What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
I am 22 years old, was born in Annapolis, grew up in Maryland, attended college at the University of Maryland, and still live in the same great state. For my entire life I've been a diehard fan of the Orioles and Terps, but if there is one thing I cannot stand about the great state of Maryland it is the RAVENS!!!! I don't know how I can explain how much I dislike that team. It's like when they came around I was semi-excited, I thought to myself, I'll be a Skins fan to the death, no matter what, but I'll pull for Baltimore's team too cause I like Baltimore. It seemed like no one really liked the Ravens for a while, until they made their playoff run and won the Superbowl. And since then all Ravens fans, or atleast the one's I'm friends with never shut the hell up about the stupid Ravens and how bad the Skins are and it drives me freakin nuts!!!!!! I mean in my opinion most Ravens fans are traitors because they had to like another team before they liked Baltimore, and then they changed allegiances. At my friend's party on New Year's Eve I met this guy wearing a Ray Lewis jersey who said he converted to the Ravens after being born and raised a Skins fan, I wanted to throw up, and it wasn't because I drank too much. There's this other guy I grew up with who didn't even like football in highschool, and now he's this huge Ravens fan, just cause they're doing good this year and he talks shit all the time, drives me insane. I dunno if it's just me, but their fans, atleast the ones I know, are just flat out obnoxious and it's caused me to hate a team from my home state! If they win the Superbowl this year, I just don't know if I'll be able to take the bragging that's going to come. Oh yeah, I already posted this picture once, but it was at the end of a thread, so I dunno if anyone saw it, but this is what happen to me when our boys lost to the Ravens the last time they played them. Trynna Go??? I'm the one in the purple, I had to wear that outfit all day, and I had to go to class, it was a horrible day. Does anyone else share my opinion of the Ravens, or am I being an unreasonable, angry, angry Redskins fan?
|
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
I share your thoughts completely. I even pulled for the Ravens to win the Super Bowl because I figured it'd be cool to have a team from my home state win, but I never expected it would turn the majority of their fanbase into a big bunch of D-bags.
Now, I really can't stand them and I'll be so pissed if they somehow in the SB because all my friends from college (Salisbury) will act like it was the greatest accomplishment of all time and I will never hear the end of it. I've been saying for a week that if the Super Bowl somehow ends up being the ravens vs the cowboys I honestly don't think I'll be able to watch a minute of it. |
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
many have heard me complain about this a lot. I go to UMD right now and there are raven fans everywhere. I can't find a good skin fans. No joke there are more fans of other nfc east teams on the floor than there are skins fans. I would say there are only two true skin fans, myself included. THere are like 3 eagle fans and like 4 Giants fans. Its horrible.
There are a ton of raven fans. You are right; they are the most annoying people in the world. They just don't shut up. I know i am going to hear about them and how bad the skins are today when i head on down to the umd basketball game and my friends who are raven fans are there. The thing is, some of my best friends are the raven fans. Like I said we are going to go down and watch the game tonight. I guess a common interest in sports is a good thing. |
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
I don't much care about the Ravens, since I live in Philly.
But I can relate about the Eagles a little bit. I have lived here since I was 4 years old, moved here from Alexandria VA. My dad raised me on Gibbs and the Redskins, and I became a huge fan. Growing up, all of my friends were big Eagles fans. And they would taunt me about liking the 'Skins. Of course I had Super Bowls to point to, so I could shut them up pretty easily. But still, their attitude towards me has given me a deep-rooted hatred for the Eagles. It's a little easier to hate a division rival though, so it's not quite the same as the Ravens situation. But still, I get the concept. |
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
I don't have much of a problem with the Ravens. I will especially be pleased if they have to play a ...excuse me... :vomit: ....(sorry about that)....NFC East team and beat the crap out of them.
I'm thinking Bears versus Chargers game, which would be alright since my wife is a Bears fan and LT won me $250 in fantasy football this year. |

