Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread

Today is the day our season starts. What do you want to see in this game? Of course no injuries.., We have a camps that is filled with competition so all quarters should be will be worthwhile.

Any man-crushes you seen in camp that you hope to shine tonight?

There is always a game thread on this site, this is a pre game thread to get us started.

For Me I want the skins to be:

Competitive with the steelers
The lines needs to show progress
Score in the first series
less penalties

Players I look forward to seeing most:
Hankerson
Jenkins

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread

I would like to see the offensive line hold up well and some sort of success on our first drive, not sure we need a score but a few first downs would be a good thing. I would like to see our new and improved D line get a good push upfront.

I think the #1 thing I want to see though is no injuries!

helu and hankerson... not expecting all that much from hank though. maybe next year.

hoping kerrigan isn't too rough, i dont think he'll be very good till game 6-8.

jenkins - i want to see action on the DL and expect him to hold it down.

jabar, he's a good receiver, but making sure he slides right in without any bumps is pretty important for our offence.

and OL... please stop the guys in front of you... please.

NO INJURIES!
And I want to come away with the confidence that says hmmm......they may be onto something here!

After months of drought and doubt, I'm just happy to see the Skins take the field again. Woo hoo! HTTR!

Seriously, don't really care who plays if I'm being honest -- just want to see some drives and some football. I'll wait to see how the team does from the next game.

More than anything I want to see the OL give whoever plays QB a little time to make their reads. A productive running game would be sweet as well.

I want to see Kellen Clemens throw 3 TDs in the 2nd half and add to the QB controversy

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread

I want to see most of the rookies (Royster, Helu, Paul, Robinson, Hankerson, JJ, Kerrigan, Neild) and see who looks really good/good enough to make the team.

I want there to be no injuries of course

I want to see how good Cofield looks at the NT position.

I want to see if Riley is better than McIntosh.

I want to see the Steelers get serious injuries on there team, because I hate them!

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread

I am excited to see how our front seven do. I think the lackluster performance of last year cannot continue this year, and i hope it doesnt.

What I really hope for is for one or two rookies to really stand out and have great games. Talent and youth can do alot for a franchise, tis just hard to mix the two and get production out of the jumble. Hopefully we have a couple rooks that will be premier players in this league.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread

No injuries, want to see the rookies play. I want to be able to effectively run the ball and stop the run on d.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread

I'm dying to see how Hankerson performs. I fell in love with Malcolm Kelly's athleticism, his long frame, and his big hands. But of course he couldn't stay healthy. Hankerson has a similar build and I'm hoping he shines and has a successful career.

I also want to see:
how our run game does without Torain. This will be a good test against the #2 defense from last year. If we carve them up then I'll have great confidence in our running game this year.
Our defense,

Obviously I want to see no injuries at all

NC_Skins 08-12-2011 12:14 PM

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread

Hoping to see a good effort by our revamped defense. (particularly the D-line)

chrisl13 08-12-2011 12:15 PM

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread

HANKERSON- I love his build and athleticism. I hope he shines because we all know we need more capable receivers outside of AA and Moss.

RUNNING GAME- I want to see how well we do against this stout defense. If we carve them up then that will give me great confidence in our deep running back corp.

DEFENSIVE LINE- With all these new acquisitions (Coefield, Bowen, Jenkins) I'm dying to see how well they fit in this 3-4. I've heard nothing but good things about Coefield and Jenkins so I want to see them in action against another team.

AND NO INJURIES!

I'm excited to see how the OL/DL perform. Also Helu, and if the WRs are able to get separation.

I personally find the whole John Beck-Kyle wanted him with the 10th overall pick-the Shanahan's have loved him for years-he talks to the media like he's the starter during the offseason-crap totally absurd. So I hope Rex Grossman plays great and everyone can stop this Beck nonsense.

I'm also interested to see the play of both the DL and OL, and hopefully Hankerson hangs on to the ball.

Yeah, according to KS and MS, Beck is the best thing since sliced bread so I'm curious to see how he does. I personally think Rex is going to start against the Giants on opening day but let's see.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread

Regardless of how Rex plays, Beck will get his shot. We know what we have in Rex, not so much with Beck. It's only fair to kick the tires on Beck and see what he's got.

Anyway, obviously looking for no injuries and a limited amount of penalties. I'm definitely disappointed Beck won't be out there tonight because I would love to see what he can do against Pitt's first team D.

He'll get his shot, but not tonight. He hasn't been ruled out yet, but a gimpy groin against this Steeler D... Not likely. So I hope Grossman looks sharp and keeps Beck where he's always been- on the bench.

Yeah Beck is out tonight, but he'll get his shot when healthy. Whether he belongs on the bench or not is yet to be seen.

The 6th? I don't think he's buried that far. By all accounts he's been the most pleasant surprise of the WRs so far during camp.

Well, look at who's ahead of him

Moss
Gaffney
AA
Hankerson

He's 5th at best

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread

Per John Keim

WR Niles Paul. Has stood out because of his consistent hands. He’s a physical player and is as anxious as anyone to show it on the field. I like that he pesters WR coach Keenan McCardell for more reps/time. He needs to polish his routes.

On pace for: Practice squad/No. 6 WR spot. Long way to go but had a good opening two weeks. Needs to make plays on special teams in the preseason. Right now he’s behind guys like Terrence Austin and Donte Stallworth. But can you keep Stallworth as a fifth or sixth WR if he doesn’t play special teams. Don’t think so.

I'd say he's solidly the 5th, and if Hankerson doesn't start catching the ball he could be the 4th.

But you know how it goes- someone we're high on right now will all of a sudden show us nada over the next four weeks and get cut, and someone who's totally off everyone's radar will show out and make the team.

I hate Stallworth on this team. 3 catches last year and nothing special with a loaded Pats team two years before that. Now he's going to possibly result in us cutting a promising young receiver just so we can repeat the Joey Galloway experiment.

Its probably not on in richmond, its not on live full coverage in baltimore. But im sure it will get some time on the NFL network where they bounce around from game to game then the full game is on the NFL network at 4 pm saturday like matty said.

Did people in the DC area get the full ravens game last night on CSN?

Looking forward to the D, new additions, just some football and firing up the grill! woot woot!
