Great Playcalling
Run Run, Pass....Run Run, Pass .... Run Run , Pass .....Run Run, Pass, Fumble, Giants TD.....
Weather its Joe or Al...whoever claled this game should be fired |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
This is utterly pathetic. We can't expect our defense to win us games when our offense gets 14 yards in the 2nd half. Im not sure whos calling plays, Gibbs or Saunders, but someone needs to get their head out of their ass. To me it looks like the predictable Joe Gibbs offense weve seen in the past, but I'm not sure.
I cant put any blame on our defense, our offense NEEDS to do something. Ultra-conservative bullshit really bothers me. |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
Seems to be pretty widely agreed that Gibbs has been calling plays this game.
Which should never, ever happen again while Saunders is here. |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
If that's true, and I were Saunders. Id quit right now.
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
That Was A Pathetic Gameplan By Our Offense. Awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
First off let's give some credit to the Giants, they pulled it together today and probably saved their season.
We just couldn't get in any sort of rhythm offensively. Not sure if it was due to the play calling or a lack of execution. It was probably a combo of both, along with the Giants just stepping it up. |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
Worst...Playcalls...Ever....
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
On second thought, I do not wish to post.
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
YEAH blah blah blah about how well the Giants played. We looked great in the first half and come out and laid an egg in the 2nd. Can't do that and win in this league fellas.

Sorry but that was a high school offense I saw out there today. Why were we not attacking their awful 2ndary and LB's with passes??? They need to stop with this conservative bullshit and start attacking a little more. |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
It was like we were playing aggressively the first half, throwing deep, taking some chances.
Then it was like the second half was nothing but run, run, pass, punt. I dunno what pills Gibbs was popping at the half, but he needs to toss em. |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
I think the coaches got too comfortable with our lead, and by the time we hit crisis mode, it was far too late
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
campbell makes clutch plays to get them to the one and they take the ball out of his hands. it was there for the taking and they give it to the second string RB. Twice.
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
Bad 2nd half defense + terrible play calling = DIVISION LOSS
This makes me sick!!! |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
Why does Sellers not get the ball once? And What is Portis doing on the sidelines at the end?
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
saunders called the plays today as he always does.typical skins/giants/nfc east game.maybe it will put a chip on the players shoulders for the next 2 weeks, and
they'll come back really pissed! |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
Playcalling was bad, defense folded and Betts is the most useless short yardage back I have ever seen. Stretch the ball out and you score, break a tackle that 9 out of 10 NFL RB's break and you tie the ballgame. That was as inexcusable as taking the ball out of Jason Campbell's hands.
This game was reminiscent of the Norv era Skins. |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
i think everyone on this warpath overlooked the giants just like the redskins did!
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
If you watched this game, this is not Al Saunders offense. The defense played incredible despite the pathetic offensive playcalling. You can not ask the defense to stop the Giants offense the whole second half if the offense puts up 14 second half yards. Joe Gibbs should just stop fucking up with the offense. He needs to just let Al Saunders run this offense the way he sees fit. We are the Herman Edwards' Chiefs team of the NFC. This is pathetic.
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
It didn't help that the defense was on the field the whole second half, and the play calling in the redzone was absolutely horrible.
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
I knew we were in trouble after the first series in the second half. Skins (coaches and players) approached second half as if game was already over. Now I have to hear from my Giants fan wife until we play them again...this is a bad day!
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
I dunno, I saw the same offense that I've seen the past few weeks. Only difference is today we didn't convert on 3rd downs enough.
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
Good NFL Teams dont go up 17-3 at the half and lose....Good Teams dont do that, so by that logic....
Were not a good team, bottom line. That was fucking pathetic. ABSOLUTLEY pathetic. That playcalling was atrocious, I dont care what the Giants did, wheather they rallied or not, we were up SEVENTEEN TO FREAKING THREE.....Our offensive playcalling was ATROCIOUS...I could take the 11 people in my house and gain fourteen yards on offense against that pathetic Giatns defense |

