Osi Done For The Year

I just saw on the nfl network ADAM SCHEFTER REPoRTED THAT OSI UMENORIA will undergo season ending surgery for the knee injury suffered against the jets even though its no good to be happy about an injury im not gonna cry about that particular one

Re: Osi Done For The Year

That sucks for him, he could have had a really good year for em.

Oh well, that's good for the NFC East.

Tough break for them. Also, it looks like Merriman has a serious injury in SD.

It's a violent game.

Wow, losing Strahan and Osi after one offseason, thats downright devastating

I heard that Merriman's could be carreer ending.

Like it or not, luck is a huge part of being successful in the NFL. The Patriots were virtually injury-free in thier regular season run last year. Let's not for a second feel sorry for the NYG's and thier HUGE loss.

Where did you hear Merriman's could be career ending?
Where did you hear Merriman's could be career ending?
That came from Merriman himself. He said that the doctor told him if he plays without getting surgery to repair the knee, then it could become aggravated to the point of being career threatening. But if he has the surgery, he'll be fine. Honestly, I watched the interview and he seemed like a little bit of a drama queen to me...but I'm biased, I'm no fan of his anyway.

Darn...that sucks for him. Ole well, big wheels keep on turnin, plug in the next guy. Renaldo Wynn might just have a job this year....

But I sure am glad our DE is A OK!

I'll bet it's more than 50/50 that the Giant's will lure him back this season.

Re: Osi Done For The Year

the Giants are slowly but surely loosing their swagger for this upcoming season...first Strahan and Shockey now Osi...who's next Pierce? They realy are becoming a boring team.

DirtyLandry 08-24-2008 03:58 PM

Re: Osi Done For The Year

When asked about it Strahan did not dismiss the notion of returning.. He just said Nobody from the organazation has asked him to return so he could not say if he would or would not.

I agree he'll be back, and I think it's better than 50/50 now...
Question is- what kind of shape is he in?

Too bad for Osi. He's a beast. But Kiwanuka can rotate between OLB and DE and Wynn can be a decent run stopper, although he's no pass rusher at this point.

Yeah, for a team as injury prone as we've been, it's god awful karma to cheer for this kind of thing, but I sure won't mind not having to face Osi twice this year.

Well, Kiwanuka is a natural DE, but then who plays OLB?

That's all I'm saying. I dont ever want to see people injured on a personal level but like you said, I wont mind not having to worry about him this year.

Either they get Strahan back or pickup one of our cut players, that could include Chris Wilson (I hope not).

Yeah I thought about that. I have no clue how yalls depth at LB is but I'm pretty sure I heard in the last few weeks about Goff and Chase Blackburn being dinged up.

Kiwanuka at DE could work I guess.

I dont see Strahan coming back though and if he decides to, more power to him. He's out of shape at this point I would say, at least out of playing shape. They're hoping that Wynn will step up.

I'm with you...it's nice not having to deal with him, the only thing that stinks about this is:

1. I don't like seeing anybody get hurt.
2. He was on my fantasy team.
3. The Giant fans (at least the ones I know) were really cool last year during the whole Sean Taylor situation so I hate seeing something bad happen to them.

I don't really understand why you guys let Kiwanuka get away. He had a very solid year for you, and the Bills didn't give him a ridiculous contract. You should have resigned him.

Re: Osi Done For The Year

I would rather beat a team w/their best players, and I wish all the players could stay as healthy as players in other sports, but that's not the way it is.

I thought the g-men would struggle this year before this happened, now it looks even more like they're on course for a tough year. They do have good depth w/Kiawanuka & Tuck at DE, those guys are much better than most teams' starting DEs, but Osi is probably their MVP. Huge loss for them, but based on last night's game, they're still good enough to beat us in 11 days.

They lost Osi, Gibril Wilson, Kiwanuka, Torbor, Strahan, Schockey, they won't pay Plaxico...

Plus they're in the New York media circus... I could see them having a very average year. And that's fine.
