Bill Cowher!!
Man at first I did not want him to be our next head coach. He is starting to grow on me more and more. I believe that we need a guy like him to lead us. He is touch as nails and will chew you out when you are not getting the job done. I saw him on the sidelines chatting with his former players. He was up in their faces like old times. I think we need to get him in the offseason. Just think with him on the sidelines and Gibbs in the front office we could get this ship sailing back right again.

Re: Bill Cowher!!
Here we go again
|
Re: Bill Cowher!!
Oh no, not Cowher again. The Skins need to find a young hungry coach (like the Steeler did with Tomlin) hire him and give him the time he needs to develop his system.
BTW, I though Gibbs was going to get the ship sailing right again. |
Re: Bill Cowher!!
man it's too early for this

Someone tell me why this thread shouldn't be locked

Because I haven't posted in it yet!
Okay, it can be locked now. |
Re: Bill Cowher!!
Put it on lockdown, Kool-aid guzzler.

Re: Bill Cowher!!
I think it is a good topic. If you don't want to read it just don't click on thread.
I would like to see him come here. I think he brings a lot of fire and experience. |
Re: Bill Cowher!!
Someone tell me why this thread shouldn't be locked
Can we just send it straight to Thread Hell? I love it when threads get sent to Thread Hell. |
Re: Bill Cowher!!
While it's a good topic to discuss during the off-season, or when it's specifically brought up that Gibbs is officially leaving, we're in the middle of a 5-3 season, with playoffs on the horizon...it's not a good topic right this moment.
There are also plenty of other coaches who would bring fire and experience...one of which is already in burgundy and gold... But to each their own. Fire away... |
Re: Bill Cowher!!
Didn't we discuss this a few weeks back?
Either way, we're 5-3 and right in the hunt. It really doesn't seem like the right time to be discussing a new coach, but that's just me. Carry on if you wish. |
Re: Bill Cowher!!
Frankly, and I'm speaking on behalf of all mods here, it gets old having to lock threads that should have never started in the first place. You'd think eventually people would have the common sense not to start some of the threads that are started here.
This is an old tired topic with no new information with a stupid title. Why don't we just start a whole bunch of similar threads? "Pete Caroll!!!!" "Russ Grimm!!!!!" "Jim Mora Jr.!!!!" "Randy Edsall!!!!"...and so on Maybe Cowher will come here (I sorta hope not) but it's not even a blip on the radar screen right now so why do we have to a new thread about it every other month? But whatever, some thought my Andy Reid thread was dumb (at least there was something new to discuss there). So to each his own I suppose. |

Re: Bill Cowher!!
WOW we are 5-3 and talking like Gibbs is gone and in the front office already. How about we let the season play out and see if Gibbs will be coming back. Enough of this Gibbs bashing already. WE ARE 5-3. Cheer for your team and quit wanting another coach while one is still here who is doing a pretty good job. HAIL!!
|
Re: Bill Cowher!!
Its being discussed because after 3.5 years we are nowhere close to being a dominant team.

Re: Bill Cowher!!
Why should this be a thread? Is there any new information about Cowher coming here, about Gibbs leaving? What is to be gained from discussing this now?
There is no "approved list" on what should/should not be threads. I just personally fail to see why this is being discussed now |

At the top of your page, you'll find an immense assortment of fun an exciting tools. One of them, being "Search". You'll find not just one, but at least 5 other threads talking about the same thing. This will help you avoid the inevitable embarrassment. It's a powerful tool. If after reading through these threads, you still have something to add. Post in one of the already existing threads. I mean seriously... look. Re: Bill Cowher!!
My only issue with blowing up the coaching staff is that it will only increase Campbell's learning curve if he's forced to learn a new system after next season. If that happens, I hope that we have the forsight to bring in an O-coordinator from the Coryell/Gibbs/Turner coaching tree to run the offense, since the terminology and concepts will be much the same.

Re: Bill Cowher!!
Cohwer is the Steelers coach and always will be...I don't want someone elses coach. Besides Gibbs has 1 more year on his contract...there is plenty of time to discuss the new coach when OUR coach decides it's time to retire.

Tank Johnson you mean? But yeah I hear ya. At least with those there is some new info. |

There is no "approved list" on what should/should not be threads. I just personally fail to see why this is being discussed now
No someone saw him on TV last night getting all up in the players face spitting all over them as he was pumped with their play. I guess. I have never understood this notion that a coach has to be running around like a mad man to be a tough great coach. All you have to do is look back at last years SB winners and their coach. |
Re: Bill Cowher!!
I think we should hire Vince Dooley!! or Danny Ford!! as HC. I was going to start a thread for each, but SS caused me to re-evaluate.
Or the fat guy from Kansas that makes Friegen look like a ballet dancer. He'd be fun. |

oh boy.....not again!
Hey Rob, what's your opinion on Bill Cowher?
I keed, I keed.
Personally, I really like the guy. I'd love him as my coach. I'm sure I've already expressed that in one of those 5 million Cowher threads . I hate to be a debbie downer... I haven't posted here in a while, and my first post in like a month is kind of a douche bag sarcasm. I think I'll mellow out for a while, maybe ease my way back into the SHFT, and then make a strong comeback post about next week baby! |
Re: Bill Cowher!!
tough as nails.......Wasnt Marty S tough as nails and wasnt he run out of town for it?
I dont know maybe cowher could work out here but we have to make a commitment to his tough style and not get rid of him in 2 years because you know that big contract will be given to him...Just something to think about till sunday** |

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the 6th thread on Bill Cowher, which contains no information that couldn't be found or argued in the previous 5 threads, is probably going to get some "carping" from the mods. You don't have to be able to read minds, a little common sense will work just fine. |

Re: Bill Cowher!!
I would suggest that discussions about thread protocol and etiquette do not belong in the locker room. They have the Playbook or whatever for this.

How exactly would the team benefit by having Gibbs in the front office? Gibbs was happy to stick to coaching instead of dabbling in personnel during his first run, and he hasn't exactly shown himself to be any sort of genius (to say the very least) when given the chance to have greater say in personnel during his second run. As someone said already in this thread, it was Gibbs' coaching that was supposed to right this ship. He's never been, and never will be, a personnel guy, so there is nothing for the organization to gain in having him go upstairs, unless someone believes that having him on the sidelines is a detriment. |

You have to base your common sense off of a list??
I dont but as they say, common sense isnt too common so others might. I though having a clear list would make it obvious for those lacking the common sense of thread starting and help stop the mods from getting frustrated with stupid redundant threads. |
Re: Bill Cowher!!
+1 for stupid thread.
