QB Stats from Around the League

Draw your own conclusions:
comp/att yds td/int
Brunell 8/22 95 1/1
Harrington 12/23 101 1/1
Palmer 20/36 148 1/1
Roethlisberger 21/25 193 2/0
Carr 16/26 266 1/1
Rattay 18/28 286 1/1

Notice, these guys aren't McNabb, Manning, Farve, these guys are rookies or young QB's. And it's not just this week

MTK 10-17-2004 08:52 PM

can we have another Brunell sucks thread????

And The Numbers Don't Lie

redwagonskins 10-17-2004 08:54 PM

It's just a bunch of #'s Matty. Like I said, draw your own conclusions.

wolfeskins 10-17-2004 08:55 PM

i've got a good question,what sucks more?
a-a vaccume cleaner
b-a hooker
c-mark brunell

redwagonskins 10-17-2004 08:59 PM

Some more #'s:

Droughns 38 176 1td
Portis 36 171 0
W. Green 25 115 0
A. Green 21 81 0

Pretty good work by Clinton and our O line. I think guys can stop beating up on them for a while.

That Guy 10-17-2004 09:01 PM

roth was 21/25, holy crap...

joecrisp 10-17-2004 09:08 PM

The numbers are undeniable; what is at question is how much of the blame Brunell himself deserves for those numbers.

It seems the more opportunities Brunell gets to disprove the "Brunell sucks" theorists, the more he feeds their arguments (mine included).

If and when Ramsey gets the opportunity to start, I hope the Brunell apologists will grant Ramsey as much amnesty as they have afforded Brunell. I'm certain, however, that won't be the case. Why? Because one game should be all Ramsey needs to prove he is worthy of being the starter, shouldn't it?

dragontat7169 10-17-2004 09:29 PM

Well...let's just say this. Ramsey doesn't make the money that Brunell does and lacks the experience. I would not expect Ramsey to come out and win his first game or even his second. But what I would expect is at least the leadership that the offense desperately needs. I don't see Brunell as being the leader, in my opinion he is just there to collect a paycheck.

redwagonskins 10-17-2004 09:33 PM

Roth looked like a 5 year vet today.

My comment is that every week the offense as a whole is held accountable vice blaming the QB and that's good. This week, the D was outstanding giving up 3 POINTS, the O line opened 171 yds worth of holes which Portis exploited and with all of this we win 13-10? At some point, however, there has to be personal accountability. I'm glad Gibbs has been sticking with one QB rather than the usual QB carousel, and he knows a lot more than I do, but when our QB scores 70% of their points it makes me wonder. I would love to have an insiders (ie player's) perspective if they feel Brunell is their leader and they are moments from clicking offensively or whether they see him as a liability on the field that can't be trusted to make tough throws in tough postions. Maybe the bye week is what they need to come out and put up 28 points a game but if we can't do it against a rookie corner and the Bears secondary then you have to wonder.
And Matty, no I don't think that Brunell sucks, I just don't think he's giving us the best chance to win lately.

What about the not so-special teams. We are not getting anything from Chad Morton and no one mentioned the TD that they allowed against the Ravens.

SKINSnCANES 10-17-2004 10:02 PM

somebody pleaes post ramseys numbers when he played this year. its not like he came in and had 3tds and made it so we dont understand why hes not starting.

most of us were saying how bad ramsey looked and realized brunell was the lesser or two evils at this poitn. that doesnt mean hes good, just better than ramsey right now

Ramsey threw 3 picks but he moved the ball down the field. And atleast on of those picks was not his fault.

Right now, Brunell is one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the league. He's had five full games and most of a sixth game to change that, but he hasn't. Nor has he thrown 3 TDs in a game to justify himself as the starter, either. If he had, most of us wouldn't be screaming for Ramsey-- or any QB-- to replace him.

Sheriff Gonna Getcha 10-17-2004 10:43 PM

I don't think Ramsey is going to light up any scoreboard and he'll make more mistakes than Brunell. However, he will lead us in the right direction and learn while Gibbs does. It's about time to work on the future (Ramsey) because the past (Brunell) isn't taking us anywhere.

SKINSnCANES 10-17-2004 10:45 PM

i want ramsey to plya, but im afraid hes going to come in, mabye have one good game, then throw more picks then brunell.

but whatever, brunell is supposed to be teh vet and hes making stupid plays, so screw it, lets groom the guy thats supposed to be our future

redwagonskins 10-17-2004 10:48 PM

I don't want Ramsey to get benched again if he struggles. That's my biggest fear that he'll lose the rest of his confidence. We're 2-4, do we stick with Brunell and let Ramsey learn or do we throw him to the fire and live with his mistakes? Problem is Brunell's not really tearing it up and he'd be an expensive clipboard carrier. Should be an interesting bye week.

MTK 10-17-2004 11:12 PM

Guys, I'm not defending Brunell by saying can we have another Brunell sucks thread, I'm saying let's stop with posting multiple threads about the same topic.

I think at this point we have enough threads about Brunell. Aren't we giving this horse a good ol beatdown?

how much am I paying b?

Drift Reality 10-18-2004 12:33 AM

I have a feeling that Brunell has a very short leash, if for no other reason than because he is 33-years-old. If we become mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, I think there is absolutely no reason not to put Ramsey in there.

uhh... i remember hearing bloody murder about that TD, and every game we've said ST sucks... EVERY SINGLE GAME! chad doesn't have blockers most of the time, he's not the problem there... today he even tried to return 2-3 kicks with NO ONE but bears around, but got like 2, 3, and -2 yards on those plays...

chad's not really the problem, danny smith is.
