Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
Thought this merited its own thread. Have heard from a couple different people that Shaun Rogers will be visiting the Redskins over the next couple of days
|
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
On April 1, 2010, Rogers was arrested at Cleveland Hopkins Airport for having a loaded gun in his carry on luggage. |
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
Who?
|
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
One of the true stud DLs when healthy. Huge guy capable of holding down the nose. Would be a huge acquisition in terms of talent and impact on the defense.
Some knucklehead tendencies though. |

When motivated the guy can dominate.

Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
Just released by the Browns.

Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
Rank the NTs right now in this league:
1) Vince Wilfork 2) Casey Hampton 3) BJ Raji 4) Shaun Rogers Anybody else that should go ahead of Rogers? That puts it in perspective, he'd be a gigantic addition for us. |

Ahh...well make that 3 different people now |
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
The only reason this is encouraging is that I trust Shanny will give him the Fat Al treatment if he doesn't step up. I really thought Anthony Bryant was impressive in the last couple of games & he looked like starting material. Notice the difference in the D over those games. Let Kemo go, but Don't treat Bryant like Ryan Clark!
|
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
Sign him. Trade Fat Al.
|
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
Is he bringing his guns with him like Gilbert Arenas?
|
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
I love it.......... we need him
|
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
Guy just got released from a team worst then ours? Enough said.

Their future is brighter but last season I think we were the better team. |

Yeah youre right and that is a hard pill to swallow.....but i think we have a glaring need at nose. Can't hurt to bring him in. |
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
I don't think the secret service can handle Rodgers guns
|
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
If he's motivated and healthy he's a great pickup. Of course that "if" is as big as haynesworth's fat ass...

The Browns are moving to a 4-3 defense and probably want to get players that fit the scheme (what a concept!). I would hope that they would sign him to a low-risk deal, and cut him if he doesn't work out. I do hope that Rogers could be a good stop-gap to see if Bryant continues to play well or to get a rookie developed. Although, aren't teams unable to sign free agents due to no CBA? |

Although, aren't teams unable to sign free agents due to no CBA?
You are right about the context of Rogers' release. As said elsewhere, those who think of him as dominant perhaps overlook that he was not very good last year, even leaving aside his injuries. IMO Kenyon Coleman, who plays 3-4 DE, would be the better ex-Brown to get. As for your question, the recently cut Browns became FA's by being cut, not from having lapsed contracts and service years changed by the end of the league year. They also have enough service time to be UFA's. Therefore anyone can sign them now, CBA or not. |

sounds like some other fatass we've all grown to not love. |
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
With the D we had last year and AL. I would take him so he can redeem himself from last year adding him here wont hurt. Shanny doesnt give the starting spot so he would have to prove himself all year.

Rogers would know he's not coming here to loaf & collect one of danny's big checks. |
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
When motivated the guy can dominate.
I agree with Matty Sounding familiar has nothing to do with this guy. The contract is different and he wants to play at the NT. AL was just a big spoiled kid that refused communication and so on and so on....... |
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
excellent if it happens and he is motivated. now, nose tackle is no longer a draft need, we can draft one cam newton, one center/gaurd, and fortify the defense there on out.
|
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
If we can get Rodgers for a price, why not take him. He'll know that he's going to play for a 3-4 D. This season he didn't play that well, but last year, he was a monster.
|
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
I said this would be great on Madden. Put him at Nose, Haynesworth at the other D-End and Bryant at the other D-End you got a huge 3 man front that can cause major havoc. But the issue is that 2 of the 3 are headcases that need to be motivated to play.

Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
Let's see what happens Kemo was coming of a serious injury you know it takes a year to get back to form imagine rotating Bryant, kemo & Rogers at NT.
|
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
Like most of you guys said, by signing Rogers would give us better options for draft.. Although I would prefer it if the contract is low-risk - we can cut him anytime without getting huge hit on the cap.
|
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
get his ass to DC ... baggage smaggage .... this guy can flat out play
|
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
Like I alluded to before. For better or worse, Shanahan can't resist signing D-Lineman that played in Cleveland.
|
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
Wow, three pages so far and I don't think I saw one post that mentioned one minor inconvenience.....no team can sign free agents until a new CBA is in place.
Not to mention that signing Rogers would be yet ANOTHER player on the wrong side of 30 that Washington would sign. What happened to all the folks screaming for a "youth movement" in D.C.? What happened to the folks screaming "Build through the draft"? The good news is, once a CBA is in place he should come cheap, I mean he only started in ONE game all last season. And did the judge give him permission to leave the state of Ohio? There is a little matter of Rogers carrying a loaded handgun through security at Clevelands Int'l Airport. Rogers was good in his prime, but that time has passed. He will never be even half the player he used to be. |
Re: Shaun Rogers and Redskins Talking
Total 100% waste of time even talking to this guy. Rogers is basically an older Albert Haynesworth. Plays when he feels like it, rarely stays in shape and is somewhat of a headcase. Plus he's being flat out released by one of the worst teams in the NFL.
