Well Adam seems to hint at sumthin

Adam_Schefter

A prediction that's no April Fool's joke: There will be at least one NFL trade made today (but not the one everyone's waiting for).

Well to be fair, Adam Schefter's generic statement could be used to fuel multiple April Fool joke trades.

I don't think it has anything to do with trust. It's the timing of the trade, of all days to do it ... on April Fools? Until it's on the Redskins main page or Cooley confirms it... I call April Fools.

Even the Sports Junkies said it's BS right after Fox 5 announced it.

Sam Bradford ruptured his shoulder today carrying his lugage at dulles airport for his skins visit. He'll be out for 6 months, but will still be the number 1 pick, according to Wikipedia.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)

Football Outsiders:
"Gaither has been a starter for the past two seasons and in that time his metrics have been nothing short of superb. He has allowed only seven total sacks in 27 games and only one of these was a one-on-one sack (defined as when a defender beats a blocker in a one-on-one environment and tackles the quarterback in the pocket within three seconds of the snap). That illustrates Gaither's dominant pass blocking skills, but his run blocking numbers are also quite notable. Gaither was at the Point of Attack (POA) on 300 running plays the past two years and he won his block 255 times, or 85 percent of the time. That is a solid number on its own, but his 2009 POA win rate of 89.0 percent is even more noteworthy. To put that total into perspective, consider that in a typical NFL season, a little less than one out of ten offensive linemen will crack the 90 percent POA win mark. Gaither was on the precipice of that mark last year despite battling injuries."
I caught in the middle thinking something to the effect of "why are they using this ghetto camera style and why is Rich standing while Merriman sits?" I didn't realize till the end.

So Jimmy Clausen visiting this weekend and then Colt McCoy on Tuesday

So here are the QBs we've reportedly shown interest in:

Sam Bradford: Doubt he'll fall to 4, but would love it

Jimmy Clausen: He'll be there at 4, some days I think he's great other days I see the worst of Jason Campbell in him

Colt McCoy: I like his moxie, chutzpah, spunk what have you but I'm not totally convinced he's significantly better than Brennan. Think he's the odds on fave at the moment though

Tim Tebow: A mystery wrapped in a riddle

John Skelton: Skelton!!!!!! Lack of accuracy and questionable leadership. Love the arm, but don't want him here

Zac Robinson: Underrated college QB, not sure he has what it takes to be a full-time starter in the NFL though

Jonathan Crompton: Anyone have any thoughts on him?

Tim Hiller/Max Hall: Possible UDFA pickups, particularly Hall.

Have we not shown any love for Jevon Snead? I know he had a terrible year but this is a chance for us to get a guy a lot of "draft gurus" were tabbing to go in the top 5 next year, in a late round (possible with our 4th rounder), and have him regain his confidence under Shanahan.

SmootSmack 04-02-2010 08:04 AM

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)

I haven't heard of any interest in Snead...which of course means that's exactly who Shanahan will draft :)

CultBrennan59 04-02-2010 09:13 AM

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)

^according to NFL network, Shanahan didn't even meet with Jay Cutler when he drafted him a few years back, so honestly I think any QB is in play right now to be drafted.

it's a done deal.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles today announced they have traded CB Sheldon Brown and LB Chris Gocong to the Cleveland Browns for LB Alex Hall, a 4th round draft choice (105th overall) and a 5th round draft choice (137th overall) in 2010.

"Sheldon Brown has been a very good football player for the Eagles over the last eight years,"" said head coach Andy Reid. ""He's a good person, a legitimate tough guy and he'll do a good job helping the Browns. Chris did a good job converting from defensive end to linebacker and helped us win a lot of football games. We wish both of them all of the best."

Added general manager Howie Roseman, "Sheldon and Chris have been nothing but professionals on and off the field during their tenure in Philadelphia and we wish them all the best as they continue their careers in Cleveland. Alex Hall is a big, athletic linebacker who we've had our eyes on over the last couple of years and he'll have a chance to compete at the SAM linebacker spot."

The 6-5, 250-pound Hall played in 30 games (2 starts) for the Cleveland Browns and recorded 30 tackles and three sacks, while adding 18 stops on special teams. His sacks came in three consecutive games during the early portion of his rookie campaign of 2008. Hall was a 7th round draft choice of the Browns.

A native of Springdale, MD, Hall finished as the all-time leader in sacks at St. Augustine's College with 26. He also posted 156 total tackles, including 51 for a loss, four fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble.

With the acquisition of Cleveland's 5th round pick, the Eagles now have 10 total selections in this year's draft: 1st round (24th overall), 2nd round (55), 3rd round (70, from Seattle), 3rd round (87), 4th round (105, from Cleveland), 4th round (121), 5th round (137, from Cleveland), 6th round (200, from Indianapolis), 7th round (243, compensatory pick), and 7th round (244, compensatory pick).
