Roster Cutdown to 75
We have to cut our roster from 85 to 75 players on September 1st. Who do you guys think the 10 unfortunate players will be?
My ten, just based off pure speculation, would be: LB Matt Sinclair FB/TE Brian Bell WR Ryan Hoag DL Bryant Shaw TE Jake Nordin DE Justin Hickman LB Kevin Jones WR Jerel Myers WR Carl Berman CB Leigh Torrence |
Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
Considering I recognize about 3 names on that list, I'd say thats a pretty accurate projection

Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
I don't think sinclair, or torrence will go this round. Williams had good things to say about Sinclair and Torrence has been solid. I think Fabini and Boschetti are gone.

Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
They have until Tuesday 4pm to make these cuts, just an fyi.

I have Sinclair, and Torrence in their because of the logjams at their respective positions. I believe Boschetti is a possibility, but I think he will make it another week, as for Fabini we need to keep him because their is no depth at O-line, and he provides veteren experience, and decent depth. |
Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
They will probably announce the cuts today or tomorrow. There's no point in having these guys hang around for the short week if they are not going to play Thursday.

I doubt it, the coaches will probably want another week of practice, and the final preseason game to evaluate some of the guys that are on the bubble to make sure they make the right decisions. |

Cerrato said today or tommorrow on the radio yesterday. They have to go Tuesday anyway, so there is no "another week" for the first ten to go. |

The deadline is 4 pm EST September 1st. So yes those fringe players would be able to practice this week, and play Thursday against the Jaguars before we need to make the cuts. |

No. The title of the thread is "Roster Cutdown to 75", which has to happen by Tuesday Aug 28, 2007 (put your arrow over the little Redskins helmet on the calendar): Washington Redskins |
Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
I think they will drop the guys we haven't heard making many plays this preseason. :)

Do you think? How about during regular season, do we drop those guys as well? |

I really dont think we have a DE answer yet. If so, who would have to go for him to stick? |
Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
I wouldn't be suprised iour quality cuts came this round such as
Ade Jimoh, Salavea a mirad of 4th safeties, Renaldo Wynn (stretch) Rock Cartwright decent rookies are usually not cut this round since they can hit the practice squad. They like to give vets a chance to catch on with another team...a late cut would really hurt them. Who do you think could be a veteran "quality" cut? |

Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
how about pinkston?does he get a pass and onto the roster on past merits?
so far he has not played has he?cartwright has'nt played enough to get a pass either! |
Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
rock cartwright is a shoe in to make the team. i also think the redskins will keep joe salavea. but rock is 100 percent making the team and i dont want to hear "nothing is 100%"

Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
I say get rid of Boschetti,Brunell, James Thrash
|
Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
They are NOT cutting Rock. He is our kick off return guy and one of the toughest mo fo's we have. Not getting the axe...thanks!
Not cutting Thrash either. My god were are you getting this from? |

Why in the world would we cut Thrash? |

They might do it since he is not really valuable as a WR anymore. They could get a rookie to take his place on SP and no harm will really be done. Thrash has been here forever man, except his brief stint in Philly and he has really not done much. Hell, I rather have Rod Garder back on the team more than Thrash. |

Thrash is the most clutch receiver on this team next to Moss, he provides great veteren leadership, good depth at WR, and not to mention great special teams play. Thrash is still valuable to this team, he is not going anywhere. |
Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
Two big names that I haven't heard all preseason -- at least in terms of them making plays -- are David Macklin and Jeremetrius Butler.
Hasn't Eubanks been getting more of the spotlight than either of these two guys? |
Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
First Cuts: Butler Among 6 Released
First round of cuts are in, and the six players released are: Jerametrius Butler, CB Jamaal Green, DE Kevin Jones, LB Jerel Myers, WR Todd Pinkston, WR Bryant Shaw, DE no shockers there. We're down to 79 players, but because 4 players have roster exemptions due to NFLE, technically we meet the 75 player limit. |
Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
They should cut James TRASH AND MARK BRUNELL,Todd Wade,Sartz

Thrash is not only a great special teams player, he's also a leader in the locker room and a decent wide receiver. Plus he's a model citizen on and off the field, as evidenced by the fact that he's on the commissioner's player advisory council. Brunell won't be cut because he has value. He brings experience to the table, and he's been key in helping JC's development. Clearly age has caught up with him but he's been here just as long as anybody and knows the system just as well. Plus he carries a large cap hit, so we aren't gonna see him cut. You'll see him traded to another team before you see him cut. Todd Wade is now the backup at tackle where he rightfully belongs. He's not a guard in this league and never will be. But at least if Jansen goes down or doesn't play well, we can turn to Wade. He did a great job filling in for Jansen against the Saints last year. Dallas Sartz is probably the only guy on this list that has a chance of getting cut. You must not have been watching the game Saturday night because he was the one that returned the interception for a touchdown. He might have a future in this league, but he's only a rookie so don't crucify him just yet. |
Re: Roster Cutdown to 75
I'm going to lock this thread down because a.) we now have a thread about the first official cuts and b.) I don't want to see Redskins21x say we should cut Thrash yet again without providing any reason for it
