Biggest Bust as of Week 5

What NFL team so far has under-performed the most? I am not surprised that the Saints suck again, but the Bears and Chargers are dissapointing. I have to say the Chargers because LT has been sub-standard.

There is NO DOUBT it's the Saints.
I predicted a 7-9 or 8-8 season from the saints, but expected their O to perform well...that's not happening. They are sucking.

The Chargers are 2-3. Not terrible at this point.

Re: Biggest Bust as of Week 5

The Chargers will get it going and in the rather weak AFC West they can still easily win that division with 10-11 wins.

The Saints get my vote, they're not coming back.

chiefs... they're hideous. they had at least a solid running game the past several years, but they look like poop now...

The cowboys. They've really let me down this year :(

Hopefully they will make it up to me by losing out the rest of the year.

Saints followed by the Bears.

Nothing for Carolina?

This team looks awful. They have beat some pretty awful teams, but not even well.

They were supposed to be competitive this year.

I never understood the Carolina hype the last few years. I'm really not surprised they are up and down.

Larry Johnson

followed closely by LT, Frank Gore, Stephen Jackson...

And Sean "Doogie" Payton and the Saints

Even with the injury to Deuce, the saints offense looks pathetic!! Noone expected their D to do anything, but I didn't see their O just dropping off the charts like this!!!

Chargers won big today, so they are not a week 5 bust. Saints are the big bust since they are winless and many expected to go to the SB, Bears are a close second, followed by the Chiefs.

Jason Campbell for not completing every single pass today.

In all seriousness I agree its the Saints. REGGIE FOLLOW YOUR BLOCKERS. STOP GETTING ALL YOUR YARDS ON PASSING PLAYS.

Re: Biggest Bust as of Week 5

It's got to be the Saints. I picked them to win their first game today at home against a bad Carolina team with their third string quarterback playing.

2006 was a fluke for them. They suck. And I'm not picking them anymore.

Chargers and Saints easy. I had a feeling about both of those teams, I didn't think they were going to be as good as last year, but this is just terrible.

I guess the Bears winning means they don't qualify as a big bust :(

As for individual players I vote for Leinart. He has a "Chad Pennington." I piss further than he can throw.

I have to agree. In fantasy my first two picks were Steven Jackson and Brees. I wasn't confident when I drafted them but they have both still been HUGE disappointments. It has taken alot of FA moves for me to start winning.
How about the Packers losing??
They are very beatable. Just give the ball to big Mike Sellers on the goal line and we will score every time. Gibbs listened to the rumbles and made sure to call Sellers number today. All that garbage about needing a lead blocker is total bullshit. When you have a bulldozer like Sellers he's the only option down there on the 1 yard line. Redskins looked down right angry and they should be. We need to play with a chip on our shoulder all damn season.

I wouldn't be too comfortable if I were a Packers fan............

Re: Biggest Bust as of Week 5

Well we knew that Johnson would struggle based on his workload last year and lack of help from his teammates. LTs definately more of a surprise, but I think the media just overreacted to his slow start because of his rep. He'll be fine. Jackson's sort of a surprise, but again lack of help.

Saints defense was bound to be awful, but that offensive line has inexplicably regressed. THATS a surprise. It's not that the Saints are bad, its that they are SO bad.

I'm not all that shocked at the way the season has played out, the Rams being so bad has shocked me, and I honestly thought the Bears O would take a big step forward, and it hasnt at all. The futility of the Bears and Saints on offense is probably the biggest shock to me. Maybe the fact that Romo is so good. Did not see that coming.

Why, if anything it should have taken a step back.

Thomas Jones > Cedric Benson.

I'm also pretty shocked out how god awful the Rams are, but I do enjoy reminding my friend of it every day ;)!

Excellent post. I forgot about the Rams, but their defense is so bad as well. Steven Jackson and Larry Johnson are so bad it hurts. But the Saints were supposed to be a "Super Bowl" contender this year, 1 playoff game away from the super bowl last year and so far despite Deuce's injury, they have been horrible. Brees is better than this. Romo is really good and I hate the way he smiles all the time, but he's solid.

I'm really surprised that the Denver Bronco's are playing as poorly as they are.
I felt that they would have been able to put up more of a fight against San Diego.

41-3 is pretty sad.

Put up a fight, I thought they were going to smear the Chargers all over the walls. Maybe San Diego is turning it around!?!?

Jay Culter is so overrated. JC is more fun to watch and doesn't throw nearly as many picks. Also Travis Henry was taking bong hits before the game, so that didn't help. But the Donkeys are not as big as a bust as Champ trying to cover Gates. He was getting worked out their like Sellers works Lions DBs.

Beemnseven 10-08-2007 06:36 AM

Re: Biggest Bust as of Week 5

I actually picked the Chargers over Denver in my football pool. I figured that the players, in spite of Normal Norv, will take it upon themselves to lay an ass-whoopin' on a deceptively bad Broncos team. No team as talented as the Bolts will sit around and flounder like this for too long. They'll turn it around.

As for the Chiefs, they were my pick for the team that would plummet this year. It happens all the time with Herman Edwards-coached teams. He takes whatever offense he has -- and this year it was pretty bad to begin with -- and deliberately makes them boring in incredibly ineffective.

Records aside, the Chiefs are THE worst team in football. They are horrible. They have no threats - none.

They let Trent Green go for what has amounted to 2nd string quarterbacks. Hell, they don't even have Dante Hall anymore? LJ got paid and hasn't showed up yet. I guess he's still getting into football shape?

Miami Dolphins are easily the worst team in the NFL. Chiefs are pretty bad, but their defense isn't that bad.

Just goes to show you the most important position on the field is the O line! Johnson can't create his own holes, he needs help.

Chiefs, Saints, Rams, Falcons, and any team in the AFC East not named the Patriots all have a say in the 1st pick of the draft this year.

To be a bust, you'd have to be projected to be good. We all knew the Chiefs were poop. They're just stinker poop than predicted.

The Saints win this one easily.
