Skins v Rams pregame
Time to put the Dallas game to bed.
Let's talk about the Rams |
Re: Skins v Rams pregame
I think the rams are one of or if not the worst team in football right now, they have no offense at all and the defense isn't any good either.. If the skins are really a contender this season we should win this game by 10 points. I think we bounce back w a good win Sunday and honestly I can't wait to get this taste gone

Re: Skins v Rams pregame
Is Steven Jackson playing?
|
Re: Skins v Rams pregame
still hard to let go of the Dallas game, but if we are who we want to think we are, we will come out and win this game. Convincingly. I know we may not get the RZ production, but it ought to be a game where from start to end the outcome is never in doubt. That said, the Skins haven't had a game like that for a while, so I expect somehow we will keep the Rams in it.
|
Re: Skins v Rams pregame
I expect us to struggle this game, because thats been the nature of this team over the last several years after a tough loss. This game will let us know how much we have grown mentally. Do we forget a tough Dallas loss and play better or do we play down to a bad Rams team talent level. A win at St. Louis might be the biggest win of the season in terms of team growth.

Re: Skins v Rams pregame
Short week, on the road, desperate opponent, questionable QB play, an OC who continues to put a marginal QB in difficult situations, OC who doesn't like to use the run.....this story isn't starting well.
|
Re: Skins v Rams pregame
I think the Dallas game and the early success may have gotten into the head of the players. It is time for them to get over this early success and the loss, and move on with the season. It is important to get our ground game going, otherwise we are going to see the same production out of our offense. I also would like to see a bit of variety in the offensive and defensive playcalling. I think this last game we saw the same plays too often (Haslett's all out blitz, KS' FB run). Also, Rex needs to put this game behind him and trust the o-line a bit more. I know the Rams d-line is not the same as Dallas, but I'm still convinced that Rex underestimated the protection he had early in the game.

Re: Skins v Rams pregame
The Rams have beat us two years in a row. Yes their defense sucks but their front 4 dominated our o-line last year. I expect this game to go right down to the wire cause we're not a contending team. We simply can't do what Baltimore did to this team last week.

wouldn't surprise me if we lost this game. the oddsmakers have it as a pick. that says something. |

I agree Skins 21 Rams 10 |
Re: Skins v Rams pregame
This team has nothing to prove to me. They play hard. They play together.
Once again, I'll beat that poor dead horse: we are rebuilding. The score of this or any other particular game this year is less important to me than the effort of the players and the continuous improvement of the team. With effort and improvement, we'll win our fair share of games, which I think is about 8 given the talent level of this team. I have no idea which teams we'll beat to get to 8 wins but beating the Rams this week would be sweet. |
Re: Skins v Rams pregame
Although the opponent isn't the best, we are recovering from a tough Dallas loss. The players have been saying there is something different about this locker room than the ones in the past. Well here is the first test, can you rebound after losing a game you pretty much threw away? Players need to learn from their mistakes and move on to this game. If they can, they should easily beat the Rams.

Re: Skins v Rams pregame
This is a very interesting game becasue like last year we came off that painful HOU lost and then just dropped a egg in STL. Let's see if this year's team fears better in much the same scenario as last year.
This game is a great measuring stick to where we are this year vs. last year. |
Re: Skins v Rams pregame
BTW why are we playing the Rams ev Year??

Because we suck and they suck so the NFL schedule makers put us together using their strength of schedule benchmarks. |

good question

I will re-iterate what B Orakpo said in an int after the D game...... > < .

Re: Skins v Rams pregame
Things I would like to see from this game are :
More effective running game with both Hightower and Helu. Stop giving up long runs in the second half of the game. Continued pressure from both Orakpo and Kerrigan. A few more shots down the field to AA. Better return game by BB. I think it is time to give Leonard Hankerson a chance to get on the field. |

I like Moss and Gaffney but I agree give Hank a shot.. RUN game will be better this week and Rex will be good also |

In the past it was a 4th place schedule, this year we're playing the NFC West. |
Re: Skins v Rams pregame
I'm very worried about this game. Like it was said earlier in the thread, the Rams have beat us the last two times, and one of those years, the Rams had only won like two games. So, this is going to be a very tough game for the 'skins, mentally.
This team has the talent, but it's the mental toughness I'm waiting to see. I believe that is a major hurdle that the Redskins need to get over. The good, consistent teams are the ones who have the mental toughness and the confidence that they feel they can win every game played. They also show discipline with fewer penalties during games. So, the keys to this game and any other games the Redskins will be playing this year are to play smart, disciplined football. Nine times out of ten, the mental game decides wins and losses. |

HTTR
That nice and everything but lets be real honest, the defense has more than held up there end of the team. I need to hear the sh*t coming from someone on the offense, because quite frankly they were garbage Sunday, and the crazy thing is it was not due to the oline play which in the past was an easy f*cking target. WR, RB, QB, Offense Coaches....someone needs to step up from this group |

Re: Skins v Rams pregame
If we lose, we'll see Beck after the bye week. It would be tough to justify a QB change if we are 3-1, but there's a possibility we could still see the change.
This will be a big bounceback game, I suspect. The team should be embarrassed and angry as hell after the way they blew it on Monday. The D played great though, until Dallas' last drive. Landry...oh how we've missed you. We need to get back to running the ball and minimizing Grossman's opportunities to make a mistake. He's great off the play-action, but we overused it on Monday. We did not run enough to make the play-action effective...they knew he was passing whether he faked a hand-off or not. The Rams look BAD right now...their secondary is severely missing Atogwe. Craig Dahl is solid but we should torch the rest of their secondary. Skins 27 Rams 15 (5 FGs) |

That explains the annual match-ups with the Lions and Bucs I guess. |
Re: Skins v Rams pregame
Yeah I agree, if Rex plays bad and we lose Beck is the guy by game 5

Re: Skins v Rams pregame
St. Louis Rams Rushing Defense stats:
Given up 573 Rushing Yards total, 5.4 apc, with a 174.3 average per game. All league worst No effing excuses this week Kyle |
Re: Skins v Rams pregame
^ Wow...that's bad. Hightower and Helu should both top 80 yards. No excuses.

sadly, because we both are in 4th place every year. |

Beck was considered to be the guy but I am hoping for Rex to stay in the whole season, I dont want anymore drama |
Re: Skins v Rams pregame
TH should get 17 carries
Helu should get 15 carries |

Re: Skins v Rams pregame

Redskins 2-1 -0 2 13/25 This defense flies around the field and plays inspired football, and the return of DB LaRon Landry only makes them better. On offense, they move the ball down the field with ease, but need to convert in the red zone. from fox sports Power Rankings |

Re: Skins v Rams pregame
Really, Beck already? I had hope that our fan base had changed a bit but apparently not...
I had hope that Rex had changed a bit but apparently not... He was solid in the first 2 weeks. We need him to be consistent. In the Dallas game, old Rex came back in moments, that INT throw to Lee and the fumble at the end. Those kind of mistakes cost games and are why teams were scared to even contact him when he was available. If he cam stay comfortable in the system and play mainly error-free (he's guaranteed for ONE turnover every game, so we need to accept that), then he can keep the job. When he starts reverting to his Jekyll-and-Hyde ways, it's time to see what Beck can do, even if we are winning despite of him like the Bears did. If he's playing smart ball and not making those stupid blunders, keep him in definitely. If he starts to become inconsistent, we need to see if Beck can stabilize the QB position. Keeping Rex in might hold back the team's potential success if he's not exceeding our expectations and his reputation. |
