Wow. Just wow. Vick should join a weekend flag football league.

Re: Vick is a crybaby

I have never been a Vick fan, back to his Tech days. When he scrambles and holds onto the ball like he does he has got to know he is going to get pasted. He needs to get over it. He's just pissed that so far the "Dream Team" is falling flat on its face.

Not the Refs fault his Oline is poor.

Re: Vick is a crybaby

Vick should be complaining to the Eagles FO for putting a lousy offensive line to protect him. Although that was a helmet to helmet hit on the play were Vick was knocked out of the game.

Re: Vick is a crybaby

Wasn't one of the big concerns too that the Eagles' O Line was suspect?

love how he says "I ain't gonna complain about it" during a press conference where he spends 10 minutes doing exactly that.

Ijaeger 09-25-2011 07:59 PM

Re: Vick is a crybaby

The reason vick is on his ass all the time is because he holds onto the ball and tries to make something happen when it's simply not there. Couple that with the fact that he is considered a qb/rb threat every time he has the ball in his hands and yea he's most likely not gonna get late hit calls because he can bust it at any moment. Don't want to get hit, learn how to throw the ball away.

i could care less about vick... but helmet to helmet is a penalty regardless...no way brady or manning takes that without a penalty

Yeah Canty would have been ejected if that was Brady or P. Manning.

Why is this a thread? If you watched Vick at VT and saw how he sacrificed his body for his team every week you wouldn't call him a cry baby. Any one of us would be cry babies if we played in the NFL and got 300 pound lineman hitting us every week.

Vick is right on this one and we all know if it was number 12 it would be a flag

Re: Vick is a crybaby

Vick honestly does get hit a lot more, after the ball is thrown, than other QBs in the league. Yes, its his his o-line's fault but Vick never gets the flag. The defense and refs treat him like he is a RB. Eagle fans complain about this all the time, not just this game. While watching the game i was thinking that another QB would get some ref-assistance on a lot of those plays.

That being said, i'm happy that Vick doesn't get these calls. Maybe his whining(and injury) will lead to the refs being more favorable to him in the future, which is upsetting. With this added publicity, some people will be calling out racism which will also lead to the refs being more favorable to Vick.

This.

And I'll add my own :twocents:. I think the refs and even the league are treading on the fine line of discrimination/racism wrt Vick. He's listed as a quarterback period end of sentence and when he's behind the LOS extending a play w/ his feet there's no legitimate excuse for the helmet to helmet and/or late hits he takes. In short, every other marquee (err white) QB in the league gets the benefit of the doubt everytime in those instances. F*ck you barely lay a finger on Tom B's pretty head or dare to tap him after a play and there's a shower of yellow flags coming in for minutes. Same goes for several others.

I understand there's room for debate about what type of guy Vick is i.e. character issues but it's really, really disingenuous to pretend it's ok the guy is treated differently as a player.

Off soap-box...and ps I'm white.

I would say Matt Ryan is pretty white and as far as I remember he was the one that wasn't getting the roughing the passer calls when his Falcons squared off with the Eagles last week. Josh Freeman, Campbell, McNabb all get their fair share of roughing calls so I don't think your theory holds any water.

mooby 09-26-2011 02:14 AM

Anybody see the play today where Muhammad Wilkerson of the jets barely bumped Jason Campbell and got roughing the passer called on him? Now that call was some bs, and the only reason I'm bringing it up is to point out how pretentious the racism angle is. Vick doesn't get the calls because he's a dual threat qb, not because he's black. If anything the call should've been helmet to helmet and not roughing the passer.

mooby 09-26-2011 02:18 AM

Honestly I haven't seen as many borderline roughing the passer penalties as I did last year and I think the refs might've been instructed to lay off a little bit if it didn't appear intentional.

But the big problem with the refs across the league is inconsistency. They are just not consistent when it comes to appropriately measuring out punishment for intentional acts.

did u also see the bogus intentional grounding call on the same play ? one.bad call to offset another, least they got that right .... Matt Ryan was hut helmet to.helmet worse than that BY THE EAGLES.. didn't get a flag or cry. .. **** racism... he doesn't get hit un fairly or borderline any effing more than alot of other passers in the league... he's a whiny brat with a false sense of entitlement just like the team, city and fans gettin plays for.

Trent dilfer ripped him on sports center with valid points and rightfully so...

Re: Vick is a crybaby

Here is an idea....have the Offensive line block!!!
Last year when the Skins Mcnabb was getting hit was it racism???
Vick brings this on himself by extending the play and holding the ball longer then other QB's....and once he runs(outside the pocket) he is not a QB but a running back and all QB protection rules are off.
Serously look at the Canty play again....he is not hit in the head put the chest and shoulder as was explained on Mike and Mike this morning, the other big hit he took was on his INT when he tried to make a tackle and was nailed.....again he is a normal player and can be ....and should be hit on plays such as these.Cutler in Chicargo has ben hit more this year then Vick....racism my ass he's a cry baby and needs to STFU!!!

P.S>

...watch a boatload of Football yesterday and not in any game but the Giant game did this happen .The refs helped Vick off the ground 3 times...never helped Eli or any other QB from what I saw....must be racism.

Wow, the refs are in Mike V's doghouse, sucks to be them.

Daseal 09-26-2011 07:33 AM

Re: Vick is a crybaby

Yeah. The racism comment is bullshit. I'm guessing a racist wouldn't try for a job in a league that is primarily black. Wasn't Mike Carey the ref of this game as well? I could have that confused, but I thought he was.

Vick doesn't get the calls because he constantly extends the plays. Most QBs can't escape the way Vick can. If you don't finish the play with Vick, there's a good chance it's going for 7 afterwords. He also holds on to the ball until the last second and constantly extends the play. Nothing wrong with that, but there are consequences for that type of action.

Vick gives up his body, but he's also pretty fragile. I know if I were a coach, I'd be preaching to get hits in on Vick. Put him on the ground. Nothing dirty, but finish the plays. Because if Kafka comes in, we win!

Re: Vick is a crybaby

i didn't see any of the game i was driving all day yesterday, but after watching the "highlights" of vicks game from the original post, that was just a bad game by the eagles and vick. and the canty hit did not look like helemt to helmet, he hit vicks shoulder with his helmet, which the ref is clearly motioning to the eagles sideline after the play.

and as far as the race thing goes, thats way of base imo. the only qb's who get the roughing the passer calls are manning and brady and mostly just brady. and they are the poster boys for the nfl so yeah a few more call are going to go their way.

vick is just a punk, always has been always will be, the guy just can't take adversity for shit. the second it starts getting rough he loses his cool and can't stay focused on the game. just look at last week when he scoreboarded the falcons fans as he was walking off. not that is't a huge issue, but it just shows you his lack of focus. bet a reid would love to see kolb walkin thru tunnel right about now

The Iggles will not take the division nor make the playoffs.

I wish he were playing us. I want us to get a beat down on him. I don't want opponents to have an excuse.

You want to be the best, you beat the best your opponent's got to give. Then, in their heart of hearts, they know you beat them and that you are better then them.

Re: Vick is a crybaby

Complaining about the refs not a smart move by Vick. He has nothing to gain from what he said. As frustrated as he was, no matter how badly he wanted to share his pain with the rest of the world, nothing good can come from that.

If he has an issue with it, he should have just told his coaches and have them file a complaint with the league. That way, it would look like a coach sticking up for the safety of his player.
