It's time, Gibbs please pull the trigger on this

Duffman003 10-17-2004 04:08 PM

if anyone votes Tim Hasselback they don't really like the Redskins.

ZackMills 10-17-2004 04:08 PM

mark all the way

aehs77 10-17-2004 04:08 PM

Gibbs Is standing by his man But it needs to stop

redwagonskins 10-17-2004 04:09 PM

Brunell gives up more TD's than our D. They don't trust him to make critical throws.

dragontat7169 10-17-2004 04:09 PM

Hey Matty...

Honestly, I think Ramsey should be at the helm. Brunell has been a multimillion dollar mistake in my opinion. At least with Ramsey our expectations aren't as high, so the disappointment will be minimal. Ramsey needs the experience and is not getting it on the bench..but I have said that before. Actually I would rather have Hasslebeck (however you spell it) than Brunell. He has not impressed me and is not worth the 22 million. At least he didn't make any mistakes this game.

Gmanc711 10-17-2004 04:10 PM

Brunell sucks, I dont knwo if it will happen this week, since we won. However, he gives these teams hope, and really ruins our momentum. And if I see him throw the ball out of bounds one more time...... I'm going to kill myself. Whatever. I'm happy though we won. At the begining of the game, he played alright, but he gives the other teams too much of a chance. Go with Ramsey.

aehs77 10-17-2004 04:10 PM
mark all the way
You know Ramsey's first name is Patrick right

monk81 10-17-2004 04:10 PM
if anyone votes Tim Hasselback they don't really like the Redskins.
Hey maybe a vote for Tim was a vote for his wife........ :laughing-

Jamaican'Skin 10-17-2004 04:13 PM

I have not been impressed with Brunnel. Its your turn Pat

LRT 10-17-2004 04:14 PM

Against a team with any kind of passing game we'd be 1-5 thanks to Mark Brunell. Mark is nice guy and Gibbs kind of guy, but he has to take a seat. Let's see what Patrick Ramsey can do with a running game to help him out.

RedskinRat 10-17-2004 04:15 PM

ZackMills is Mark Brunell. You never see them in the same place together, right?

LRT 10-17-2004 04:16 PM
ZackMills is Mark Brunell. You never see them in the same place together, right?
Couldn't be. I think even Mark Brunell knows he's hurting the team at this point.

aehs77 10-17-2004 04:16 PM

Brian Mitchell Is on csn right now I think he should play QB against the bears

aehs77 10-17-2004 04:19 PM

I mean the packers

redwagonskins 10-17-2004 04:23 PM

It's obvious that the coaching staff doesn't trust Brunell anymore. Don't you think the team sees that? During clutch parts of the game, we didn't even pretend like we would attempt a throw. They might as well direct snap to Portis and take out the middle man.

That Guy 10-17-2004 04:24 PM

ramsey, there's not any option or choice at this point... brunell is done, over and out...

SmootSmack 10-17-2004 04:46 PM

Gibbs's post game: "I think Mark played smart, we played turnover free ball (what?). I think what we had was some missed assignments. I think the two weeks will give Mark a chance to get healthy. He adds another dimension because he can roll out in the pocket"

At least I think that's what I heard. Anyone else hear this?

SKINSnCANES 10-17-2004 04:47 PM

lol, 24-0 is the vote. yet i bet hes still the starter

aehs77 10-17-2004 04:47 PM

Yea that was it smootsmack. looks like were going to see gibbs again

That Guy 10-17-2004 04:48 PM

i call bullsh*t, i mean god, how can he not see the same thing 400000000000 other people are seeing???

if he doesn't pull the trigger during the bye, gibbs and i are in for a bit of a falling out... fists might be thrown...

SKINSnCANES 10-17-2004 04:50 PM

lol, imagine gibbs in a fight. serioulsy id hit a girl before i hit him. hes just so small and cute.

joecrisp 10-17-2004 04:54 PM

Ramsey. But I don't think it will happen. Gibbs just won't do it unless Brunell physically can't play... well, okay, so Brunell physically can't play already, but Gibbs isn't going to pull the switch right after steadfastly reiterating his conviction that Brunell is not the problem. It's not because Gibbs thinks Ramsey can't play any better, but he simply thinks it would be wrong to replace Mark when he feels that Mark is not the source of the problems with the passing game.

I firmly believe, however, that Brunell is indeed the problem with the passing game, and he has done nothing to convince me otherwise all season.

While Ramsey may not set the world on fire immediately, and he will likely make some mistakes, he simply has the ability to move this offense much more effectively than Brunell. The productivity and points that Ramsey would generate as quarterback outweigh any potential mistakes. This team was very close to being 1-5 today, and the primary reason would have been Brunell's inability to generate any kind of consistent passing game. The outstanding defensive effort saved Brunell's butt today.

SKINSnCANES 10-17-2004 04:56 PM

so Gibbs, who fault is it that the ball is never near a reciever? i guess the reciver was supposed to run a route out of bounds but didnt do it.

joecrisp 10-17-2004 04:58 PM

Actually, Coles did run his route out of bounds on one of those passes, and he still couldn't get to the ball!

