Postgame: NY
here's a challenge: what part of our Offense stinks least?
seriously tho, what part of our offense works? WR dropped passes, Oline cant make holes, RBs no where to go, QBs well you know. this is serious, and people are gonna blame Gibbs being out of touch pretty soon. is it the players? is the scheme too complicated and overthought for these young guys? what is it?? Shawn Springs was supposed to be this game's Matt Bowen. saw him lined up at the line more than LaVar. LaVar had a quiet game. all in all, the D held up, but its getting more obvious they are going 120% for the lack of Dline talent. hope they can keep it up all year or have the Dline emerge before they get figured out. |
Cooley has been a monster. THAT"S something that is working.
|
Look, they were blitzing a lot, and stacking the run. You have to throw to releive the pressure. We failed to do so effectively, and then we turned the ball over SO MANY TIMES. We actually dominated on offense statistically in the second half, but the TOs ripped our hearts out. Without the TOs (and the drops) the O really didn't look that bad. The plays work, I think, but players have to execute. We beat ourselves.
|
Why was Ray Brown playing and not Kenyatta Jones? And what's up with Lennie Friedman? How hard is it to snap the ball?
|
Good question about Kenyatta. What's up? Man, we miss Jansen!
|
Last week the Offense were Gods this week they are washed up. I can only imagine what practice will be like this week for the Redskins. I beleive that things will be working better next week. It could not of happened at a better time before the Cowpukes game. I would say that the coaches will be working harder to get things straightened out.
|
Sometimes you need a good ass-kicking to get focused, but this was a bit much
|
We've just got to get back to work, and fix this thing. Turnovers and drops can be fixed. If anyone can do it, it's Gibbs and Co.
|
I guess 15-1 is pretty respectable. ;)
|
yeah, we all saw what they did. and we saw our response.
is the Eagles Oline better than ours? where'd McNabb get the time? TO that much better than Coles? Westbrook better than Portis? Will Allen was a chump last week, this week a monster. dropped balls, fumbles and ints means they were more physical than us. our O hasnt looked comfortable and in sync ONCE yet, doing both run and pass, not even in preseason. no denying. its OK for Gardner to be slow cuz he's a 'possession' type receiver, only he's never been able to reliably possess a damn thing. Coles is supposed to be a burner, but he's hurt and i haven't seen any space between him and any defender in a long time. Portis aint seeing daylight, he's slaming into opposing defenders and coughing it up. somethings up. time for Gibbs to use that famous ability to adjust only during the week, not just at halftime. |
JW, unless you have a truly bad QB, Turnovers happen from losing the battle on the line sad to say.
|
Where the hell has Sean Taylor been so far???
|
jones got injured this week appartnetly.

I totally agree with you JWsleep.........in the second half we were moving the ball under Ramsey. It was the turnovers and wide open receivers not catching the ball that killed us. We abanded the running game for a while because we were so far behind. Wth 7 turnovers the Giants should've scored more so the defense hung in there and kept us in the game. Yes, disappointing games for Arrington and Bowen, but Phillip Daniels going down hurt us. We lost this game ourselves..... |

Yes, most curious....well Bugel must have known something............ |
Well Gibbs said Kenyatta had a "fat ankle" so Ray Brown had been working with the first team all week and the staff decided to just ahead and start Brown

Well, You can't blame Ramsey's throws on the o-line. They just were thrown in the wrong place, full stop. ANd the one to the corner of the endzone, he had some pressure maybe, but come on. He can't loft it up there. As for Brunnell, the fumble came on a pressure, but the INT was on a screen. He had to get it over the lineman, and we had a good gain. How is that the O-line's fault? And Portis? He doesn't fumble often. What's up with that???? One was diving over a pile and getting hit with a hemet, the other he just got stripped. Again, not sure why it's the o-line's fault either time. I'm not saying that they played great, but I put the TOs squarely on our skill players. Brunell and Portis gave NY their points, and Ramsey sealed the game. |
Defense still looks good. Although M. Bowen was beaten deep, on a play he was the safety over the top. That is unexcusable. The receiver ran past him like he was standing still. This has always been his weakness.
Offense was making one mistake after another. Ramsey shows she still not ready to take over at QB. Two of the three interceptions were pathetic. He still holds the ball too long and takes to many sacks. He still makes the rookie mistakes, but he is no longer a rookie. For every good play he makes, he makes three bad one's. Brunnell might be have problems with the long ball, but he keeps the team in the games. Ramsey needs to improve before we hand him the starting position. Our kick returner (i forget his name) had a good game. Salavea and Griffen are playing great. |
I don't know what I hated more.
The fumbles. The interceptions. The not caught clutch passes. The penalties near the goal line. The no pressure on the QB except when we blitz. what a game. |

Ramsey could have thrown it out of bounds instead of throwing it under pressure and forcing something which leads to trouble..................... |
Just got back from the game. My first observations are like some of yours. The Redskins first drive was right on the money. The ground attack opened it up for the TD pass. What happened to that play in the second half or even when we were on the five yard line before Ramsey threw his first INT? The offensive plays (the reverse) looked sloppy and poorly executed. Coach Gibbs has to allow the QB to set up in the shotgun. The NFC defenses are going to blitz as much as we do. Sean Taylor looked lethargic. He was running around from side to side and not really making the key tackles. Ledell Betts must get the ball more often! Darnerian McCants needs to be activated and given a chance to contribute. I don't know about you, but Gardner has a serious problem holding on to catches. Lastly, the Giants aren't a threat to anyone in the NFL. Any team that can not score more points than 20 after 7 turnovers is weak.

