Good. This is the solution that many of us had hoped for. Maybe we can still get a ham sandwich for him in a trade after the season.

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

Apparently, and according to Shanahan, AH told Bruce Allen that he (AH) would no longer talk to Shanahan.

Okay - Missing a meeting with the boss ("I won't meet with him Tuesday") and then indicating you will never again speak to the boss. Yeah, they may be able to make that stick.

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

Reading Shanny's statement, if it has been well documented and everybody sticks to the script, I am betting AH can kiss these last 4 game checks (and hopefully a pro-rated portion of his signing bonus) good-bye.

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

He'll obviously dispute it to get paid, but the Skins should have a good case as long as they've documented everything, which I'm sure they have.

I approve, but I don't really want to get rid of AH. I want him to change his ways and dedicate himself. I'm still holding out hope.

Better than releasing him in my opinion. Recoup some cash and let him rot, **** HIM!!

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

Hopefully they'll get something for him in the off season but his value is at an all time low. But I still say they shouldn't release him. Try and get something.

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

I wonder, for conduct detrimental, can they get reimbursed for a portion of the signing bonus? I am thinking not, but just don't know.

Does the suspension just apply to games or is he barred from the teams facilities as well?

They won't. I we release him I don't even think anyone would claim him off waivers. He'll eventually wind up somewhere though, probably Tennessee or Detroit.

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

The problem is the AH took the bonus money when he should have said up front he did not want to play in a 3/4. The two side could have figured something out and parted ways and the skins could have saved money and he could have saved his reputation. Now both sides will loose.

I wonder how much money they can recoup from this 4 game suspension?

In the cases of TO and Keyshawn, they were banned from the facility. One would think that the same would be true here. In fact, one would think that this is a major reason for the suspension - to remove the cancer from the situation completely.

Nope. You can only recoup the signing bonus in cases of holdout or retirement.

He tried it in Denver with Daryl Gardener, but they settled and the terms were not released.

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

That the situation has devolved to this extant is really dissapointing. Maybe the Skins can recoup some money. Maybe the Skins can trade him for some value. But if any good is going to come out of it, I hope the Skins will have learned to be much more careful with cutting gargantuan paychecks. This isn't the first time a mammoth contract hasn't worked out for the Skins, though it is definitely the worst to date. Please, let the FO learn from this one.
Chances of that happening: 0.0%
Here's the way I see it:

Shanahan wants dedicated, hard-workers. If AH was just another regular guy, he would have been cut a while ago for his lack of dedication, a la Devin Thomas.

However, I think they held onto him because of the potential. If he does ever mature, he'll be great. So, the question is: will he mature? Brandon Lloyd did, so anything is possible.

about time this tub of lard is put in his place. Refusing to play in base D and on 1st and 2nd down? You can't let him get away with that

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

Yupp frustrating that Skins could have at least got a 4th rounder for him. However, if the Skins got a 4th rounder midseason, it would have pissed fans off more than suspending him now and releasing him at the end of the year.

When you're suspended, they ask for your keys and bann you from the building.

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

I hope we don't cut or trade him. I hope we keep him on the roster and work him to death doing anything the hell we feel like unless he's willing to quit and agree to give the money back. I'd make him carry water buckets and the equipment for guys on the D-line. I'd make him swap out the urinal cakes at FedEx field. I'd make him work as a parking lot attendant before the game starts, so he can incur the wrath of the fans directly. In other words, I say we torture the fat bastard and send a message to the world about these overpaid, self-aggrandizing, whiney divas. That would be worth a slot on our 53-man roster. Not only that, it would help bond the team -- it's easier to unite in the face of an enemy.

Who's with me?

(Ok, Ok - I know we can't do it, but wouldn't it be great?)

I love that Shanny is laying the smack down. Culture needed to be changed....

Honestly this could give the team a spark. Fat Al obviously didn't care about the team.

Haynesworth told Bruce Allen yesterday that he wasn't going to speak with Shanahan anymore. WTF. What a pile of shit this guy is.

I think it is more of a matter that AH had 35m of the owners $$ and he would like to get some back
Building a case...
Could only suspend him for 4 games...
Keeping him around to build the case....

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

It will be interesting to see the reactions from guys on the team. I fully expect them to fall in behind Shanahan and say things along the lines of "it is regrettable and I would like to have seen things work out differently, but Albert has only himself to blame."

I hope Fletch circles the D together and uses this as motivation for this weekend. It's damned Bucs week (can't do the **** expletive-laden version after the beat down we took last week; that would suggest a level of excitement about our prospects that seems wildly unrealistic).

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

Jeeze, just listening to BMitch rant about how bad Shanny has handled this situation. I like BMitch, but dude, it's not like the coaches are trying to blame Fat Al for the "team" failures this season, they're just dealing with a malcontented moron and "his" failure to do WHAT HE WAS PAID TO DO!!

Ruhskins 12-07-2010 01:21 PM

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

A little too late, don't get why people are so preoccupied with money. No one said that fixing Vinny's mess would be cheap.

While AH brought this upon himself, Shanahan could have easily avoided all of this by trading him or cutting him. Now that he has taught the fat overpaid kid a lesson, I hope he focuses on the crappy team we have now.
