Chemistry can't be bought
Chemistry can't be bought, simply that. Year in year out, the skins hardly have the chance to gain familiararity with personnel, plays, and expectations. This is what Snyder has failed to grasp -signing big names with a possible good intention but underlining desire to market the Super Bowl potential talent to lure in the fans money. The additions are TOO patchworked and don't fit a unified design. Unless that design is to find new ways to break my heart while I watch the rival teams celebrate NOT being cursed to be a "DEADSKIN" (as I will hear for the next 365 days)
Shamefully, it is like having your license taken away, while having a garage full of Lamborgini's and other exotic cars that are sitting on cinder blocks. Unable to leave the neighborhood for fear of being exposed as a fraud even if the car was in motion. What is to be will be, this is the way of the world. It would have been nice to have respect for the team at the end of the season, however, out the window with that outcome. Baseball thankfully is over if it ever began at least the NBA will be starting up and I will not have to watch ESPN to hear the Skins be the laughing stock of professional sports as often. See you next year Redskins, I am sure you will show your true colors at some point b/c I won't be looking too hard for you. |
Re: Chemistry can't be bought
so true :(

Re: Chemistry can't be bought
i pretty much agree with the original post. For once I would like to see the Redskins try and build through the draft and have a coach for at least 4+ seasons to rebuild the team in his own image. Look at what Lovie Smith has done with the Bears. Just another team that waited patiently to get all the right pieces to the puzzle and now they're the hottest thing since the Pats. :(

Re: Chemistry can't be bought
Football is about going out together as one and beating the hell out of the other gang. Pride is established by doing this. I have no pride watching them, in fact I would prefer if they would forfeit the rest of the season and be known as spineless pussies rather than pussies having their spines ripped out. That would be the first sign of intelligence this season, avoid playing b/c you F'N suck as grown men and are shaming your fans.
I wanna see Brunell, bring me my food next time I go to a restaraunt and have the defense sing me happy birthday afterward b/c they are not football players. Time for a new profession. Whats the special Mark??????????? |
Re: Chemistry can't be bought
Yes, it can. There's a dude on the corner selling meth.

Re: Chemistry can't be bought
they did the same crap in 1999, went to the playoffs, spent money on free agents and went 8-8. chemisty on this team was so high last year at the end and they killed it. especially on defense. somebody better do something. a leader better step up and lead by example or this team and all the high priced, over paid players we have are for nothing. its ridiculous!! the defense sat back and let Young throw where ever he wanted. to me, when you see a rookie QB you blitz your ass off, which we use to do. dont give me this crap about springs being out. if you get pressure, he wont have time to pick the secondary apart. I would rather have a DB covering for 2 to 3 seconds than 5 to 6 seconds. this D sucks!!
|
Re: Chemistry can't be bought
Yes it can. But it must be the right moves. I was praying the Redskins would get Drew Breeze. Instead they brought in a bunch of loosers.

Well put. Theres not too much to say that hasnt already been said. It was a team effort to suck that fucking bad out there today, truly. Not any one person deserves the goat but there are a few that deserve a little special recognition::soapbox: Special Teams-for the blocked punt/safety thanks assholes (props to N. Novak cuz he made it a safety instead of a TD by falling on it):goodjob: Mark Brunell-for being an old, inconsistent douchebag. I thinks it time to let the future (J. Campbell) have his shot at doing what he is supposed to do; save this TEAM. Go away Mark, and dont come back until you've decided you can play like we all know you can, shit head.:FIREdevil The Whole Defense-okay, we all know they sucked. I think one reason why the made Henry look like L.Tomlinson is because we had 2 rookies in on D-Line, Golston(who i have now lost ALL respect for) and that other fuck...cant think of his name. Way to look like a bunch of sissy little 12 year old girls there guys, way to go.:goodjob: Overall today was a pretty shitty outing. Yes, the season is over. Yes, they need to put Campbell in. Not to try to save the season as much as to train him to be good next year. I know that sounds bad but at this point, I dont know what else we could possibly do. |

Great analogy - this is like watching the meltdown of the highly touted 2000 team all over again. Ryan Clark could be doing more for this defense at about 1/3 the money we gave to Archuletta. About the only personnel move we can make to add another playmaker off the current roster is to find a way to get Rocky McIntosh on the field and see what he can do. It can't possibly be less than Holdman brings to the table, can it? |

Excellent idea!:pi_lightb I think Rocky would be great, but we all know they'll never put him in cuz they're too fucking bullheaded in general. |

Re: Chemistry can't be bought
CHEMISTRY CANNOT BE BOUGHT. I do like Vincent, however, this move shows they are still concerned and willing to pay any amount of money to get this team on track but unless that money is being sent to the league to payoff teams, refs money cannot change the fact that these guys don't mesh and don't produce on the field.
Its a little too late, if anything this signing shows that what we were initially told that the team is ready to play was an all out lie. The very reason I state that this constant change is horrible is that the team has added about 6 -8 players since training camp and is still looking for help. To have this record 2-4, be so deep in cap signings, not building through the draft, to constantly have old out dated veterans and be the laughing stock of the nation is a 15 year long tradition that is now expected from the Redskins. |

