Who Do We Need to Look Out for in Cleveland
With a big chunk of the starting lineup injured who do ya'll think will be some of the biggest threats to our trouncing of C-Town
Obviously Jeff Garcia is going to be someone to watch out for with his arm, vision, and speed, but who else stands out? |
Suggs is supposed to be at full strength. He and William Green together in that backfield could cause problems
|
The waterboy! Never can tell if he will decide to posion our water...that is why we drink Gatorade! :joke:
(Water sucks...it really really sucks!) (Gaaaaadoooorraaade!) :httr: |

Oh yeah, I almost completely forgot about Suggs. He is a really talented back. Luckily we have one of the top run defences in the league, but I think that this guy will be the biggest challenge we've had yet, especially with the injuries to Phillip Daniels and Lavar Arrington. I think Greg Williams will have something cooked up though. He always seems to be good at doing that. Overall, it will be a good warmup for when we have to face the beast from the Ravens in a couple weeks. :httr: |
dennis northcut, even though he hasnt been able to break the big play, and andre davis, as well as quincy morga. if garcia doesnt suck it up and can get them the ball, any of them can take it all the way.
|
Dennis NOrthcut is a talented guy, but I guess (like you said) there hasn't been too much chemistry yet between QB and WR.
I'm sure ST, Smooooot, and Springs will make sure it stays that way to HTTR |
Maybe we should look out for one of our most dreaded enemies- TBP A.K.A The Poston Brothers.
|
Let's look out for the refs too...who knows what bad calls they will come up with this time.
|
the guy ade jimoh will be chasing will be their biggest weapon.
|
I thought the Browns offense would be good this year. I didn't expect quite all their injuries. They have 3 VERY good reveivers. On par or better than ours. Two very good running backs (I wanna see Suggs tear it up, after our game of course), and they had a possibly great TE. I hate Jeff Garcia, but hey.
I think our offense can gain some continuity and confidence from this game, but our defense will have more of a test than people want to admit. |
When is Barrow going to earn his money? I've heard of injuries but this is getting a little ridiculous. We have a timeline on when Lavar will return and I haven't heard anything about this guy even practicing with the first team. I hope Antonio Pierce keeps his job. I almost get the feeling that Barrow's not happy being here under the circumstances. The Giants did fire all of the Defensive line except Strahan and picking up our rivals rejects has been a failure more so than a success.
|
Willam Green was one run away from breaking into the endzone. I didn't realized he was back with the Browns. Since Virginia Tech we really don't know what to expect from Lee Suggs. But Since we have had a very good performance at stopping the run, I'm confident the rotation of LB's will be successful. I'm not too familiar with the Browns's receivers but look for Smoot, Springs and Harris to lock that down. Whoever is checking Kenard Lang better bring his lunch because he's hungry. Ray Brown should not be given that task. Kenyatta Jones needs to play this week.
|
Suggs is still listed as questionable as of today, it's probably doubtful that he'll play.
|
I'd be more worried about Suggs than Green. Green has been inconsistent this season. I have no doubt that our run defense will step regardless of who's taking the handoffs.
The thing that worries me is Garcia being able to scramble and turn a busted play into a big play. Our secondary needs stay tight with their receivers. |
We are our own worst enemy.
Honestly, I worry more about us and the mistakes that we are making than the other team. When the kinks get out and we start to run the system as it should be run, I think we will easily be a top ten team in this league.
|
Honestly, I worry more about us and the mistakes that we are making than the other team...
Amen to that. On paper, we shouldn't have any problems with them. But you know, someone emailed the SportsTalk 980 show a couple of days ago that hit the nail on the head. It read something like, "short week, traveling to an away game, the Browns are getting into panic mode, and right now, they're saying the same thing we are about Cleveland -- 'we have the Redskins this week, we've GOT to beat them'..." Watch out. |
It just seems like bad teams have been getting healthy against the Redskins the past couple of years.
Every time I think to myself that a player is going to suck it up (like Warner in week 2), they come out and do well. Garcia is a damn good QB, so we should watch out. |
Yeah...this should be an exciting game either way. With our offense finally starting to develop a little chemistry I think that we have a real good chance of having a breakout game. Plus, on the injury list I saw a lot of big names that are important to Browns like both of their starting corners, Lee Suggs, and some of their best defensive lineman, so I think that these factors will definitely help an offense, that is already starting to get a flame under it, ignite.
|
RB, 2 DL, 2 CB, TE - all starters, all injured... garcia is a good QB even if you don't like him... but he's a west coast QB thrown in a power running offense without the power running (no lee suggs), and i think that's why he's struggled (that and the crappy O line)... but he can scramble and make stuff happen if you let him...

More stuff on the Brownies, from ESPN.com:
Cleveland Browns: Browns offensive tackle Ryan Tucker and defensive lineman Gerard Warren will both miss this Sunday's game against Washington with injuries. Tucker is out for the second straight week with a strained quadriceps muscle he suffered in the fourth quarter of a Sept. 19 game against Dallas. Warren sat out last week, too. He strained a chest muscle in the second quarter of the season opener against Baltimore and irritated it a week later. The banged-up Browns are hoping to have running back Lee Suggs and tight end Steve Heiden back against the Redskins. -- Associated Press We should be able to move the ball, control the clock, and keep Garcia off the field. IF we can begin to convert some of these long drives to points, things will begin to feel a lot better around here. |
From Maske at the Post:
Cleveland tailback Lee Suggs practiced fully Wednesday. He has been sidelined since the preseason because of a pinched nerve in his neck but likely will play Sunday against the Redskins. . . . |
dennis northcut, even though he hasnt been able to break the big play, and andre davis, as well as quincy morga. if garcia doesnt suck it up and can get them the ball, any of them can take it all the way.
Don't forget our very own Kenard Lang...he's been a monster for them so far. |
The Browns are very beat up, if the Skins carry over their play from Monday night we shouldn't have much to worry about.
|
I agree with Matty. We should run for fun on that defense. Their Dline is so battered up, I could proboly rush for 100 yards if I got some good blocking...
|
Haha...maybe we should put you on goal line then Gmanc, but I think I would still rather have Portis in there :thumb:
I think that our offensive line should have a real chance to make some big plays against the torn up d-line of the browns. Obviously their contributions will be a huge part of Portis's game come sunday. I know a lot of people like to focus on the back, but I think that sometimes you have to look at the line and the kind of blocking he's likely to receive in order to figure out the kind of game the RB is going to get. |
