Kearse An Eagle!!!!!
Well were not getting Kearse in fact the Eagles are. Exactly what are the Eagles thinking???....there DL is not bad and they still have no receiver and now no money to sign 1. And there is no way they can resign taylor or Vincent so they need a corner 2. This season is going to be interesting......
That is SHOCKING. I'm seriously the Eagles would have been one of the last teams I expected him to go too. Oh well, Jevon Kearse.... Meet Jon Janen
wow that is surprising, oh well, to be honest I think we can do better for less..
OF course
This is the Eagles front office:
"We need to do something about those Redskins. With Gibbs back, we won't be able to get to the quarterback like we did last season. Oh no!! Let's get Kearse. We're going to need him!" Ha ha ha! |

8 years, $66 million.
In a deal that makes Kearse the highest-paid defensive lineman in NFL history, he will sign an eight-year contract worth $66 million. The pass-rush terror nicknamed "The Freak" will receive a signing bonus of $16 million. There are additional roster bonuses of $2 million each in the first two seasons, essentially guaranteeing $20 million of the deal. Kearse, 27, will earn $24 million in the first three years of the contract.
Wow. What's the link? I guess they miss Douglas. Let's hope they overspent, and Kearse's ankle doesn't hold up (I know, I know, how could anyone root for an injury? But this is the Eagles....)
I guess we need Chris Samuels around, now......
so much for getting TO. I doubt they can afford both of them.
This is a great move on the eagles part. You guys must not have noticed that they had no good d-ends last year. The eagles organizations put together a very talented team with 25 million in cap space and now they got the premier pass rusher on the market. The eagles are gonna be that much better now. This move won't help there run stopping problems though. So there is still some hope.
Id rather have them with Kearse than TO, that team's Dline was just fine and now its a upgrade for htem, so they should have a good Dline again. But their recivers couldnt catch a cold in a room full of sick people, plus they loose staley. I'll be honest I do like MCnabb(i'm by Syracuse so gimme a break) but he's gonna be awful without more offensive help.
With the Gibbs/Bugel max-protect scheme in full effect, and Portis zooming by the freak inside and outside, I am not worried about this. Yeah, he's good, but we've got the tackles, RB, and the coaches to negate it.
If this was still Spurrier's team, it'd be a problem. But the Lord of the Rings is BACK! |
I'm kinda relieved that we didn't go after Kearse and his salary demands... by the way, the Eagles could still trade for T.O., but it would cost them the farm.
According to ESPN, we *did* try to go after him, but the Eagles accepted a price that we werent willing to pay, so about 5 hours ago or so, we abondoned Kearse...
i agree that this was a blessing in disguise. we can use the money we save from not meeting kearse's demands to get a serviceable lineman like wistrom and a cb like winfield.
oh yeah, let's not count out udeze just yet (although everyone is focusing on taylor in the draft)... BKU is more of a freak than the freak himself! |
Amazing. Snyder finally ran up against a dollar sign he didn't like. :D
:o i'm glad we did'nt get the freak anyhow.he'll be whining next year when the skins are in the playoffs and the iggles are 8-8.i do'nt think we'll get winstrom,he's gonna sign with the chiefs i believe.who else is available? i say
that since kleinhauser, and the freak got by picking taylor or winslow is about a sure thing now is'nt it? |
I still think we should go after rod coleman or robaire smith for the other tackle spot and b. barry or the recently cut M. Wiley to supply the pass rush(wiley would also supply a sturdy run stopper as well as pass rush, not too familiar with Barry.)
I would like to see how Wiley would do in our system. I think he would be a good pickup for the 'Skins, but we'll see.
The Eagles have tons of money. They can sign Kearse and get TO easy (you know the 49ers will figure out some trade that they like somewhat just to get rid of him) and then have loads left over. They could probably still sign taylor and vincent too but i'm sure they have decided that they're too old and too expensive to keep on, as good as they are. The Eagles aren't forced to cut overpriced players because they don't have any (until now -- I think they're giving Kearse way too much).
Philly's not going to be any easy team to beat next year at all. I am not saying we should have tried harder to land Kearse but he will help that D alot. And from what I hear they are still one of the front runners to get T.O!! :( That would really suck!
Yes the Eagles are trying to win the Summer Bowl here because I think they will trade for Terrell Owens. They probably feel that their window for the Super Bowl is going to close and they want to use the huge amount of free cap money to make a big run at the Super Bowl this season and next.
Owens needs a place where you have a no nonsense coach like Andy Reid. If he acted out like in SF, he will find himself on the bench and suspended if necessary. But someone like Owens needs to have a strong armed coach. The Eagles are poised to make some strides this season, but we may just catch them anyway. |
atleast the headlines won't be about how the skins have won the offseason superbowl
So much for Jevon Kearse's supposed desire to play for Gregg Williams.
Didn't see that coming....
Hell the Eagles have enough problems with Vincent, Emmons, & Taylor all available in F/A. Kearse is an upgrade, but I don't think he's gonna make the difference between division champs & NFC champs, nevermind Superbowl Champs. |
