Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
Romanowski wants to be Redskins strength coach
Steroid enthusiast Bill Romanowski wants to be the strength and conditioning coach of the Washington Redskins, according to Pro Football Talk. No, that's not a joke. The man who has admitted using steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs wants to run the conditioning program for our beloved Burgundy & Gold.
|
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
I am not for Performance enhancing drugs, but I am willing to bet that he knows everything about a body's ability and how to get the most out of it. I would have no problem with this selection.
|
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
Not too sure about this one. There have to be better candidates out there. I'm sure he's a workout machine though.
|
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
Outside of his steroid use he is a A one asshole.
|
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
That doesn't sit right with me. I'd like to hear a few more sources confirm it, but I wouldn't warmly welcome a cheater into the organization.
|
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
Romanowski and Haslett together! That'll be just great
|
Outside of his steroid use he is a A one asshole.
Oh yeah, he's a top-shelf D-bag for sure. If this hire happens, I wouldn't be surprised if at some point one (or more) of the players hauls off and pops him in the mouth during a workout. |
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
I was never a big fan of this guy at all, thought he was dirty and there's the well documented PED use. There's gotta be someone better out there. Hopefully Shanny is just doing him a favor with this interview by getting his name out there.

re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
Perhaps he is a jerk. Maybe that's what these little crybabies need? I'm just saying . . . .

I'll admit, it would be fun to see him up in the face of lazy guys like Portis. |
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
Never liked this guy. He should look for more work acting in roles like he had in "The Longest Yard."
|
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
No thanks. I really don't even care that the guy took steriods. It's that he totally disrespected the game by being a very dirty player. Plus he doesn't have any experience in being a head trainer for a pro team. If he wants the job so bad he needs to start from the bottom and work his way up.

Again, fully agree. |
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
First thing he would do is set up a trip to Balco labs BALCO link in '99 case / Romanowski got banned hormone, wife told sheriff - SFGate.
I say bring back Dan Riley!! |

And can't keep his spit in his mouth, he spat on one of our players in a game (I can't remember who it was) when he was playing for the 49ers. Didn't have any idea he was into strength and conditioning. |
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
Everyone deserves a chance, but in his case HELL NO!

One of our players has done that before too...doesn't make it right. I heard Romo on the Jim Rome show. He's definately a nutrition nut...maybe a nut in general. He did a great interview though. |

i got 100 on romo everybody makes mistakes, back then steriods weren't what they have become now, i don't see a problem with him as a strength coach, if allen and shanny think it's good for the team then i'm all in |

He spat on TO when he was with the Broncos and TO with the 49ers. |
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
i thought he spit on jj stokes? maybe im wrong.
as for the possible hire, i would like it. if someone is out of shape or not working hard enough, romanowski will tear him a new one. we've become lazy (portis). |
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
I think he was a one time steriod user he will not have/get respect of the weight room the comments will be you did it on roids.
|
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
BAD< BAD<BAD idea.
Like inviting an active alcoholic to run an AA meeting. The guy is dirty, an admitted cheater, has no experience coaching, and a disgrace to the game. How could a player have respect for a guy's methods if his methods were NEVER PROVEN since he was juicing to get results. |

Well, that's that. Although I really disagree with this quote: "...even the mere granting of an interview to this pill-popping thug is the equivalent of the Redskins shooting another middle finger to the rest of the league, and to its fans." Typical Florio. What a douche. |

re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
I would like to work for Skins to, but that does not mean it will happen. I am sure Romo would like to work for a pro team.
Romo is not a respected player or person. He was known for being a a dirty, cheap shot artiest, former juice head and is famous for spitting on JJ Stokes and assaulting former teammate Marcus Williams that broke his eye socket and basically ended his career. Williams recounts alleged assault Not someone you want working for you in a very public position. |

Scumbag, he belongs in Dallas.

He's a bum... he'll never get a job in the league

Florio once again proving to be the King of All Douches

re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
#1- I don'tcare about the steriod issue. A lot of people have checkard pasts and as long as he has learned from it who the F cares.
#2- Lots of players get strength and conditioning type of diplomas. #3- Having said all that .... there has to be a better candidate out there. Were not talking about hiring someone to simply give someone a work out at the gym, were talking about someone who has to develope different routines for different players and their positions. Then work on different eating habits for each position if not for each player. I guess my issue is if he is not already in this type of position or is currently doing this job for people already and has fine tuned his skills to help the team then I don't see the upside to hiring him. If I'm not mistaken he's a tv announcer for ESPN. They want to help a friend out hire him as an Assistant to the Strength and Conditioning coach. |
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
I also think it's funny how Romanowski is doing anything he can to be a part of this Redskins team now that we picked up Shanahan. He mentioned he would like to be the OL coach, and it was given to someone else. Now he mentions he would like to be the Strength and Conditioning coach. Next it will be Water Boy. :) I just think it's funny how he's frantically trying to get on the team. Yet is not trying to get on anywhere else.

re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
Why don't they just sign Ben Johnson as speed coach.

Well in defense of Florio, and damn, i feel dirty even saying that, he was reporting what Jay Glazer from Fox reported. He did confirm on his Twitter he was in DC and did confirm he saw Shanahan. Ok, to now go clean up. |

Ok, to now go clean up.
It wasn't Florio's report of Romanowski that he's talking about, it was the little BS shot he threw at the Redskins at the end of his entry. Saying how the Skins even considering Romanowski is somehow a form of flipping the rest of the league and all it's fans a middle finger. |
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
I don't really care that he used PED's in terms of getting a stength job, he does seem to know how the body works...however, I just can't stand the man, and don't want such a jackass as a skin.
|
re: Update: Ray Wright Named Strength & Conditioning Coach
I saw an interview where Romanowski said he didn't start roids till he got to Oakland. In his younger years he could do it all naturally but w/ age he needed the juice to recover etc. I believed him.
He's not coming here right? |