I don't believe so. The Giants didn't play THAT great. (Granted they did play good) But when the Skins goes 3 and out for an entire half, the other team is gonna do something with all those chances. Which the Giants did. |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
LOL I love the board after a loss.
Welcome to over reaction city. |

Some folks on here are just averse to criticizing Gibbs. Joe v2.0 sucks at offensive play calling. Just 1 game though - would've been cool to head in to the bye 3-0, but 2-1 ain't that bad. Gotta win against the Lions though. |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
There is no excuse for blowing this kind of lead at home.
The defense didn't just bend, or break, but rather imploded back through time into 2006. Our o-line was physically dominated. Jason Campbell was flustered most of the game, played poorly. Passes were dropped. Many missed tackles. There was no rhyme or reason to our play calling. Too conservative on some plays, then running WR reverses at other times. This was an abortion of a game, and it's a huge loss. We cannot afford games like this, and this team needs to come out swinging in two weeks. |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
The clock management at the end of the game was predictably pathetic, but thats about the 8th most important reason as to why we lost.
In the second half, the defense got the ball thrown all over it. If Eli wanted a first down, he got it. Derrick Ward is a pretty good player back there. Offensively, we made more critical mistakes in the second half than good plays. Some weird things happened like Portis uncharacteristically grabbing at a handoff. Campbell's accuracy was troubling to say the least in the second half, and the offensive line struggled. I don't think the playcalling was bad, but it was unremarkable. Unremarkable playcalling and poor excution is always a disaster. |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
I hate to say this but if this was other coaching staffs the game would have been over. No reason why we were not passing more against the 31st rank pass defense.
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
2-1 is the only bright spot here. Although the way the entire team played today we could very well be looking at another 5-6 win season. I blame this loss more on the defense than the offense. We're up 17-3, it's on the defense to shut them down. Instead, we hand them 21 friggin points, and they shut our offense down. Granted, the playcalling was very conservative, and teams don't win by that, so i'm putting the blame on the entire team for this one.
|
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
Offense got way too conservative, the defense spent too much time on the field because of it, and the Giants gained all the confidence they needed to get back in the division race.
Pathetic 2nd half coaching. Gibbs used to be the master of half-time adjustments. I think he may have outcoached himself in this one. Very disappointing. And why is Portis on the sideline so much? |

Tough for me to blame the defense when the offense kept going 3 and out and giving them no rest. |
Re: Great Playcalling, Joe
I really cannot believe this. This is almost exactly what happened last year. Last year the Giants had a rocky stary and needed a win, so we went and got our asses kicked by them. This year, the Giants are off to a rocky start and need a win, so we decide to just give them the game. I'm beginning to think the Skins enjoy losing. I haven't been this pissed off over a loss in a while, and I have to buy my friend dinner. Hail to the Redskins, Hail Victory.

Welcome to over reaction city.[/QUOTE] I gotta disagree that I'm overreacting. I don't blame the D for folding because they were on the field almost the entire second half. I blame whoever was calling plays for the offensive and defensive struggles. And everyone's favorite "power back"/"Joe Gibbs style runner" can't break a tackle that everyone else in the NFL breaks and doesn't even attempt to score. Finally, I stand by my statement that they looked like Norv was coaching them today because that's the Skins team that I grew up watching: Get the lead, Put it on the D, watch the D give it back and then try to win it late. |

Yeah so much for "bend but not break", but the D was on the field almost the entire second half. Some of the blame has gotta go to the Offense for not converting. |

The Giants are a great offensive football team who badly, badly outplayed us in the second half. Their defense was going to figure it out eventually, and I've been around the game long enough to know that if you help them out by making critical offensive mistakes, you are doing half the work for them. Look, no reason to overreact. It's one loss, I don't think that at the beginning of the season that too many people had us better than 2-1 anyway. Should we have lost that game? Well, because of the way we played in the second half, I'd say yes, we were outplayed (overall). I still give us a good chance in the Meadowlands this December though. |