Re: Chemistry can't be bought
I think Gibbs has been trying to build a team of veterans so that the TEAM will stick around and get strong and be a type of "family". We needed another WR this year, and we got him in Randal El... I think Lloyd was insurance incase Moss got hurt. We needed another CB, but didn't get him. Our D kind of lost its face and we don't have a leader because Springs was the man and he's been out. Griffin is hurt, and Salavae.... both leaders. We tried to bring in depth incase of injuries.. so I don’t blame them for doing a lot of trading. Gibbs wanted a stronger offense and pushed his ego out of the way and brought in Saunders for the better of the TEAM. The family that Gibbs was trying to build really hasn't materialized. Do I think it's possible to build that family still? Yes, I do. Maybe next year? .... Maybe this year??????... Maybe. But Porits, Moss, Cooley, Lloyd, Randel El..our entire O line, and our D will have to stick around for it and TRUST in Saunders…. and be healthy… and even though I do believe that Brunell is capable… I know that Campbell is our future….
Ho hum. I have faith in Gibbs, but it’s taking a lot longer than these Skins fans seem to be able to handle. It’s been a long time coming for us to look like a Superbowl team, and we don’t want to wait any longer… everyone is impatient and frustrated…. I’m so sad for Gibbs, but I sure do thank him for trying so hard. |

Re: Chemistry can't be bought
If the blame starts with who's come and gone how do we know that was not Gibbs and Williams call. Snyder I feel would do what ever Gibbs ask as far as a player goes and that would double after he got us into the second game of the playoffs. So who is making the final decision of who comes and goes?

Yes, because building a "family" of overpaid veterans works so often in the NFL. Look at the Oakland Raiders, or as I like to call them, the Washington Redskins of the west coast. |

Re: Chemistry can't be bought
You can be pissed at the Skins all you want after the way they played yesterday – yell, scream, bitch and moan, but they are still the Skins and last time I checked this is a website for SKINS fans. So if you want to flat out insult them, like some Cowboy fan, then get the fuck out.

Re: Chemistry can't be bought
I do not blame Synder , if I owned this team , and were giving / paying out 50 million dollars in signing bonuses every year ,,, I would be asking Vinny and Joe ,,, when do I see a return on my F'ing investment ? If This team keeps overpaying for punks and trading draft picks away ,,, we will be the 49ers . Wasn't Vinny the genius that destroyed that once proud franchise ? Dan needs to bring in a Gm and let him make ALL personel decisions .

See... this is what happens to a "positive" fan after a loss to an obviously inferior team. I've seen several of your posts after the game this week, and the majority of them follow the same theme, "I'm so sad, we suck". So don't call me a bad fan for pointing out the obvious. Buying championships does not work! Ask Al Davis. Ask George Steinbrenner. Ask Paul Allen(Portland Trailblazers owner). Ask DANIAL SNYDER. It doesn't work because, just like the title of this thread, chemistry can't be bought. |

Re: Chemistry can't be bought
I dont understand the contradiction that is the Redskins. Gibbs is loyal to a fault to some guys, Brunell being one, Hall maybe another until now. And he always seems to want to build a close 'family' of a team and we are all together in this. But then the offseason comes and we throw more new pieces out there and wonder why its not clicking. We so desperately need a GM its not even funny.

You're responding how an ignorant homer responds to a shocking loss. And you must have me confused with someone else that "all over this board bitching" because I've posted about six times since the loss. Far less than all the "real" fans with their knee jerk reactions, screaming that Al Saunders sucks, bench Brunell, Rogers is useless, etc. So fine, continue to be a "real" fan, and talk about how great they are one week, and how much they suck the next, instead of just accepting the fact that the Washington Redskins are the same thing they've been for 10+ years. Erratic and mediocre. And for whatever reason, you like to single me out, like I'm the only one that feels that way about this team, but there's far more people than you realize with my point of view. Probably half the members of this forum at this point in the season. A lot of them don't feel the need to post their feelings, because they don't feel like dealing with this kind of crap, but I could care less, so keep it coming. |

Steinbrenner won when the majority of his good players were homegrown. Jeter, Bernie Williams, Andy Petite, etc. Since then, he's added Jason Giambi, A Rod, Clemens, Randy Johnsons, and Johnny Damon and won absolutely nothing. |
Re: Chemistry can't be bought
Thank You with the Steinbrenner reality check. He has won nothing but the division since he started going free agent crazy. Much like our beloved Skins. And what are their issues- lack of chemistry (Arod/Jeter) and aging/over the hill veterans. Sound very familiar to us.

Re: Chemistry can't be bought
Such tension! Maybe some of you should suit up.
|
Re: Chemistry can't be bought
I'm no baseball expert so I can't make an educated post on the Yankees, but correct me if I'm wrong they seem to always have the highest payroll in baseball by far. I'm sure there had to have been a few high priced free agents mixed in there at some point along the way. No?
|
Re: Chemistry can't be bought
I just saw somebody made the Stienbrenner to Snyder comparison. Sure the Yankees did. But they won their titles when they had young players brought up through their system. They havent won when they started bringing in high priced veterans they got by trading prospects. Kinda like trading draft picks for vets. Of course there are exceptions.