They actually get happy when the skins lose. My raven friends know i won't watch a skins game with them. Its just too annoying. Probably b/c the skins are so bad this year. However, i can hear them cheer when something bad happens to the skins. I can hear them from my room with my door closed, with my true skin fans by my side. It actually pisses me off. I think they think i am just joking. but i digress. My point is, we aren't there rival so it isn't as bad as your situation. And you are vastly out numbered. |
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
Its hard to be a fan of a team that is a perennial loser and for some 10 year old kid in the DC area the skins have been a perennial loser while the ravens have won a super bowl and are perennial playoff team. I can easily see why that kid would be a ravens fan. People like to follow winners and right now the ravens win and the skins dont.
|
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
The other thing that pisses me off is how easy the Raven's schedule was this year. They did have quality wins against SD and New Orleans, but come on they get to play the Browns twice every year!!!!! I wish the Browns were in our division. The Steelers sucked this year, they got to play them twice too!!!
Buffalo 7-9 Cleveland 4-12 Oakland 2-14 Tampa Bay 4-12 Atlanta 7-9 They got to play six games against teams with losing records and only 4 games against teams with winning records. |
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
Who cares as long as the Cowboys don't win it all I'm fine.
|
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
Actually, I hope the Cowpukes do win it all. I hope the Eagles or Giants don't make a miraculous run.
Parcells then retires, and they become pushovers for a decade like us. |
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
Same here Matty. I won't be happy until all NFC East teams are eliminated. Thank God Qwest field is so loud, because if it weren't for that 12th Man, I don't think the Seahawks will beat the Cowboys.
|
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
I think this is a great thread! I hate those losers, and I know exactly why they root so hard for the Skins to lose. It's because these guys are ex-Skins fans! They feel so bad about it subconsciously that it breeds an irrational hatred of the Skins. Seriously, my question is, if you are over the age of 20, who did you like before the Ravens? Did you not watch football? Did you not have a team? Did you root for Indy? In many cases you had people loving themselves some Skins while we were winning superbowls, then jumping ship just in time for the 2000 season. You can like whoever you want to like, but you will never understand what it feels like to root for one team your whole life - the same team your father, uncles, and grandfather rooted for. So enjoy your little superbowl, and if you win this year enjoy that too. But Ravens fans as fans can't look me in the eye, and unless they were born after 1996, never will be able to.

Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
Seattle will beat Dallas as long as their D keeps playing like crap. I would just shove Alexander down their throats all day.
|
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
If both Giants/Eagles and Dallas get knocked out this round, I'm good. Out of the three, if I had to pick, I'll pick the Giants to advance.

Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
Gabe good call. IMO the Raven's SB win belongs to the city of Cleveland.
|
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
I'd like to see the Saints or Chargers win the whole thing. As long as the Ravens, Cowboys, Eagles, or Giants don't win it, I'll be ok. Actually, it would be kinda bittersweet if the Eagles won it without McNabb. I can't stand McNabb because he always manages to tear us a new one and then do freakin Micheal Jackson dance moves in the endzone, and I hated that interview he did on ESPN when said TO's actions towards him were a "black on black crime," you gotta be kidding me, I couldnt believe he started talking about race, opening up a whole new can of worms. And then on the radio last week I heard that his mother was mouthing off, saying how difficult it was for their family to watch the Eagles win without Donovan, ha, if they won without McNabb, I would be pissed cause I couldnt remind Eagles fans anymore that they haven't won a Superbowl, but I would take some joy in seeing McNabb suffer because they won it without him.

I HATE Ravens fans. the funny thing last year when the Skins were in the playoffs and they were at home, everyone in Bel -Air had all their old Redskins shit out. People were coming up to me i nthe gym and were like "go skins!" since they saw me wearing my hat all year.

The whole place erupted when Moss caught the first touchdown, I went freaking nuts and the bouncer told me to settle down or else he'd kick me out. And then after he caught the second I flipped out again, went over to some girl I didn't know wearing a Skins jersey and picked her up off the ground with a big hug. It was pretty sweet cause the whole bar was filled with Skins fan, everyone was givng each other hi fives and hugs after the game, it was the best Redskins experience in College Park ever. My roomate is a Dallas fan and the whole time we walked home from the bar I sang Hail To The Redskins to him, it was so great. Plus, the whole game the few Dallas fans that were there were talking shit, and after the game we started singing that song "Nah Nah, nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey, good bye" and pointing at the Dallas fans in the bar, it was awesome. |

I'm a nats fan, a skins fan.........and an orioles fan. It's pretty much the only way you can do it if you live in washington. You cannot abandon the orioles just cause a new team came to town, so i support them.....and you SHOULD NOT abandon the skins if the ravens came to town. If you can stop being a fan of a team and start to hate them.....then you were never really a fan. So those ravens fans that were once skins supporters and now root against washington cannot be considered true fans of any team at all......at least not until one generation passes.

Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
I live in Baltimore and listen to Ravens crap all the time. I where my Skins stuff year round and catch hell for it. What pisses me off is that, basically, Ravens fans are front runners. The have had a successful team for 5-6 years out of 10. The Colts left town bc of a shitty owner BUT also b/c the Colts were losing and they lost their fan support. Hell, they couldn't fill Memorial Stadium. If the Colts had been winning, the fans would have demanded that the city find a way to keep'em.
The Skins' fan base has lived, and thrived, despite the decades of losing in the 50's, 60's and 90's. Irsay was a crappy owner? Aren't you telling me that DS is too? What about old GPM who refused to sign black player? So what do I say to Ravens' fans chirping about the recent success? My comeback is the standard, 3 SB's 4 NFL championships in 70 years. And then I throw this at them. "Well at least we could hold onto a team, talk to me in 70 years - then let's compare notes." Man does THAT piss em off. I generally finish with the classic "besides, I don't know why you Ravens fans are so fixated on the Skins' - we couldn't care less about your team." Leaves them sputtering in their crabs and Natty Boh every time. Skins' fans stick around "win, lose or draw". Ravens fans stick around for "win". |
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
Leaves them sputtering in their crabs and Natty Boh every time.
Ohhh, summer time, you won't get here quick enough! I'm not a Ravens fan, but I definitely enjoy pickin' me some crabs, and drinkin' Natty Boh down on the shore, hon! It's weird how I naturally accepted the Nats coming to town from Montreal (being an O's fan), yet can't stand the Ravens coming to town from Cleveland. I guess it's the nature of the beast. While there are diehard baseball fans, there is something about football that just stokes the ego. And there is a certain un-earned arrogance about many Ravens fans that just pisses me off. But to each their own. I'd like to see the Chargers and Saints in the Super Bowl. 2 quality teams that have both sides of the ball covered particularly well. |
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
I don't hate the Ravens ... that would require some passion about them. If the Ravens won the Super Bowl it would have absolutely no impact on me.
I think the Redskins fans living in the Maryland suburbs are much more likely to be impacted by the Ravens than I am. |
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
I don't hate the Ravens. I DO hate the Orioles. You're too young to. When I was growing up we had the Senators. Lousy team, but our team. Then Bob Short (may he rot in peace) "changed" them into the Texas Rangers. Then we might have gotten back baseball in Washington. But the Angelos family (I hope they get stuck in jail with sex offenders and no supervision) who owns the Orioles had veto power to keep a baseball team from coming to Washington. They figured Senators fans could become Orioles fans. Go stuff it up your a** Angelos. (The same lawyer family that negotiated the class-action cigarette case in Maryland that resulted in between $500million and $1billion in legal fees!) We were only able to get baseball in Washington by bribing the Angelos family.
How do I want the NFC East teams to do in the playoffs? 1) The Cowboys: I hate them. I do NOT want them to do well. 2) The Giants: I don't like them, but if they do well they might keep Coughlin. That could be very good news for the Redskins. I also think the fans won't be too obnoxious about it. I think even they know they'll need a lot of luck to do well in the playoffs. I also think Tiki has earned it. 3) Philly: I don't like the fans, but if they won I don't think it would bother me. They've come close a lot of times and done amazingly well this year, all things considered. (i.e. with Garcia.)
I'm a nats fan, a skins fan.........and an orioles fan. McNair was the missing piece. Give these guys credit. They may screw up on the QB but they draft as well as anyone. Heap R. Lewis Ogden Ngata Suggs J. Lewis A. Thomas C. McAlister E. Reed Landry....rookie safety who was drafted and took over for Demps Scott. Signed as a free agent LB in 01 and is now playing better than R. Lewis |
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
How would I feel if the Ravens won the Super Bowl ? I don't know, pissed and angry come to mind. I personally hate the Ravens. Why ? Because i hate the fact that the team moved from Cleveland and changed the name but still held onto Cleveland Browns records. They trotted out Jim Brown for a parade once, but I thought they were their own entity ? However, the city of Cleveland had to get an expansion team and start from scratch. I feel bad for every Browns fan because they should've enjoyed that Super Bowl, not the teamless losers in B-More ! When they won that first Bowl everyone I knew in baltimore called me, that entire summer I caught shit. It was cool because I'd shut them up by telling them that they should call someone in Cleveland and apologize because it should be them who are celebrating. These mindless pricks actually believe that the team wouldn't have been built the same way if they had stayed in Cleveland ? FUCKING SERIOUSLY ????? Ozzie Newsome their GM, guess what HE'S A FUCKING FORMER BROWN !!!!! I hated them, they acted like Crab and Oooooos country was what turned that franchise around ! They STILL would have made the same personnell moves, still would've drafted the same. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH I HATE THE RAVENS !!!!! I hate their colors, I hate their merchandise, I HATE THE FACT THAT THERE IS RAVENS SHIT ALL OVER BELTSVILLE !!!!!! I used to live in Landover, move to Beltsville and I have to soil my hands sifting through Ravens stuff to get to the merchandise of my favorite team, The Washington Redskins.
However, there is one thing that I hate more than the Ravens, and their fans. But those who call themselves Skins fans, AND RAVENS FANS !!!! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME ?????? I MEAN IS THERE NO END TO THE LUNACY ???? I respect the team, the way they are built is marvelous. They do in fact draft well, I think Newsome is one of the best GM's in the league right now. There defense is stout, and they keep their players together ! Besides all of that,... FUCK THE RAVENS !!!! There are three things I hate in this world The Cowboys, The Ravens, and Chitterlings Chittlin's whatever you call them !!!!! Never ate them but they fucking stink ! HA, thought i was going to say something about football. I'm sorry I'm sorry the last one is.................................. PULSE - THAT MOVIE FUCKING SUCKED BALLS, I WASTED A NETFLIX SELECTION ON THAT SHIT !!!!! |
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
I think it's hard for any Skins fan that doesn't live in or around Baltimore or frequently associates with people from there to understand how miserable ravens fans can be. Like I said before, I used to root for the ravens, I went to a Monday night game up there and had fun, and I was happy that a team from Maryland was able to win the SB (Bohnzie mocked me for it at the time, and now I know he was right) but that was before I knew what would happen to their fan base.
Some of my best friends from college are ravens fans and, for the most, I feel like I can't have serious football conversations with them because they always try to turn it into some pissing contest or whatever. They don't even acknowledge the fact that when we were kids (being that were all in our early/mid 20s) they didn't even have a home team to root for. For some reason they were actually raised to hate the Skins, which really makes no sense to me at all. Peter Angelos had been the primary reason that my birthplace didn't have a baseball team but I wasn't raised to hate the O's because of that. And at the same time, my friends from B'more like the Wizards and the Caps, but they hate the Skins because they're so fickle and so "Charm City-centric" that they can't see how hypocritcal they act. It really grates on my nerves and I don't know if I could sit through watching them in the super bowl. |

