Rams traded former first-round pick Adam Carricker to Redskins. Still awaiting word on what the Rams get in return. 2 minutes ago via UberTwitter |
re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
Wowzers. If it is a 5th..........i wonder if its this years. Then we'd be down to 3 picks
|
re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
so if it's the 5th rounder, than we have 3 picks left??? wow.
|
re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
a 5th rounder and no players would be a steal.
|
re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
Carriker will be better for the skins than anyone we'd draft in the 5th round. Great move. I wonder if this qualifies as the "big move" JLC has been alluding to.
|
re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
Good I guess, he has been a bust so far, but I think he will have a jump start here. What are we going to do for picks lol? start trading players i guess

re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
SS, I was just about to text you to ask about the details. My buddy called me at work and said he saw it on ESPN.
So, we're trading our 5th rd pick for Carriker. We're down to 3 total picks for this years draft. They must have some kind plan in place to get more picks, right? |

re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
Guess this means they would be willing to ship Haynesworth out. I was hoping for lots of trades to happen to get 8 or 9 picks, but it seems like just the opposite is happening....

They must have some kind plan in place to get more picks, right?
why do we need more picks? we traded our 2nd and got a franchise QB. we traded a 5th for a former 1st rounder who Haslett feels will be an ideal DE in our new 3-4. The only picks this new coaching staff have traded have yielded Day 1 starters. Its rare that 2nd and 5th rounders amount to that. Its not like years past when we traded 3rd and 4th round picks for TJ Ducket and Brandon Lloyd. Its not like 2008 when we traded a 2nd and 6th for Jason Taylor. We're not just pissing away our picks. Would I like to acquire more picks - hell yes. But if we dont, i'm satisfied that we traded our picks for players who will fit our system and who project to be starters in 2010, 2011, and 2012, at the least. The only think i'm upset about is using a 3rd rounder on Jarmon. If we had kept the 4-3, it would have been a great move. however, in retrospect, its a completely wasted pick. Jarmon really doesnt fit anywhere in a 3-4 scheme... I can't beleive we're moving him to OLB. |
re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
Wow Redskins get there man. Honestly I feel this is a great deal, Carriker is better than any player they would pick in the 5th round.

Oh Hell Yeah! |
re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
This draft is a very deep draft. I feel like many teams are willing to get picks for under-performing players by shipping them out, even if it's a 5th rounder (Holmes, Carriker). But who will be willing to take Haynesworth, Campbell, and possibly McIntosh except for other teams that are horrible with the draft (Oakland)?
Guess I'll say a pray for ol' DC that Jim Schwartz wants Haynesworth back and Oakland/Buffalo miss out on one of the top 4 QBs and will take Campbell for a 4th rder or something. |

Tj Ducket was a beast in the goal line and would be that big back we need. with JT, our defensive line just improved so much! here is the thing: we need offensive lineman bad. We need 3 or 4 of them. We need to get younger. |
re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
I hope he's better than Cody Glenn, just to put a little perspective on what a 5th rounder could be.
|
re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
Wow...hopefully getting Haynesworth off our roster will yield a pick higher than a 5th rounder.

re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
Could someone post a brief bio/stats about Carriker?
I don't know much about him. He was in St. Louis with Haslett as his DC, yes? |

Ok, I think I have the details (still no confirmation):
We traded our 5th for Carriker and their 5th |
so if it's the 5th rounder, than we have 3 picks left??? wow.
Who cares, he's better than our 5th-round pick probably would be. I expect us to pick up a bunch of picks on draft-day trades anyways. We have several players who will likely be traded.
Ok, I think I have the details (still no confirmation): We traded our 5th for Carriker and their 5th
Wait, so we took a quality player AND moved up a few picks in Round 5? Why would the Rams do this? :D edit: Nevermind, read your correction. |
re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
so they are really gonna try and make a run for the playoffs instead of a true rebuild it looks like. it's gonna be really interesting to see what we get for, and where soup and fat al end up. i have a sneaky suspiscion we won't know dick until roughly around 7:45 est thursday night

re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
I like that we got him but I was hoping they would have taken some players that didn't fit our scheme instead of the draft pick.
Ok, I think I have the details (still no confirmation):
We traded our 5th for Carriker and their 5th
Bump for clarification: It's not their 5th (as in the first pick in that round), it's a 5th they got from Philly (as in closer to the bottom of the round) |

Thanks, NYCSkinsfan.
Where was he last year? Injured? On the bench? |
I hope he's better than Cody Glenn, just to put a little perspective on what a 5th rounder could be.
Cody Glenn is rare... put in real perspective all 32 teams will have passed on these players 4 times and some teams even will have passed on these guys 5 times. While only 13 teams passed on Carriker once when he was drafted. |
Ok, I think I have the details (still no confirmation):
We traded our 5th for Carriker and their 5th
This doesn't make much sense? If we only swapped 5th rounders then we got him for virtually nothing? |

re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
Conflicting reports reported. :D
Adam Carriker ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Redskins have acquired DT Adam Carriker from the Rams. Reports differ on the return. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch says the Rams will receive a fifth-round pick while Scout.com's Adam Caplan reports the Rams will send the fifth-rounder they acquired from Philly to the Redskins. Former Rams coach Jim Haslett has been pushing to be reunited with Carriker since he got the Skins' coordinator job a couple of months ago. The addition of the former No. 13 overall pick makes it much more likely that Albert Haynesworth will be dealt in the next few days.
Interesting final statement... |
