# redskinsblog

Redskins announce signing of veteran linebacker Chris Draft.

New LB Chris Draft worked with def coordinator Jim Haslett in St. Louis.

Draft played in all 16 games last season, starting 3
___

The Redskins have set up the locker room to accomodate 110 players for this weekend's minicamp and have 84 under some sort of contract protection, including 6 rookies, McIntosh, and Rodgers.

That's alot of players to evaluate!

Sounds like he is an ILB, though he is another journeyman.

Re: Redskins Sign Entire Draft: (LB Chris Draft from Buffalo signed)

Well the St. Louis connection to Haslett is clear. While Draft is no big difference maker, he's the kind of guy who can fill a role, and as we all know the key to building a team is having enough of those guys filling good roles.

Our D coordinator knows what he's getting here, if he sticks on our roster it's nice to know that Haslett will deploy him well.

Real nice story. Nice to know we can still get a character guy or two, even with Gibbs gone.

I noticed that too. Whatever happened to the idea that an ILB should be taller?

The big question, are they inviting 110 players or are did they just set up accomodations for 110 players? I know right now we were at 83. I'm not sure if they are or are not counting the tendered players that have not signed. Who else would make up 110 players?

Re: Redskins Sign Entire Draft: (LB Chris Draft from Buffalo signed)

I think I read that we have 100 total between the 84 (including Chris Draft) signed/tendered/rookies, and I guess 16 invitees from the undrafted free agents out there. one example would be the qb from pennsylvania, he is not signed(not in the 84) but is invited to be here.

Good story makes you think what you would do in a situation like that.

Does anyone have the list of invites? Maybe I am a moron like one other blogger mentioned but it seems the invites are the best kept secret. I say this cause I thought we we only had 5-7 UDFA's. Plus your number of 100 is still 10 off from the 110 spaces they have made available.

Doubtful that any of the invitees end up making the roster anyway. Just hold your horses, you'll hear about any who made an impression come Monday.

Yeah I know your right but it just seems like the best kept secret. In yrs past they had no problem or we as fans had no problems getting the list of all the invites. We might have missed 1 or 2 people but it seems like, to me, that we are missing about 15 to 20 names of invites.

Yeah its weird that only like 7-8 names have been leaked yet the washington post claims that there are "two dozen" undrafted players in attendance at the mini camp.

Good signing. Fletch is the man, but any vet LB we can get that can solidly contribute is a good move anytime!!!!!!! At the very least Draft will be a nice addition for depth purposes, but he seems like he could see a lot of playing time!

I talked to one of Draft's college teammates today "Great great guy. Surprised he's lasted this long in the NFL from a talent standpoint but he's such an outstanding guy and hard worker"

He'll help the young guys and others with transitioning.

Re: Redskins Sign Entire Draft: (LB Chris Draft from Buffalo signed)

Chris is a bit of an old vet, and i am sure he has ample football knowledge to pass along to the rest of the lbs. Of course with Lou spanos who knows who will shine under his coaching. I wonder if Lou may end up the dc here next year? Good veteran to have on the team and a good character guy. We shall see with this lb group.

Is ROCKY going to stay with the Redskins this year?