I hate the Ravens with every fiber of my being, primarily because they are the product of Art modell's screw-job to the city of Cleveland and because I can't stand Brian Billick. Nevertheless, I can't entirely buy the the idea that the Ravens' base is made up mostly of ex-Redskins fans. I'm almost 40, and most of the Ravens fans I know had some tie to the area and were Colts fans when they were kids. They may have thrown some tepid support behind the Skins when the Colts left, but they always wanted a team of their own again. |
Re: What happens if the Ravens win the Superbowl?
I hate the Ravens, too. However, the best defense I heard from one Ravens fan was that they turned on Washington during the Steve Spurrier era cause they hated Snyder. Now, I don't think it's okay to sell your favorite team out just cause some new one comes around, but Snyder pushing people away from the Skins is something I can certainly understand. He's done it to me a little bit.
Anyway, I have adopted the Saints as a favorite team of mine because I lived in New Orleans. Now, I am still WAY more of a Skins fan than Saints, but I'm pulling for them a lot more recently. I was choked up when they reopened the dome. Also, my parents moved to South Carolina last year. It just made me hate the Panthers about 10x more than I already did. The only difference now is that I like Steve Smith. I hate Jake Delhomme so much more now that I've seen his inconsistent ass play. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is this: I don't see how anyone can turn on a team they've grown up loving. I couldn't make the Skins even my second favorite team if my life depended on it. I'm not saying they weren't real fans before, cause I can understand Snyder pushing people away, but it's not something I could ever do. |

That's how I see it too. Most of my friends just idn't have a local team to root for when we were kids. They usually say they liked some random team that was good at the time (ie, the 49ers, Raiders, Chicago, etc.) and that they jumped on the purple :( bandwagon when it came to town. |
