Re: Rex reporting for duty!
OH thank god!
What I like about our QB situation is that we have three guys and they all are pretty much the same player. Beck probably wins because he's the best with pressure on him, although I also think that he's going to look the worst in team passing activities. I really hope Ben Chappel wins the QB competition that he's not actually a part of. |
Re: Rex reporting for duty!
Our savior.
|
Re: Rex reporting for duty!
Marc Vercia is going to prove me wrong and become a start.
|
Re: Rex reporting for duty!
Now if we had Devin Hester and Brian Urlacher we could go to the super bowl.
|
Re: Rex reporting for duty!

Re: Rex reporting for duty!

|
Re: Rex reporting for duty!

Rex: So yo johnny boy, I hear you having troubles with the deep ball. Beck: Well, I missed on a few and.. Rex: Step back son, let me show you how this is done. Rex: Yo Hank, **** that slant route bro, we going deep!! |
Re: Rex reporting for duty!
I understand the need for a system guy that can fill in until the Qb of the future can be acquired. The Shanahan's are very publicly committing to Rex when there were other options in the draft and FA. I hope this works.

Re: Rex reporting for duty!
Add one more to the Ben Bandwagon... we're taking this all the way to the waiver line!!!

Instead of a quarterback stable, we have a backup barn.

This guy's so good he can take an armchair nap, have sex with 5 different women, smoke a cigarette, call his friends to tell him how it ain't no thang but a chicken wang, eat a light lunch, and make sure his shoes are tied before throwing deep for a touchdown, all in the span of 10 seconds. Where Brett Favre is known as the gun slinger, Sexy Rexy is known... as the Cumslinger! Impregnating bitches just by glancing at the awesomeness that is a Rex Grossman pass. You can't stop it. You can't hope to contain it. You can only become mezmorized by the beauty of it. |

Re: Rex reporting for duty!
Spurrier must be proud. One of his own has lasted on the Redskins for two consecutive seasons.

Re: Rex reporting for duty!
Key question here:
Did he drop the pen when he went to sign his new contract? :bdh: Enquiring minds ... and all that stuff. |

Re: Rex reporting for duty!
I can't believe I'm typing this but I'm slightly excited (emphasis on slightly) that Rex is there. I've watched the Cowboys, Jags and Giants games a few times this offseason and Rex has a really good grasp of Kyle's offense. He needs to correct three things: holding on to the ball too long, late passes to the flats (3 of his 4 INT last year) and protecting the ball in the pocket. If (big IF) he can suppress his HTM-Human Turnover Machine-tendencies he can be a competent QB for us. I'd give him a 3 win advantage over Beck with this team.

Re: Rex reporting for duty!
i think that grossman will beat beck out,and if he does'nt,Beck will be on a really short leash.

Great post, I pretty much agree. I've still got full games against the Cowboys (2nd), Packers, Bears, Jags, Bucs, Titans, and Eagles (1st) on my DVR, and I've been watching them in my downtime during this offseason. One thing I really noticed is that Rex really does have a better grasp of Shanny's offense than McNabb did. I thought Rex was a disaster based off the 2 minute drill in the Lions game, but he came back at the end of the season and showed he's not as bad as it appeared in that game. He still had turnovers obviously, but he made as many plays as McNabb did and he really showed he's got no quit when he brought us back from down 27-7 against the Cowboys to tie it at 30. Honestly I'd be fine with using him as a stopgap this season until we can get our franchise qb next offseason. If Beck fails, I have a slight reassurance that we have an okay backup in Rex. |
Re: Rex reporting for duty!
I fear John Beck's psyche may never recover if, for whatever reason/s he's not successful in winning the QB competition. The guy has tried so hard and put so much work into his effort, the thought of being "the man" has become an obsession. Just hope he doesn't lose it if he has to suffer a disappointment.

I too think Beck could be setting himself up for disappointment if he doesn't win the job, given how hard he's worked, and the common consensus is that they try to use it as motivation to work even harder to prove they belong. I'd hate for Beck to be upset if he lost the job, but at the same time, I care about my favorite team more than I do for him, and if it's better for the team to put Grossman on the field, than so be it. |

Amen, being a little harsh, I couldn't care less about Beck's feelings -- come in and play well or gtfo |

Guess you weren't too happy w/him in C'ville? I always thought he had potential & I was happy when we signed him. I think he could be alright in Shanny's system given a couple years. |
Re: Rex reporting for duty!
Verica threw at least one pick against 7/8 ACC opponents last year. He had a decent amount of yards, but he picked that up against bad opponents or garbage yards in losses. Also too many picks....

Re: Rex reporting for duty!
Grossman being back is a good thing ... i'm not saying he's an all pro but if you recall a few seasons ago with da bears he absolutely lit up the first half of the season .... not to mention the guy GOT to a super bowl ... i think Beck will get his shot but I feel much better have the Sex Cannon backing him up
