Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
Laron Landry: Welcome back. We've missed you.
Graham Gano: hitting what you're lined up for. Thanks. Trent Williams: good job overall on Ware. Loved how you got chippy with him a few times. I'll leave the rest to you guys. Long night. |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
I'll add Josh Wilson, but beyond that not much else
|

Long night.
Kerrigan had a force fumble and a ton of pressures. Bowen was a force out there for most of the night. The secondary held Bryant in check, had a ton of passes defended, and OJ had a good TD knocked down. Someone just needs to tell Hasslett to not send a jailhouse break blitz on 3rd and forever when your team is up by a few points. |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
I'd add the fact that it's only game 3, and there's a lot of film to watch.
|
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
McIntosh
Bowen Kerrigan Atogwe Gano Williams Wilson Landry |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
I wouldnt list anybody from the offense on this list with the exception of Silverback.
Gano did just fine. The Defense played pretty damn well with the sh*t they were handed by the offense. Didnt allow a touchdown and still the gave those POS Kyle and Rex a chance to win the game. |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
LANDRY! Beast
Rak - Kerrigan, they got pressure T.W, thats my dude! Wilson- good game Haslett- can't blame him for Hall's mistake |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
Forgot to mention Costa for the Cowboys.
Forgot to mention Costa for the Cowboys.
Seriously. He was one of the best players on our team tonight. Overall, I think the Skins for the most part played well. Rex was pretty suspect and D. Hall sucked, but I'm more critical of him becuase he opens his mouth and does not back it up... |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
Skins D played well but that Offense was out of sync all night. O well hard to sleep on this one folks but I'm out httr..
|
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
Defense on our side of the field = excellent. Major kudos for keeping the Cowboys out of the end zone.
Landry - welcome back. I like Doughty but people are lying if they think he makes the impact Landry has. Trent Williams. Still needs to solve the inconsistency but tonight was a good step towards that. He handled D.Ware, it's just unfortunate Jammal Brown couldn't do the same. |
McIntosh
Bowen Kerrigan Atogwe Gano Williams Wilson Landry
I thought McIntosh was typically terrible. A couple nice plays going down hill, but a big blown pass assignment mixed with a couple of awful tackles and the tradition of overruning gaps. I didn't think Atogwe was much good either. Landry is a monster out there. He's unbelievable. I think he was beat in coverage once by jedi master Witten, but other than that his day was more or less flawless. As long as Kerrigan, Orakpo, and Landry are all healthy and on the same defense, I really like our chances. Josh Wilson was awful in run support, but its hard to play the pass much better than he did today. Right up there with any of Carlos Rogers or Shawn Springs' best games as a Redskin. |

True but Hall is supposed to be our number 1 Guy and sometimes U just gotta make that play, it's not Hasletts fault the damn O couldn't score tonight. Our D is the only reason we were alive late. |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
And how the F does slow ass Witten catch so many?????????????
|
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
Orakpo/Kerrigan- Pressured Romo the whole game
Gano- Made all his kicks Landry- played with passion, didn't miss a beat Hightower- (didn't run well, but T'd off on#43 made a nice catch on 3rd and 5, and caught our only TD.) Rocca- Botched hold, but he pinned Dallas back in all of his punts. |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
London Fletcher. Because how are you even in this game without London Fletcher. Where would this franchise be without London Fletcher?
Actually, don't answer that. |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
Cooley shaping back into form. Folks have already mentioned the others.

It was good to see this, but I don't understand why Cooley and Davis both can't be productive in one game. |

Kerrigan/Fletcher/Gano

Actually, don't answer that.
I don't know, but god I hope our next mike 'backer is as good as he is. Fletcher is the model of consistency, and I don't even understand why the Bills released him back in the day. I just wish Fletcher had plenty more seasons left under his belt. |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
Here's a Kyle Shanahan positive tonight: zero free runs on Grossman by a Rob Ryan defense that is infamous for creating free runs on the QB.
The in game playcalling was suspect, but there is no doubt the Redskins game in prepared. |

But eight figures to a 32 year old London Fletcher was a great idea.
Gregg Williams is the gift that keeps on giving. Still six defensive contributors around from the 2007 team and that doesn't even include Sean's freak passing. |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
Fletcher is so good and consistent he's taken for granted. He is a BEAST.

Actually ask the St. Louis Rams why they let him go to Buffalo? I loved Fletcher then and now, he should have more than 2 pro-bowls. |

But 32 year old London Fletcher is not your average middle linebacker. He's the one "over-the-hill" player we've paid millions to that has panned out in the long run. |

I'm not as upset about Haslett as some on here are, because even though one bad call can trump a game full of good calls in the eyes of the fans, I don't necessarily fall in line with that line of thinking. But Haslett was wrong to leave Bryant one on one with Hall on that all out blitz. I understand he was just playing the odds, Dallas' wideouts weren't having a good game etc., but in an one on one situation Bryant vs. Hall, I don't like those odds. I like Hall, think his positives are just as much as his negatives, but the only corners you leave one on one with playmakers, even injured playmakers, are shutdown corners or even above average cover corners, which Hall is not. Haslett shouldn't have put Hall in that situation to begin with. |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
LL is a difference maker on D. Case closed on that for anyone who had any doubts.
|
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
Williams was a beast for them last night. He was taking on Ware single handed most of the night. The damage came when he lined up against JB.
I am not too worried about this loss. Our D still looked good and that is the strength of our team. We were one stupid bad snap on a FG attempt away from winning that game last night. |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
Here's what I saw last night, coming from a cowboys fan:
Tim Hightower looked really, really good. At times he looked good running the ball but he looked great catching and blocking. LaRon Landry looked great as well. That dude can move wish he was one of our safeties. I disagree on Williams though, if you go back and look the dude committed so many false start penalties, holds, and even flat out tackled Ware on one play. None of these were called but that's the way it goes I guess. |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
I thought the refs were pretty bad on both sides.

it was a good play call. He just needed his Corners to execute and Hall did not. It was a 30 yard lob pass thrown while the QB is moving backwards. That should be an easy knockdown by any DB, Unfortunately Hall like to play 20 yards off in coverage. |

Agreed. |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
Sav Rocca is a huge upgrade at punter. Except for the botched hold, he was a special teams stud. Never been a fan of punters holding - I would much prefer John Beck holding on kicks.
|
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
Gano - I'm starting to love this guy. Kicks the ball thru the endzone every time and his FGs are improving. We totally mismanaged the end of the first half, but he saved the day with that CLUTCH 50-yarder. We are good for 1 missed/botched field goal a game, otherwise I'm very happy with our kicking game.
TW/OLine - Yes some holds and false starts but did what he had to do to hold Ware in check. OL improving in the run game. Lichstensteiger had a good game. J.Wilson - Great in the passing game. Like Tripp said he reminded me of Springs out there. Meet our real #1 CB. LL - What a pleasure having you back. That hit on the sideline was awesome. I'm sure I woke up all my neighbors. D overall - very solid game in a tough venue. Held them out of the endzone all night. Did more than enough to win this game. |
Re: Scud's Studs (Week 3 vs Dallas)
I don't know... with that crappy dallas OL, how come we couldn't completely destroy romo? I know the playcalling on their side was built specifically to protect him and our D played ok, but a half competent offense or a better defense would have pulled this one out. we needed some fumble recoveries.

Not sure how crappy that oline really is. At least Tyrone Smith and Doug free are both pretty good. |

Orakpo was owning Doug Free all night long if I remember correctly. |
