Is todd wade really gonna start at LG?
K i hear now that he might take some time to adjust at the LG position. And guys like Pucalo and others are competing. So who do you think will start? I say and you guys might not agree ,but i say we should start Heyer at LG.Look hes young very big and he has alot off help from guys like Thomas and Samuels .Give the guy a try there i think he'll fit more better there than LT cause i think he can't handle the LT position to well yet.We put him at LG he'll be real big and guys won't go trough at all I believe and in the rushing he can help Portis out too.But i think he can't be good at LT and i think Bugle might even switch him when Samuels comes back. But hey Todd Wade let some guys trough and they said he was doing great at that position so what do you guys say you agree with me I really Like Heyer.

Re: Is todd wade really gonna start at LG?
The only problem with that is the fact that you can find quite a few linemen in the league who are young and big.
It's finding the good ones that's hard. ;) |
Re: Is todd wade really gonna start at LG?
Heyer is much less of an NFL guard than he is an nfl tackle. I think he played tackle all four years in college. He doesn't have the body type suited for guard. Neither does Wade for that matter but only because he is too tall.

A lot of people quote sizes but I think that's just something the media puts out. Randy Thomas is one inch shorter and 5 pounds lighter, but no one is saying he's playing out of place. |
Re: Is todd wade really gonna start at LG?
You really have to start writing more legibly. It's not a bad thread, it's a good one in fact, but it's hard to care what you have say when you write so incoherently.

Re: Is todd wade really gonna start at LG?
The origional idea was to have Wade start next to Samuels, but the two have not been able to team because Samuels went down. There is nothing to make me think that is not still the plan. I know coaches were hoping for the two to have a little more time to work together, but injury thwarted that plan.

Boo hoo. Take the freaking time to put some grammar effort into your posts please. Some of them are rather illegible. |

I'll second that thought! Grammar 101 in session....... |
Re: Is todd wade really gonna start at LG?
No offense to the thread starter here, but I'm going crazy talking about who's going to play LG. All I'm going to say is, someone will play LG this year, and that someone will do a good enough job to get by. If we can just get decent play out of the position we'll be fine.

Re: Is todd wade really gonna start at LG?
I feel that LG is a real problem. Especially with Jansen looking rough I don't like having two problem spots on our line. While I don't think Heyer is the answer. He's the type of player we need to keep on our roster and develop for a while.
I'd love to see us talking to the Jets seeing what they want for Kendell. |

I'd worry more about acting like a civil person if I were you. Also, your grammar isn't very good either (e.g., "some grammar effort?"). |

Re: Is todd wade really gonna start at LG?
I don't think anyone here is exactly a grammar nazi, but it's important for the forum to stay successful that we are able to all write clear and concise thoughts. It doesn't take long to copy and paste into word if you're at all in question. Any post over a few lines I do that with anyways.

With him on the roster we could put him in at left guard and consider using T. Wade at RT for Jansen if he does not improve. I do recall when he was in there doing "cough" as good or better job than Jansen. Than we can develop Heyer through this season and he would still be a decent back up if needed. Jets problem with Kendell seems there want him to play Center which he has alot of problems with but he seems to be a great guard. |

I don't want want to give up anything (i.e. a player or a pick) for a stopgap measure like Kendall. Unless we think he has several years left in him a la Ray Brown |

Re: Is todd wade really gonna start at LG?
I'm not the very good with grammer but if after you type the thread read it again and that will help. Its one thing to post something thats a little rough to read but starting a thread which is hard to read is another story. Just remember that if your interested in a topic enough to start a tread try and word it so others will be interested in the thread and if its hard to read or follow people will just skip to another thread. Which you will have probably started!LOL

He is under contract and the reason he isn't happy is because he wants more $. Plus he is in his mid 30's. |

After watching Kendall closely in the Jets last preseason game vs the Cowgirls last week, we can safely say he still has what it takes to be one of the better guards in this league. If I was a betting man he has 2-3 years left in the tank. If we could get him for a 5th round pick (which the what the Jets were looking for a while back) I would jump at the chance. Alas it looks like Kendall is in the Jets plans this year no matter what he says about the FO... so we should look elsewhere |

(more legible than what I just wrote)
I read that like everything was spelled correct. I spell so bad that when I use spell check it throws up a ? mark. The sad part is my mother is an english/ grammer teacher with only a few hour from her Dr. degree. I never email her because she will correct everthing and sen it back the way it should have been done. |
Re: Is todd wade really gonna start at LG?
O great now if the LG position is a worry than most likely well draft a LG if nothings wrong.

Re: Is todd wade really gonna start at LG?
So if we are getting Kendall, do we right away move Wade to starting LT until Samuels returns?
|
Re: Is todd wade really gonna start at LG?
I wonder how long it would take to get Kendall acclimated to the system? I'm sure it'll take more than a few reps to get ready.

I think we throw him in this next preseason game as a starting seeing that JC won't be in. That way we get reps and he isnt too big of a liability. On a side note this thread and the other Kendall rumor thread are talking about pretty much the same thing... |

I would. But Coach just gave Heyer a ringing endorsement two days ago. Can we just forfeit our remaining pre-season games and wait for Samuels to get back? |

I think they end the Wade experiment sometime soon. Slide Wade back to his normal position. Leave Heyer over there. It's really good experience for him, actually. They can critique his mechanics and technique using real game time film. I think this kid could actually end up being good. I say they let Pucillo and Kendall duke it out at guard. |
Re: Is todd wade really gonna start at LG?
I don't think there will be any duking it out. I think Kendall will take it in a landslide.

I say they let Pucillo and Kendall duke it out at guard.
It seems the Kendall pick-up solves several problems. First, Kendall will, without any doubt, be our starting LG by next week. Despite what the Jets are saying the guy is a starter all the way and has started all but 2 games since he came into the league (excluding injury scratches, which were minimal). With PK at guard, Wade can shift back to his natural position and back-up Jansen. Some say Wade is better than Jansen, but regardless of who starts, you have high quality depth there. Hoyer is getting valuable experience and looks like he's got the goods to be a quality LT once he gets some more experience under his belt, which gives us solid depth at LT when Samuels comes back. Seems to me this acquisition solved more than one problem, and the cost was minimal (who would expect a 4th round draft pick to start at LG?). Obviously I am concerned about PK's contract affecting our ability to sign Cooley to the extension he deserves, but I have a feeling we'll work around that. |

Good call. I've had some reservations about it considering his age but it really might not be so bad. |
