Fire The Specail Teams Coach!!!
Well after seeing the game in person and watching the constant failings of the special teams I saw what I think was the most classless display by a coach or player. After the botched fake field goal attempt by the Browns, He made the fu gesture with his arms, not once but 5 times. Sorry but that takes the cake with me.
|
care to elaborate a little more?
|
Yea, I want to here more, I also believe Bett's should be our main return guy on kichoff's, and see if he can take punt's as well, he's the only guy we have on kickoff's who can actually break an arm tackle.
|
Trash ran right into the first oncoming guy he saw. I think Morton is a great returner, but Betts should be next to him.
|
Whats more to add then the coach flipping the other team off with such verosity. Totally bogus and classless. Lets see if the press acutally reports this.

DUDE FU...... gesture to who? the fans? the players? the waterboy? the other coaches? the air? WHO? Who is he.......? The Skins or Browns special teams coach was doing this? |

"fu" is not totally understandable at first. I didn't catch it till I read it again after reading some other posts. |

What else is new? Portis does that every time he touches the ball. |
Let me see if I can simplify a bit what CRT3 is saying: The Browns called a trick play-fake field goal. Upon seeing the nerve of the Browns to call such a play, an irate Danny Smith (the Redskins Special Teams coach) said "not in my house (even though the game was in Cleveland)" with an emphatic "Fudge You" arm gesture directed five times at....CRT3, who was up in the stands with a hot dog in one hand a beer in the other and was just stunned, stunned I tell ya, that Smith would turn around at the moment in the game and take his frustrations out on him
Am I even remotely close here? |

wow I'm lost
|
Smoot, lovin' the interpretation of events. But perhaps it wasn't the FU signal at all, perhaps he was trying to lob quarters at players standing behind him using his arm as a catapult and his other arm as a "thrust generator". ( you may have to try it a few times, but I assure you, it works)
|
???

Yet again CRT3 makes no sense. Perhaps he should stop shaking his pickle and spend time typing.

Well excuse me for not making it so clear. No I was not shaking my pickle and no I was not drinking a beer at the game. (Had a 6 hour drive ahead of me to get back to DC) Now Daesal if you would just stop being so rude and crude I might actually believe half the crap you spew.
Coach Danny Smith, the Redskins Special Teams coach flipped off the oposing teams bench or players on the field. Hard for me to tell exactly who he was directing it at seeing that I was on the 50 near the top of that terrible stadium. But it does not really matter to me who it was directed at the whole thought of a well respected coaching staff having a member offering obsence gestures is beyond reasonning. Do I need to elaborate anymore for you to understand this? |
as an outsider I must say you were unclear on your first post. thanks for clearing that up, but I haven't heard anything in the press about it. Much like there is no press about fans running on the field...
Football pumps people up, and I'm sure especially if that's your job. By the way I see no logical reason to dismiss our special teams coach because of such a gesture. Such a gesture can be construed in innumerable ways in the court of law and don't you want your coach to be fired up like that anyway? It was big but Coles fumbled on our attempt at a drive. Noone is bashing Coles! GO SKINS! I BELIEVE! |
Let's fire everyone, cut the whole team and start over. ;)
|
Matty, we may be doing that in a few years anyways depending on the TV contracts and performance =p
|
Might as well do it now, everyone sucks anyway.
|
I'm glad to see you're impressed with the skins performance. I didn't expect a huge Gibbs fan, such as yourself, to be impressed by poor clock management and a 1-3 record.
|
No need to fire everyone, I personally believe football is back to where it should be as we have mised this brand of football for 12 years. While we lossed the Dallas game, overall it was a great game, quite enjoyable. The Browns game they did not play that bad as compared to some games we have seen over the past couple of years. But a unproffesional gesture by a coach is not neccessary. If you expect a certain amount of decor with the players then the coaches should adhere to this as well. Can't say why it has not been picked up by the press but I clearly saw it.
I do not work for the Skins nor am I a press dude, I am a fan who went to see my favorite team play. Away games are a ton of fun and believe me the fans in Cleveland have nothing on us and were quite friendly except for the occaisonal "Redskns Suck". But I stick to my original post FIRE COACH SMITH, I wouldn't want him working for me if he did that to one of my competitors in the publics eye, would you? |