SUNRA 10-17-2004 05:15 PM
if anyone votes Tim Hasselback they don't really like the Redskins.
Anybody that votes for Ramsey wants the sack and interception stats to increase with great velocity. Take all polls you want Ramsey's not playing until Brunell is carried off of the field. Now you're definitely are not a Redskins fan if you wish this on Brunell.

skinsguy 10-17-2004 05:16 PM

Ok, I have come to the defense of Mark Brunell many times, but I have to say that after today, I am rethinking my position. Although we won today, we all know that 13 points does not get the job done, and it almost didn't get the job done today either. Its not that I have that much faith in Ramsey, but my faith in Brunell is starting to fade.

SmootSmack 10-17-2004 05:25 PM

Brunell can get the job done when the opponent has Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman starting at QB but when we play Favre next week we're going to need someone who can put up more than 95 yards passing. Ramsey could do that on two throws

SUNRA 10-17-2004 05:26 PM

I have defended Brunell too. What I noticed about Brunell's passes that seemed to be thrown out of bounds, 1) Coles was pushed out of bounds and tried to come back in to catch it,so that's a no winner. 2) Was the play when Coles was wide open and it looked like the ball was deflected. Brunell missed bad on that one if that wasn't a deflection. The O line is still struggling. Lastly, you will agree that the play calling is too conservative but understandably so. No Oline, no strong QB = the running game, but let's see some screens or slant passet across the middle. Wait a minute I don't know about that one. Let's keep Portis in the groove.

SKINSnCANES 10-17-2004 05:27 PM

our defense has been so good all we have needed is a qb that doesnt give up points. which we havent had. when we play farve we are goign to need to score. i love our d but green bay is averaging what, 35 points a game this year. i dotn think we can score that many points until brunell even if he fixes his mistakes.

That Guy 10-17-2004 06:17 PM

once again, ramsey has a higer TD/game and lower TD/turnover ratio, has a higher yard per play average AND gives up about 28 less points... and i honestly doubt he'd get sacked much more, the oline has been much much much better than last year. so that arguement is dead, and brunell still sucks.

the Oline was above average today, and the running game was there, you can't blame brunell's sucking on either of those factors this week, he sucked hard and all on his own... even i could see wide open receivers often... the play calling asked for deep passes, which were only about 4 miles off target... the play calling was conservative cause the QB couldn't hit anything over 10 yards... it was conservative because IT HAD TO BE, brunell was too crappy to open anything up.

2 games in a row, less than 100 yards passing, averaging 7 points given up per game, under 40% completion rate, about 4 yards per play... he's done, bench him... goodbye.

MTK 10-17-2004 06:17 PM

I'm really hoping the passing game's struggles aren't due soley to Brunell and they can get things fixed, but right now when you look at the stats and the way he's played... how can you defend Brunell anymore??

Bozzy 10-17-2004 06:23 PM

Jesus christ, Ramsey.

Yes, I said Jesus Christ or Ramsey...God is a great QB.

That Guy 10-17-2004 06:46 PM

i'd hope so... that walking on water has got to confuse at least a couple linebackers... and wine raining from the sky has got to be distracting as well... well, wine and locusts...

Daseal 10-17-2004 07:07 PM

Brunell has thrown tons of TDs. Unfortunatly none of them into the hands of Redskin receivers =p

wolfeskins 10-17-2004 07:46 PM

i just got back from taco bell and you guys will never guess what i saw floating in the bathroom toilet.........IT WAS MARK BRUNELL

offiss 10-17-2004 08:02 PM

Bottom line, Gibb's is having a real hard time swalling the decision to go after Brunell, he was one of the few who wanted him, most on this board were against it at the time, right now it's a joke that we gave up any kind of draft pick for this guy, let alone 43 million dollar's, and yes I would vote for TH, if it was between him and Brunell, Brunell is that bad.

SmootSmack 10-17-2004 10:37 PM
Jesus christ, Ramsey.

The only play in our playbook would be the Hail Mary

Brute44 10-18-2004 05:58 AM

If Ramsey starts this game we LOSE. Gibbs knows it and the whole team knows it. As for the deflected interception that went 70 yards for a TD, I feel that this team has had some horrible luck with the whole turnover thing and that will continue until this team gets on a winning streak and confidence to boot. Brunell played well enough to win, yes he made some bad throws but hes hurt and HE IS NOT A ROLLOUT TYPE PASSER. I hope that coach sees this and make some changes with the scrambling /rollout play calls. The majority of Brunell's bad throws came off of rollouts. This has continued to be a pattern throughout the season. What worries me about this game is the fact that the defense, for the third week in a row continues to struggle against the run late in the game. I don't even know if I should say late in the game or the entire second half. I'm not criticizing them, they played there hearts out. Other that that, WE WON GUYS. Enjoy the next two weeks. :food-smil
