Pierson Prioleau?
I'm wondering if anybody knows if Redskins re trying to resign Pierson or not? I mean, I think he should be one of vets we should try to resign.. He may not have a big role but his role is important - he's versatile, he takes over any position when necessary..
|
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
He's the top remaining safety on the market, and I'm sure the team will offer him some sort of deal to bring him back. I'd be surprised if he took it though.
I still expect Jacksonville to chase and win his services. |
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
We dont need him, He's suspect. We need to get other younger players to fill that position.Or at laeast a vet thats capable

He's suspect if forced into the starting lineup, but he's a good backup. Also, I'm not sure if we need more youth at safety considering our starters are Landry and Reed. A decent vet like Prioleau might be good for the younger guys. |
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
and its year 2 after major knee surgery. i agree with sheriff. decent player, and good guy to have around. i hope he is back
|
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
say no to prioleau. Seriously guys, have you forgot how much he got burned last year? His reactions are SO slow and he cant cover anyone man to man. He was a lot better before he destroyed his leg, but he just hasnt been playing the same as he did in 05'.
When I said youth at safety, I didnt mean rookies. I meant we need to try and find a 3-4 year vet. I' wish we would of just moved springs to SS then we could have got Hall. Then we wouldnt need PP, and Springs can play cb or safety, we should use him as such. We could pick up a good CB in the draft and then move Springs to safety, as well as CB. We would have Smoot,Rogers,Springs,Rookie 1st-2nd round draft pick,Torrence, an Eubanks. Plus we have Vernon Fox for depth at safety too.(he could spell springs and doughty, I would rotate springs and doughty at SS, then when springs is rotated to CB, Fox could back up Doughty.) |
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
Plus, he's going to follow Greg Williams.. Even everyone at Extremeskins says hell no this guy. He's not the same player he was, and yes its year 2 after his surgery but he's also 2 years older than he was before he got hurt.

I don't seem to ever remember him getting toasted last year. His major benefit as a safety is that he DOES have decent coverage skills. In fact in recent years he has played our nickle back when needed and done a decent job. And why the heck would we need Hall if we kept Springs at CB and played the two guys we already have at safety? Landry is very good and Doughty showed he coulod be good. Springs could be a terrible safety for all we know. I don't get the love for Springs at safety when he is already clearly our best coverage CB. |

Kinda like your reasoning for saying chris long is overrated? hahaha you are a clown dude. You said chris long only had 3 good games his senior year. check out my other post on long. |
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
He's ok. Nothing to cry about if we lost him.

we disagree, and you start name calling? |
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
I call it like I see it.. Does "Clown" hurt your feelings? You are acting like you know enough on chris long to say he is overrated, yet you dont bring any kind of real arguement to the table. It reminded me of a little kid who refuses to try or like anything because he has already formed an opinion that it wont be good. You ask the little kid why he doesnt like it? and he says " because, I dont wanna". That's about par.
YET, you highlight my words, and sarcasticly agree with what I said. ( which I was just making a point, I never once said that was the main reason we shouldnt get PP ) I just added that everyone in ExtremeSkins.com thinks the same way I do. Get over yourself pimp. |
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
alright enough with the tough guy talk

Re: Pierson Prioleau?
computer muscles at its best. im done wasting my time on someone that lasts less then 5 years in the nfl

Whatever man, hope you have a great day!

Re: Pierson Prioleau?
DirtySkin21 is right,we need youth at all positions.Springs would make an excellent fit at safety(good cover skills, good tackling skills, smart player that reads offenses, good ball handling and ball hawk skills, did i mention his tackling skills).

Re: Pierson Prioleau?
If Zorn had the chance hed draft Long in a heartbeat. The buzz on this kid is ,high motor, strong, relentless, can play 3-4,4-3,outside linebacker,DT,DE he is a stud.(Parcells type of guy)shades of his old man..

He almost singlehandedly blew that game. |
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
PP isn't worth his own thread. If we keep him, don't pay him too much. If he leaves? Big deal. Just another mid-level player. I do like the idea of putting springs back at the SS position though.
|
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
He's not the best that we have but he provides ok depth. He will be better next season if what they say about knee surgery is true (entering year 2 afterwards). That could have been what, in part, caused him to get burnt pretty badly on occasion. I like signing him cuz of continuity issues and if we are just gonna give his roster spot to someone with equal talent (and a comparable salary) who is new to the locker room, why not keep this guy on team. He had no real character issues and always seems to try his best out there
Long is good but i dont know about #2/3 overall like he's been projected. Definitely a mid first rounder though. I think it speaks to how uniform the talent in this draft is...nobody really knows who is gonna be an absolute stud. |
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
^^Chris long said he doesnt care where he's drafted.(He said he doesnt care if he goes 1sr or 31st) He just wants to focus on his future.
This kid is for real. |

Since you like the idea of putting our #1 CB at the SS position. Who do you propose fills the role of our #1 CB when we are already very limited at corner? With the status of our CB position already shaky and the uncertainty with the health of Carlos, we will certainly have to address this need in the draft. I like the progress Reed made last year and think he will be just fine at SS, if anything you bring in a later round draft or FA to compete and push Reed/depth move. |

I don't know where all this "let's just move our CBs to SS" talk came from.. it's not like were exactly stocked in that position as it is. |
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
Any ideas if Springs would move to Safety? I know they were looking to move him to that position last year.

Re: Pierson Prioleau?
I was only saying that would have made since if we would have went after Hall.
We could have moved Springs to SS, to swap with Doughty and springs could also be a interchangable CB/nickel, and then we would also draft a CB and would have Quite a nice secondary. |
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
We woulda had Springs/Doughty as SS, Landry at FS with Fox backing him up. Hall as our #1cb and smoot/rogers would share that #2 spot while rogers is worked back into the line up.Springs coulda came in at nicke as well. Leigh Torrence/Eubanks as depth. (Plus we don't know what small veteren CB signings if any.
|
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
I see us playing Springs as cb1,Smoot at cb2 .. Rogers will be worked back into the line-up most likely like Springs was after coming off a major injury. I'm sure we will draft a CB and we have Torrence and Eubanks as depth.
By the time Rogers is completely healthy, he will be back in the #2 role, Springs will be #1, Smoot/Rookie will play cb3/nickle,Torrence and Eubanks will provide quality depth and they know the system and scheme. We have Laron Landry at FS with Reed Doughty at SS. Hopefully Vernon Fox will come back and be depth if needed behind LaRon. I believe the coaches will bring in competition into camp to make Doughty work harder, and see if he wants that starting job. So I have no idea who we will bringing in as far as depth wise/competition at the SS spot. |
Re: Pierson Prioleau?
Prioleau is a solid third safety for us. He is a solid, veteran presence and he is good in coverage and also will come up and stop the run. Obviously you don't want to overpay for a guy like Prioleau but if we can get him for slightly above the veteran minimum I'd support the move.
