Who will the skins cut to make room for Pakulak?
The skins have to cut a player from the 53 man roster to make room for Pakulak the new punter. Who do you think it will be? I'm guessing Alridge or Mason, but hope is Betts.

I don't think Betts can be cut that easily. I'm no Schneed but he has signed a long term contract within the last two years meaning that we could go over the salary cap due to the prorated acceleration of his signing bonus upon his release. I don't think he is an option. I doubt we can cut him during this season. |

Montgomery to IR

It depends on his contract status. I don't remember off the top of my head how much or how long he signed for. As long as they weren't signed for big cash/signing bonus within the last three years then they would be cutable...Mason and Alderidge are the most likely candidates. |
Re: Who will the skins cut to make for Pakulak?
check here for some clues, it's not going to be someone like Betts or Smoot

Re: Who will the skins cut to make for Pakulak?
Who the hell knows, but in semi related news. We are still in search of another RB, former Terp gets a look.
Redskins Insider - Your daily source for news and commentary on the Washington Redskins, by Jason Reid Former Terp Lattimore Gets a Look In their ongoing quest to have every unsigned running back on their 53-man roster, the Redskins on Friday worked out former Maryland running back Keon Lattimore, Ray Lewis's brother, but do not plan to sign him because they have no roster room, a league source said. Earlier this week, the Redskins worked out former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Henry, who played under offensive coordinator Sherman Smith when Smith with the Titans' running backs coach. The Houston Texans are expected to sign Henry. Lattimore, who received an injury settlement from Dallas, came in for a tryout while the Redskins were trying to determine whether injured punter Hunter Smith would be able to play Sunday against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. Smith was injured on his first punt in the 16-13 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Smith's groin injury has not improved enough to have him active for the game, Coach Jim Zorn said after practice at Redskins Park, so the team plans to sign punter Glenn Pakulak from the practice squad. The Redskins have to cut a player to make room for Pakulak. Having to add Pakulak, who also will hold for place kicker Shaun Suisham, ended any chance of adding a running back this week. But with Clinton Portis, Ladell Betts, Marcus Mason, Anthony Alridge and Rock Cartwright at the position, perhaps the Redskins will find a way to muddle through against the Panthers. All kidding aside, the Redskins obviously have serious concerns about their ability to be effective in the running game this season. They're still searching for a spark at the position, and it seems clear major changes are coming at running back for this team next season. |

Already in it. How about Wynn? He's been inactive for 4 weeks. |
Already in it. How about Wynn? He's been inactive for 4 weeks.
Wynn is what I was thinking.
There's plenty of people who won't make it through the season. Smoot, Aldridge, Batiste, Henson possibly among them. But Wynn has been inactive every week, and I think he'll be the one to go this week. And it has a lot to do with the play of Daniels, I think. Remember though, that Wynn's entire salary is guaranteed for the year, so he's paid for 17 weeks whether he ever plays a snap or not. |
Montgomery to IR
I agree. He's been inactive because of injury hasn't he? With the guys we have I don't see him playing alot this year. Besides, Golston is Blache's guy. |
Re: Who will the skins cut to make for Pakulak?
Either Wynn, Henson or Monty to the IR.
|
Re: Who will the skins cut to make for Pakulak?
How bout Wynn AND Betts
|
Re: Who will the skins cut to make for Pakulak?
I would think Wynn or Alridge. Wynn seems more expendable particularly with Jarmon starting to come along, but wiith Montgomery out at least two more weeks and Griffin possibly out this SUnday (and maybe longer) they might need to start looking at Daniels playing more minutes inside...so does that mean Wynn is activated? Probably not actually.
I could see them possibly cutting Alridge and then hoping to re-sign him once they cut Pakulak. But I suspect one reason they might be trying out all these running backs is in case they cut Alridge but are unable to re-sign him. |

If we're going to keep a guy only to have him inactive on game day, why not a young talent we're trying to develop (a la Rinehart last year)?? No point on having a guy in the twilight of his career on the inactive list every damn Sunday. |

I think that Dan and Vinny are reading this thread waiting to see the consensus after about 50 replies before they make their decision today. Maybe the mods can help them out and add a pole because the suspense is killing me.

Well I guess Vinny read this post. :-) |
Re: Who will the skins cut to make for Pakulak?
Why did we resign Alridge and we have not used him on the offense or return teams? The most explosive offensive weapon next to S. Moss and he never touches the field. I guess our coaches are afraid he may fumble the ball. Way to have confidence in your players.

Re: Who will the skins cut to make for Pakulak?
Cut the offensive line. Keep Pakulak.

Wynn is back!! Pakulak has been cut.

I still think it's disgusting that our punter has as many rushing TDs as our highly paid running back. |