hmmmmmmmm....."fat ankle" huh. Thanks for the info. He had to play someone with experience with Brown rather than throwing the rookie Wilson into the fire. Couldn't afford to do that with the Redskins behind in the game............. |
[QUOTE=Our kick returner (i forget his name) had a good game.
Salavea and Griffen are playing great.
Chad Morton......when the game was on a group of us were posting and I was claiming that Morton hadn't done anything last year or this year and was overpaid cap exposure.......then he started to do better....guess he reads this board..... :D |
Oh, one thing. I wouldn't worry too much about Clinton Portis fumbling in the future, just put him at the wideout and take Gardner's job. Brunell and Ramsey have to really get a check up the neck up. Talk about stinking up the place. I can't recall in the history of being a Skins fan turning the ball over that many times.
|
Chad Morton did so well today, that James Thrash was brought in just to congradulate him. I mean damn, can we get a good return without a penalty.
|
Coles had 100 yards, it wasn't all bad, however......
I don't want to sit through another Dallas win next Monday Night. Get it sorted out. |
Ramsey could have thrown it out of bounds instead of throwing it under pressure and forcing something which leads to trouble.....................
Monk, I was at the game. I was the closest Redskin to Ramsey and I was in row 237. He simply doesn't understand how to throw the ball away when there is no play. What did Ramsey learn in college that hasn't translated well in the NFL? Lesson number 1, throw the ball to a player whose wearing the same colors as you. His second interception was a silly gamble and we loss. He tried to underthrow the ball so that Gardner could come back and get it. The problem is he was double covered. I mean this a dilemma that goes back before Spurrier. If these two QB's don't get the job done we might forced to put Mr. Hasselbeck back in. :tongue |
Coles had 100 yards, it wasn't all bad, however......
I don't want to sit through another Dallas win next Monday Night. Get it sorted out.
Don't worry you won't. This morning when I got up I actually saw myself leaving dissappointed at this game. However, the Dallas game has to be the biggest game of the season because we have the opportunity to redeem ourselves after this gift to the Giants. We will beat them Cowb****es. |
My disgusted impressions of the game..
Brunell, get rid of the ball faster, if the Giants' DBs could catch you could tack 2-3 more turnovers onto the total.. Speaking of turnovers, 7?!?!??! Good God they were bad today.. OL didn't show up at all, I think they came in overconfident after TB.. Ramsey needs to learn it's ok to throw the ball away, that last INT was simply amatuerish.. If it's not there, drill the guy in the neon vest.. I'm not going to get down on Portis, just a bad day.. Gardner needs to be demoted, I'd rather see what Taylor Jacobs can do.. There's a reason that Gardner's nickname on the team is 50/50.. Williams punked out a little bit by not blitzing more in the 4th quarter, but I was still happy with the performance of the defense. All in all, 7 turnovers, numerous drops and sacks and we were still in position to take the lead 3 times in the 4th quarter I can just hope we get to the point that we don't beat ourselves.. |
Amen, Paintrain. I mean how many mistakes can veterans of this game make? Either they don't understand the plays their running or are simply incapable of executing these plays. You better believe Coach Gibbs will be up all night reviewing tapes of this game. This game will be the model for what not to do on offense. We will rebound against the Cowboys.

By the way, did anyone notice that even though Portis fumbled twice, he was still heavily involved with the game even if he wasn't getting touches. He had two de-cleating blocks that I can recall.

Yes, he caught a TD and had another pass he dropped that would have continued our drive. The Giants was talking a lot of smack. And I think it got to Portis a little. I think Portis owes us next week. The O line is not responsible for his fumbles. |

I did notice that. The commentaros also noticed that, and said that he was proboly trying to hustle to make up for some of his other mistakes. They aslo said it was nice to see a 50 million dollar man still hustling all over the feild. I mean I'm not happy with his performance, but that defintley made up for some of the mistakes he made. He's not going to fumble like that a ton of the time. We cant give up on him either. He's the type of back that will go 4, 3 , 4 , 6 , then break one big. In any event it was nice to see him still hustling, it can change the course of a game ( ala Coles last year vs Seattle ) and almost did today. |
Portis never saw daylight, without a lead blocker or some linemen down field he literally ran into walls. |

If you fumble like Portis did you better hell as do something to help the team like blocking........ big deal I don't go for the smack got to him causing him to make mistakes...come on-- the man heard smack in college and while he played for Denver..... :cussing: |
Harsh monk! ;) All I'm saying is that he didn't give up and that is why we had a chance at the end of the game.

Sorry Red...they are showing the Skins/Gints game on Prime Time and it got me all riled up again. I'm glad he did something to help his team, but he's still gonna hear it from the coaches when they check out the game film.............. Peace. P.S. The Redskins lose, Cowboys win...and I just ai'nt happy right now, nothing personal :( |
Just got finished watching the highlights again and all I have to say is "What the S**t!!!!" I was hoping a little time would make it easier but nope.

Hey we both agree.......... :food-smil |
coles showed up... he only had one mistake... portis had a dropped pass and 2 fumbles, but still put up about 100 yards and a TD, and almost converted 3rd and 23... gardner dropped something like 7 passes he should have caught... i want to see mccants or jacobs (burner) tested out...
i know ramsey had 3 picks, but brunell gave up the points before hand, and couldn't throw a pass longer than 7 yards... THAT'S A PROBLEM, his arm strength sucks, just like it has in preseason (minus that great 63yarder to mccants). right now neither QB really looks like an error free starter, and tims not the answer, so please, don't... sean wasn't sharp, but he's a rookie... on D, we need a good DE or two, as well as a good coverage SS... bowen just isn't fast enough, or he makes bad reads... |
