Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
This poll is going to be as one sided as the NFC Defensive Player of the Week poll after Monday.
|
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
Best:
1. Hall, of course, Career game. 2. Fat Albert, goal line play was incredible. Watching him push that dude into Cutler for his sack was awesome. 3. Orakpo another great game. 4. Carlos for playing another solid game cover his reciever, but the block down field that got Hall into the endzone. Worst: 1. Effing entire offense. Good god i wanted to punch Kyle Shanny, McNabb, and a host of others on multiple occassions. Just effing pathetic. 2. Gano, 37 yard field goal felt like it would have sealed the game at the time, but seems like even this kick was too much pressure for the kid. Comon' man, step it up 3. McNabb seems to be playing worst and worst over the last several games. I dont get it, he should be improving...??? 4. Our Oline didnt help in protecting McNabb. |
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
Best:
Hall Rak AH Ryan Torian The Entire defense played really well Worst: ATV and his fumbles DMac Armstrong for dropping a sure fire TD in the first half Gano.... really 37 yards |

Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
My best and worst pretty much echoes Chico's except for a couple things.
Best: 1. Hall having a career game obviously. 4 picks? I might never see that again by a Redskins defender in my lifetime. 2. Defense getting turnovers. Rocky forcing that fumble, London getting that goal line turnover (I'm not going to lie, if they had challenged that it would've been a touchdown because the ball already broke the plane), D.Hall 4 picks, and continuing that physical play 3. Sub-theme of #2, defense being physical but playing smart in light of the new rules, aka no head to head shots or anything that might be interpreted as such. 4. Ground game at the end. Refreshing to see us run out the clock for once, instead of giving them one last opportunity. 5. Hunter playing keep away from Devin Hester. Smart strategy, even though it cost us field position yards. So there was a plus and minus of the strategy overall. 6. Defense getting sacks. Most came in the first half and they settled down the second half, but again, sacks and turnovers played huge roles. Worst: 1. Offense. Aka We had great field position on our first 7 drives and only 10 points came out of it. We had a great first quarter minus the McNabb turnover but our second quarter was almost as bad as the Bears' first. We needed to adjust and get the ball out quicker like they did. Instead we kept seeing 5 and 7 step drops when there wasn't enough time to let the play run. 2. Turnovers. Turnovers kept them in the game, same as it kept us in the game. On the Bears defensive touchdown I liked the idea of McNabb getting rid of the ball, but he should've thrown it away from the defenders. Another sub-theme: Ball security. It needs to be preached in practice this week because Torain had 2 fumbles, Cooley had one, McNabb had one as well in addition to his 2 picks. They could've had 6 takeaways easily in this one as well. The difference was the ball bounced our way in this one instead of their way. 3. Sloppy execution on offense. I know the Bears have a good defense, but as shown by the rushing yards we had against them, they aren't invinceable. McNabb needs to play better, because he hasn't improved as the weeks have gone on. 4. O-line. Looks like we still need improvement. Guys need to diagnose where the pressure is coming from better too. Part of this is on McNabb too, he needs to be prepared at the los better because on some of their blitzes he had no clue whether there was gonna be pressure, or where it would come from. |
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
Hall, clearly.
Honourable mention to the zebras for not spotting that Cutler broke the plane before the fumble. :) |
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
Hell or Lovie for not challenging the ruling on the field.
|
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
Best-
Hall AH McIntosh Orakpo Torain Worst- McNabb- Simply SUCKED!! Middle and right side of the OL Fred Davis |
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
best:
obviously deangelo for the four picks. we dont win without him. torain is seriously becoming a more agile, non-past-his-prime brandon jacobs tackling was amazing tonight and me, just for being me. worst: mcnabb, i know they said he has games like this, but DAMN! |
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
Best-
Hall AH McIntosh Orakpo Torain Worst- McNabb- Simply SUCKED!! Middle and right side of the OL Fred Davis
Now come on. He did lead us on that touchdown drive in the first quarter after we spotted the Bears a 7-0 lead. Without that touchdown we would've lost the game. If we don't score that touchdown and Bears go up 14-0, they might not have passed at all in the second half except after they set up the play action by running repeatedly at us. |
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
Best > D. Halls hands, playing against the worst O-line ever, Cutler plays for the Bears. Worst > Our O-line and McNabb is still McNabb. He hasn't been the best QB in the NFCE for a couple years now.
|
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
If Torain keeps this up it will help buy Mcnabb more time to get up to speed. We did a great job at pounding the rock today, against a good D too.
|
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
best: deangelo hall, AH, and the rest of the defense
worst: mcnabb, o-line, playcalling to not help against the blitz/pass rush |
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
Armstrong also dropped a sure fire touchdown pass on a drive in the first quarter. It just seemed as though DMac was a little off all game. To much pressure perhaps, but he also led of to victory against the Pack when he faced the same kind of heat all day.
Like I said in another thread, to get a win when Donovan has a bad day is great. He may come out next week and just light the Bears up. Still stoked we have #5. |
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
Yeah the drops certainly didn't help today.
|
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
Before an investigation is launched, I am the one that voted for Haynesworth....for shits and giggles. Clearly DHall is the man of the match, no question. I think it is clear though that Haynesworth can be a force and valuable to a team lacking DL anchor. It is now clear he should have played last week.

