starts off too negative other wise.
|
Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
Sanchez fractures his nards in the second qtr.
Helu rushes for two TDs. Our defense scores. 24- 17 Skins. |
Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
I think Sanchez is the kind of qb Hall loves to get his picks on. Not extremely accurate, and not particularly threatening deep. What is the record for combined picks in a game? Between Rex and Sanchez we may very well set it in this game, my prediction is 6 total picks possibly 3 each.
Skins win tho' 21 -16 |
Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
I think the record is something like 14 or 15 interceptions actually, back in the early 60s?

Close: 13 in 1962 in an AFL matchup Houston v. Denver - 5 by George Blanda, 5 by Frank Tripuka and 3 by George Shaw. For the NFL several games are tied at 11. Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
Sanchez get's hurt on the first play, and Mark Brunell comes in and throw 33 straight completions via dumb off's and beats the Skins 21-13 setting a new completion record in the NFL, and Brunell retires after that game
|
Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
If Brunell plays we should let Moss play deep safty. They always seemed to conect on the long ones.
|
Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
Sanchez has a bad day, somehow. We pull out a win, somehow. But yes, we will win.

Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
skinz lose big. Jets defense comes to life against an anemic redskin offense with rex "Gross Man" at the helm.
37 - 13 J Men |

That could actually happen. |

37 - 13 J Men
Jets can't run the ball for shit and their special teams is a notch down from the the time they had Brad Smith and Leon Washington. Oh, and don't look now, but we have a top 10 in terms of limiting scoring and were 11th in terms of limiting yards given up. |

Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
I think the Skins can win this one if they play like last week, but dumbass Hall calls out Sanchez. Everytime a Skin calls an opposing player out we lose. Seriously, everytime Hall, or Arrington, etc called anybody out we lost and looked like jackasses. Hall needs to STFU and just get er done!!!!
what did Hall say?
Redskins DB DeAngelo Hall calls Mark Sanchez 'middle-of-the-pack,' says QB telegraphs passes | NJ.com
“He doesn’t take as many chances as much as he just gets confused some times,” Hall told The Washington Post. “A lot of times he just comes out and stares a receiver down, tries to throw him the ball. He puts it on those guys to make plays. They haven’t made as many plays this year as they have in previous years.”

“I’d say he’s middle-of-the-pack," Hall said. "Definitely not the worst in the league. He’s a capable quarterback. He’s taken them to a couple AFC Championships, so he definitely knows how to win the big games.”

“If you can discourage them from running the ball and try to attack the quarterback, he’s a young guy who’s still finding his way," Hall said. "He’s got a lot of talent, but if you can harass him and make him take it all on his shoulders, that’s your best chance to win.”
oh deangelo  |
Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
Gotta give it to HaLL He talks a big game lol
|
Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
Hall's comments are fairly mild...and accurate. Nothing over the top this time around.
|
Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
Well, it's the first and only Skins game I'm going to this season. My closest buddy is a huge Jets fan... And massive Skins hater. He and I have been smack talking back and forth about our teams for 16 years. For the first time we're going to a Jets-Skins game together. We've got end zone seats about 10 rows up from the field, and good parking passes. We'll be there when the gates open to set up the tailgate.
I want this one really, really badly. Skins 23-17 |
Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
Hows this for optimism? This is the time of the year I can throw homeristic predictions around and not feel guilty for not believing it.
45-3 Skins win. We're up by 3 touchdowns at the end of the first half, all 4 members of the secondary record interceptions, D.Hall with a pick six, Kerrakpo feasts on Dirty Sanchez, Rex Ryan reveals after the game his new nickname is Diabeetus, which is the reason he wasn't focused while gameplanning this week, thus dooming the Jets to failure before the game even started. And you know what the crazy part is? I actually like the Jets. But for once this season I want the Skins to just blow a team out, and I'm going to keep going homer in my predictions until it happens. |

Oh, and don't look now, but we have a top 10 in terms of limiting scoring and were 11th in terms of limiting yards given up.
and everything you have said is why I think the Skins win this week. Well, out of the rest of the games I would have only guessed the Jets and Vikings games were the last two chances to win but man the Eagles looked bad last night. lol. The Skins might be able to win 3 games if they play like they did against the Seahawks. As much as I'd prefer the Skins to lose out for draft position, I think they take this game. The Jets are not the same Jets of years past. This year has been a bad year for them, Sanchez not playing well and mostly due to the OL not playing well. Their run game is questionable. Their defense is giving up big plays and yards especially in the run game. The Skins defense has played well all year for the most part and has been stingy. If the offense can muster what they did against Seattle then I foresee a win. This is what I'm excited about yet afraid of: Jets- Skins win Patriots- Loss- but imagine what if it's low scoring? Giants- Toss up Vikings- Skins win Eagles- Skins win As some of you predicted possibly 7-9, or if they beat the Giants 8-8. God forbid if they beat the Patriots...lol. 9-7. |

oh deangelo
LOL, nothing like one of our players to tell an opponant what they do wrong so they can fix it and not do it. "hey the QB likes to look to the right just before he throw to his left", "the Center lifts his arse just before he hikes the ball", "when the RB is going to run the ball he stands in a two point stance if its pass he stands in a three point stance", "when the defense is rushing the MLB stays back about five yards, but if he's going into coverage he runs up to the LOS as if he's rushing but doesn't." I don't have a problem with what Hall said. It is right on the money, but still; anytime a Skins player got cocky and called out an opposing player, he got burned. How many times have we called out Romo and the Boys only to lose, when we should have won, etc. We made Romo look like a hero when he played with a broken rib and punctured lung, after someone called him out beforehand. Everytime folks want to stick a fork into Sanchez, he comes up with a nice game. I guess it was Hall's turn to egg him on. I hope Hall gets a pick six or two, but historically speaking, we end up laying a dud after calling a specific player out. |

Well in the time that we've been friends, I don't have anything to brag about either. Whenever I bring up past Super Bowls, I get the "keep living in the past" response. And that's valid, but what I say to that is, at least I have a past to live in. ;) |
Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
Sounded like Hall was talking about Grossman. Generously, that is.

I just thought it would be exciting if someone put a microphone in Sanchez' face and asked him to talk about playing against DeAngelo Hall. This could be a weekly thing. It'd be great!

Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
Anybody want to guess the team with the longest winless drought (in terms of time) against the Redskins?
|
Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
This game will be a big test for the Redskins offense. The Jets have 2 good cover corners and play the run tough so the offense has to run the ball well. We need a big game from Fred Davis because our WR will be MIA with Revis out there. Our defense must stop the run and pressure Sanchez and force him into bad throws. LB's have to cover the Jets TE which will be a tough task for us.
I feel like we keep the game close but we come up short because the Jets need this win more than we do to keep pace with the Patriots. This game comes down to a FG and we know that Gano has struggled this year. |

Well, the Jets and Redskins have only played 9 times ever. If I'm not mistaken the last time they beat us was a 3-0 shootout in 1993 on a Saturday, nationally televised game. We really showcased our stuff that day. I was a freshman in high school. |
I was looking on a jets forum and it's awesome to see they're worried about our pass rush. It's been a long time since we could say other teams feared it.

Re: Redskins Vs Jets Pregame Thread
I didn't notice this, but very quietly Stephen Bowen has 4.5 sacks on the season and Carriker has 5. That's great production from two 3-4 defensive ends. I can only imagine what it will be like with Jarvis Jenkins in the lineup next season, but it's definitely safe to say at this point our trade with STL for Carriker has been a win for us.
