Brunell haters...what if they put in Collins?
I am a semi-Brunell hater. I think he is the teams best chance in the short run, but we gotta think future with our shitty record.
But my main point is, when Brunell went out with a torn off toenail(awww poor babyyy), Collins was warming up. I was really pissed bc I do not want that tool in, no matter what. But let's Brunell goes down next week, or just sucks hard, who is going in? I think alot of us want Campbell in, but I think the coaching staff, due to their man love for Collins, will put Collins in. I don't know about you guys, but I rather have a hurt, noodle-arm Brunell, rather than an anything Collins. You guys? |
Re: Brunell haters...what if they put in Collins?
Ive said it before but FUCK TODD COLLINS! YOU SAID IT BUDDY!! HE IS A FUCKING TOOL!!! BRUNELL CAMPBELL OR ME!!!!!!!!!!! fuck it

Re: Brunell haters...what if they put in Collins?
I'd rather have Brunell until we are certainly out of the playoff hunt (2 more losses). After that, I'd like to go with Campbell as we all know that neither Brunell nor Collins are our future.

You ever had one of those? Hold still while I get the needle-nose pliers Mr. Bring The Pain. |

You need to learn to express yourself. Use curse words if it helps. I wish you would just come out of your shell and tell us what you really think. |
Re: Brunell haters...what if they put in Collins?
What's to discuss? Collins is the #2 guy. Why would he NOT be going in if Brunell gets hurt? Given the choice between Collins and Campbell, I would rather see Campbell play, but there is probably a good reason for him being #3 and not #2.

Haha, I actually have had those, and yeah they do kinda hurt. But he made it seem like his toe was ripped off or something. |
Re: Brunell haters...what if they put in Collins?
We are not coaches, they make all the calls, just another poorly executed game by the TEAM. Bad decision making, terrible defense, terrible special teams. We are dead meat next week.

Well it is just a point the majority of this board wants to see Brunell on the bench, but I would think a majority of the board wants Campbell in, but when Brunell went out for a bit Campbell was warming up and he is #2, as you pointed out. Hence the thread, we want Brunell out, but we don't want Collins in, which seems to be what would occur. So then the question, do we want Brunell in, or Collins? |

That's what makes me nervous skinsguy. Every time I hear people talk about him (e.g. Redskins coaches), they keep saying "He's got all the physical tools to be a great quarterback. He just needs to learn the mental aspects of the game." Is this guy just plain too dumb to be the #2 quarterback? Or is it just that Collins is Saunders' boy and knows the offense? |

But he did go back in. Brunell didn't miss any snaps. |
Re: Brunell haters...what if they put in Collins?
Todd Collins was warming up because Gibbs said if Brunell went down during a game they would turn to Collins. However, if Brunell misses a game he would go to Campbell.

The latter seems more likely to me. Generally coaches stick with the guy you know rather than the guy you inherit. May not be fair... but thats the way it is usually. who effin knows. |
Re: Brunell haters...what if they put in Collins?
My theory is that JC plays a lot like Vince Young was playing today. Pretty strong and accurate but doesn't always make the best decisions (typical of a rookie). The reason Collins is the emergency #2 is probably because they plan on turning the ball over to portis anyway. Then they use the rest of the week to mold JC into the starter/thrower. They know Collins can't play, they also know hes too smart to run up the middle or to force a pass under double coverage.

Re: Brunell haters...what if they put in Collins?
No Collins. Dude can't start in this league. What could be better proof than his struggles in preseason against 2nd and 3rd string defenses. He's a relief QB in the event of injury, at best.

I would be inclined to think the latter would be more acurate. There's nothing that would lead me to believe that Campbell is dumb, any QB who can learn a different system every year he's played the game shouldn't have a cerebral problem. If that were the case then the Redskins would have to be the dumb ones for trading, and giving up what they did for him. I'm of the opinion JG and Al Saunders should have gotten together and made a decision on who the #2 QB was going to be before he decided to hire him to call the plays. JG told Jason one thing at the end of the season last year, then hires Saunders, he brings in Collins and they tell him something different. The Redskins played a hell of a price for a QB who after two seasons cannot be considered the #2 In my opinion there's more going on here than meets the eye. |
Re: Brunell haters...what if they put in Collins?
C'mon the guy had his toenail ripped off and we're acting like he's a crybaby?
I had two of my ingrown toenails cut out once and I'm telling ya, if I had to go play in a football game just minutes later I would have been crying like a 5 year old. The pain of the procedure is bad enough, but if someone stepped on that bad boy oh man, talk about white hot pain. He didn't even miss a snap so this is a non-issue anyway. |
Re: Brunell haters...what if they put in Collins?
Did you guys miss JGs discussion of this at the beginning of the year? Collins is #2 because he knows the offense well and can jump in cold is MB goes down. They want a week to insert a simplified scheme if MB is down for more time, so that Campbell has the best chance to thrive in this complex offense. Remember, the second and third QBs get basically NO time with the first team offense during the week. Putting in a rookie (basically) who is less familar with the offense makes little sense, IMO, if you've got a guy who knows it sitting there. But if it's a longer-term deal, then they can set the stage properly for JC.
PS IMHO, people are going to be very surprised if and when Collins gets in. He's got a stronger arm than MB at this point, and he knows the offense better. He had some shaky moments in preseason, but doesn't he hold a bunch of passing records at U MICH? I don't think Saunders keeps him around just as a friend. I bet he can throw the 3 yard MB dumpoff just fine, and probably some passes MB can't make. (This may be wishful thinking, but what the hey...) |
Re: Brunell haters...what if they put in Collins?
what's missing at QB is some athleticism and some instinct. defenses in today's NFL are so aggressive and fast, you need confidence in your legs or arm to actually BEAT someone. Brunell and Collins are the furthest thing from that.
