Re: Holmgren on Campbell
Good advice.
|
Re: Holmgren on Campbell
Very sound. Of course it really is some obvious stuff.
|
Re: Holmgren on Campbell
It's the best approach to take. Fortunately we didn't pull the trigger on getting Cutler or Sanchez and this still has a chance to work out. Funny that a lot of posters don't think Campbell can play well in the WCO but Holmgren does.

Re: Holmgren on Campbell
I love that Holmgren is in Redskins park.

Re: Holmgren on Campbell
I believe JC can be good QB. He has not done one single thing to lead me to not believe that. Take a stroll through a Sunday's worth of games in the fall and you'll see limited QBs all over the place. They often have very obvious physical limits and sometimes less obvious, but discernible, mental/emotions limits. JC really hasn't shown anything like that in any determinable way. Let's give him adequate protection and time to KNOW the system then we can pass judgment. I don't feel has has had the chance with either really. He has learned a new system every other year at best and ran for his life most of last season. Heck with decent protection alone last year he played well in the first half of the season. He isn't a QB that can make plays with no protection but then again neither is Tom Brady or Peyton Manning for that matter.

Re: Holmgren on Campbell
Cutler? He sucks. Perhaps he meant to say " Tom Brady....what if"

What's also funny is the fact JC played his senior yr in college in a WCO style. The same style he flurished in and took his team to a national championship. I have no doubt he will do well in it if given time to throw. What I am concerned about is the fact that in the NFL defesive coach's have better ways to hide their blitz's. I honestly believe JC has trouble reading the defense at times and due to the lack of learning Zorns playbook he was unable to audible. Also his throwing motion was too long and slow. It looks like Zorn maybe trying to fix the throwing motion with quicker releases which is awsome. Hopefully with a better understanding of Zorn's WCO JC will do better. |

You know what irritates me? People who get sick of things and expect the world to revolve around them. If your tired of hearing or seeing this issue guess what ...you don't have to click on this thread. Simply skip it. Why do people think that if it's offensive to them or stupid or ignorant then no one else should listen, read, or watch it. If it bothers you ....change the channel. No one is forcing you to read, listen, or watch what makes you sick. :) have a nice day. |

Wait, are you saying that if he doesn't produce he gets one more year. So if JC doesn't produce he's got one more year to produce. Now I am confused, I thought he had to produce this year or else he is gone, but now if he doesn't produce he gets another one. I am sure that is a relief to JC. Now he can go kick back and relax like all the other off seasons. [/sarcasm] |

Re: Holmgren on Campbell
It's all about the chair.
The article made it sound like Mike Holmgren was very comfortable in that chair at Redskins Park. Do you think Dan Snyder went out and got a special chair for Holmgren to sit in on his visit? I wonder if Holmgren thought it fit him well. Do you think DS might have told Holmgren that he looked good in that chair? Just wondering. |

Back to reality our clowns know it all, they have been in charge for the past 10 years, impressive track record
I'd rather have these "Clowns" running the team that are actual fans and willing to go all out to make the team better. Of course it hasnt worked as planned but lately we are making the playoffs almost every other year. On topic i know i come off as a Campbell hater but really excited for this season, if we can just get back to the offense we had the first 8 games. Then with the D getting some more turnovers, shorter drives, better field position. |
Re: Holmgren on Campbell
every west coast offense is different peeps so why do people hang on eo that not to mention that he wasnt even in that system for long in collage he switched systems there.

Re: Holmgren on Campbell
every west coast offense is different peeps so why do people hang on eo that not to mention that he wasnt even in that system for long in collage he switched systems there.
Because people don't even understand what the WCO is, much less understand it's uses.
I try to stay clear of debating the merits of one player in an offensive system vs. another because it necessarily requires an intricate knowledge of the offense than I do not have. The WCO isn't some gimmicky offense that QBs with big arms can't run, it's simply an offensive philosophy that varies between coaches that run it/say they run it. I'm more concerned with results anyway. |

If things don't work out this year with Zorn why the hell not? I'm hoping it doesn't come to that obviously. |

Yeah, if things don't work out this year, I think it'd be nice to have Holmgren as HC and Zorn as OC. Seems like a pretty obvious thing to do, if Holmgren were to come here. |
Re: Holmgren on Campbell
Demoting Zorn might be little awkward, and I would imagine Holmgren would want to run the offense.
|
Re: Holmgren on Campbell
Great article. Mighty nice of MH to compliment the Skins and encourage patience in the development of a great QB.
|
Re: Holmgren on Campbell
The Redskins are so G-rated these days.
Let's hope it works. |
Re: Holmgren on Campbell
Excellent article. Holmgren's insight should be appreciated by all who heard or read his remarks.

Word...kind of wish he'd have been at the park and made those remarks like 3 months ago lol. I think Holmgren is quietly noting how special Zorn is when it comes to developing QBs. Does anyone think Hesselbeck could be a pro-bowl qb w/o Zorn's mentoring? I don't for a second...and likewise Zorn will take JC to a higher level. |
Re: Holmgren on Campbell
If Holmgren comes back to the NFL, it will probably as a GM. At 60 years old he would want to remain on the West Coast and more than likely relocate to SF. Rumors around here have him coming back to the 49ers in some kind of personnel position.

From your fingers to God's eyes. For the record, I agree with you. I expect JC to have a strong year this year with breakout seasons from Thomas and Davis. |

I expect the same thing. I think we have a pretty good thing going right now and don't know it yet. To answer Goats question, no. W/o Zorn Hasselbach would not be the QB he is today IMO. |

I hope for a strong year as well, but this is the same stuff i was hearing last year about a 'JC breakout year". understanding he's changed coaches and offenses several times, however, a QB runs the offense. and we must be better then 16.6 ppg. that is awful. another year like last year and he'll be another teams backup in 2010. |