Come on now Matty, Donovan a Pro Bowl QB having to get up to speed? I am starting to understand why the Eagles took the gamble and traded him. He still looks like he has something left in the tank, but he is almost Brunell like. |

Well it shows me that they aren't sitting him out saving him for a future trade for next season, or maybe they have decided to showcase h im after all. I hope they keep him around. Once his sack totals start to rack up, I think he will start to like it here. |
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
i wouldnt go that far. weve seen the type of throws that made us hate him in philly. doesnt matter the type of pro you are, it takes a while to get used to a new system.
|
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
I believe that was the first time I've ever seen a kicker hit the top of an upright square. That I can recall anyways...
Hall was the man today. Haynesworth is playing for his future, whether that be here or elsewhere. He had a very solid game. Torain ran the ball well, but did cough one up. McNabb has to step it up next week. The drops among the receiver corps is getting hairy. The Smiths and punting away from Hester could have very well cost the Skins in the long run hadn't the Bears decided to give it back 6 times. |
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
We're still waiting for that seminal moment from Donovan McNabb, Anthony Armstrong and the whole offense really. I think we saw a major part of it tonight in Ryan Torain with his tough running and his pretty decent blitz pickups and some of my concerns over losing CP are allayed.
Still waiting on that offense, McNabb is not playing well by any measure -- we won in spite of him today |

Yeah, but how complex is this new system? Can't be that hard if you are a vet like McNabb. Plus, it is the execution that is killing us, not just Donovan, but dropped passes, missed blocking assignments. It isn't just Donovan, but he is playing subpar for us. |
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
I don't post very often but I had to log on and give props to DHALL. Reminded me of Sean T that last fateful year when he was really ball hawking constantly. Honorable mention to #92 for absolutely destroying whoever lined up against him.

WE can't kill the kid like Gibbs overused Clinton and ran him into the ground. Hopefully CP can come back in good shape and be able to give the kid a breather. |
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
HUGE win folks 4-1 vs the nfc IS a great start.
|
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
I know, I know: this usually never happens when we play bad teams, but I can't wait for that one game when everything goes well. We've seen Mcnabb have a 300 yard game, Torain with 100+ yards, the defense with 4 turnovers, and good special team play.
I would love nothing more than to drop 30 points, win by two scores, and go into the BYE week with a 5-3 record. Proud of my skins so far though, def. when I thought they would only win 6 games this year. |

He played in one offense for 11 years, and he's 7 games into this new offense, so an adjustment period has to be expected. Just saying it's nice to have a ground game to fall back on for now, but McNabb definitely needs to start picking up his game. Just a little premature to write him off as finished, or assume he's not going to get a new contract here, as some are suggesting. |

But, you know, McNabb turns 34 in November. He's gotten by on veteran guile to this point, keeping us in winnable games, but there's no reason to believe that we would have pulled the trigger on a trade where 1/2 of the way into the remainder of the contract, it's still a "learning experience."
Everyone realized that the only reason you pull the trigger on the trade is to win games in 2010. We're winning games, it's true, but the passing game is non-existent. |
Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
Best: Not trading two first-round picks for Jay Cutler

Might be the worst football game ever for many:

He's not even close to Brunell like. And when you spend 11 years in one system it does take a while to get it going. If you are right-handed and all of a sudden I tell u to write with ur left, you wont be scoring A's in penmanship right off the bat are you? |

McNabb can still push the ball down the field with authority. Nothing is wrong with his arm. |

Not buying this system BS. Missing open wr's and throwing the pick for a TD has nothing to do with getting use to a new system. |

He was flat out awful yesterday. Bears are regretting that trade. |

I give my game ball to Cutler, he did his utmost to help the Skins win. Its obvious the Bears have hitched their wagon to the wrong QB.

I actually though it was a damn exciting game to watch and Mcnabb Haters need to shut up! This team would be 2-5 with JC so chill the hell out.. SMH

Re: Redskins-Bears, Best and Worst
Best:
Defense as a whole. Saw a couple of bone-head plays. RAK pissed me off when get caught off-sides twice on the same drive. But, Dhall was a beast. Worst, Anyone with involvement with the offense. Are you serious? I don't know if it's the scheme or the players, but it's not getting executed. |