I heard someone calling and making a big deal out of Danny Smith flicking the Browns off. I thought it might of been you. |
So last week it was a handshake causing some controversy, now it's a middle finger.
Don't we have bigger problems to worry about? |
Yes. We do. BUT, CRT does make a point. It IS the little things that make a difference in the bigger problems. If Smith did in fact flip off the other team, he should be reprimanded at least (he may have been, we don't know). Gibbs wants to, famously, "win with style", and, I believe, that is one of Gibbs motivational tools. Smith's actions may just be one small chink in that theory - but isn't EVERYONE supposed to be getting on board with doing the small things right?
Inappropriate conduct is unprofessional. Unprofessionalism loses games. Focus on the next punt return, the kick-off. You want to really flip'em off? Make a big play on special teams. That's what professionals do. |
well, the players on the field cuss and trash talk all day, so obviously we should fire the team, since they should be held to the same standards as the coaches...
why don't we fire him for... umm... crappy special team play instead of something so miniscule that has no impact on how good of a coach he is... |
Yes I did call in. I saw it and people should know about it. As far as fireing him based on his special teams coverage and return plays, FIRE HIM. Our personel is weak when it comes to returns. Hopefully they will break out of it, but I see it as a potential problem.
I also stated how I fell about a coach flipping a opponet off. Players cuss but you can not hear what is going on in the field of play. But 92,000 can see things such as a coach flipping someone off. I just think it shows that he has no self controll and is totally classless. |
I bet it was a play call. I've always wanted to see 'The Bird' as a visual play call in from the sideline.

If the league, or coach Gibbs hasen't done anything about yet, then I think it's a dead issue. You're kind of overreacting if you ask me. I think we have bigger things to worry about. Also, no offense but the guys on the radio were kinda confused about why you were making a big deal out of it. It jut seems like your taking this way too far. |
I think we have bigger things to worry about.
MUCH bigger things. |
yep, i'd file this under the "so what?" category and move on... i haven't heard of anyone else who saw it either...
|

In fact it was also on the post game radio station in Cleveland, and they were quite disgusted to. It is a dead issue and there are more important things I agree but I was pointing out a situation that occured that I thought was not cool. Guys on this site asked me what happened, so I explained. Also if the so called experts on the radio thought this was not a big deal then that is their choice. I think it speaks volumes about the so called character the Gibbs teams surrond themselves with. Example - If you are at work and a coworker flips off another person in front of many others, would that person still have a job today or would he/she be reprimanded? You can doubt if I saw it, but why would I even then bother stating it. I saw him do it and I personally think it is classless, don't you at least agree to that? |
the bird isn't a big deal to me, i don't know anyone who's been fired for it... i could really care less, and one lax moment (which didn't hurt anyone) seems like a silly thing to fire someone over...
|
Seems Dale Jr. took a big hit this weekend for using a few cus words.
|
Didn't he only say the S word?
Either way, anyone who drives the beltway sees worse every day. Maybe that's why people in DC don't care one bit. |
what happened to dale was a joke, a possible 5 million dollar fine for saying sh*t... jeebus fscking chrst man...
|
The fine is one thing, but to get docked 25 points and lose first place in the NASCAR standings. That's just absurd
|
I understand what you are getting at CRT3 and it isn't very professional of Smith, but if I and the world can live with Pete Webber(only bowling fan will probably know of whom I speak of) doing crotch chops on tv, I think flipping someone off isn't a big enough of a lapse in judgement to require Smith being fired (his coaching of the special teams on the other hand...) Plus we all probably flip off someone while driving atleast every couple days or is that just me?
