Shawn Springs

Is Shawn Springs gonna practice this week...Any word on this?

Re: Shawn Springs

Yeah, I was wondering about this too. Can we PLEASE have Springs back now? This secondary gives me some serious acid reflux.

Re: Shawn Springs

I think the general vibe is that he may be out 2 or 3 more weeks. He seems to have had a fairly serious setback at some point.

Re: Shawn Springs

we might as well cut him now...it sounds like we have another Lavar on our team. Just when he could get healthy he gets injured again.

I don't think there is any comparison between Springs and LaVar

Dude you should be running this team.
I vote we fire Gibbs, and move the team to what ever town or state you live in. This guy is brilliant.

Re: Shawn Springs

lol ^

I hope we can get by these next two games without Springs. They said the groin injury was fairly minor, but he's been out for a while now and there's no sign of him coming back. Rumph and Wright aren't good backups either, especially not when they need to depend on Archuleta to give them some help. We better address our cornerback depth this offseason, whether through free agency or the draft. Springs is a good corner when healthy, but he hasn't been healthy for quite a while now, and it's past the point where we can just say, oh I think Springs will do fine, we don't need to worry about cornerback depth.

Re: Shawn Springs

our secondary sucks right now so we should cut the best cover guy we have... that's a surefire way to improve this defense.

portis missed a game too, and he hasn't rushed for 200 yards in a game yet this season, so i guess he's gotta go too. and joe gibbs lost a game, so he's obviously worthless too, right?

:P

After we cut Springs and Rogers, I'd like to see us resign Martin Mayhew and possibly Alvin Walton to help bolster our secondary.

Dont we have a BYE after the Giants game? best thing to do would be sit Springs out this week and let him recover uninteruppted for two.

yes our secondary is a mess right now, but better having Springs at 100% later then him having another setback for rushing back now.

No, we play the Titans then go to Indy then a bye.

Yeah, three weeks after the Giants game (Week 8). The perfect week to have run for a second half run of the table.

Cut Springs? You're nuts. The surgery was supposed to be a FIX, not a bandaid. That's why they did it. With time he'll get fully healthy again. Once he's good to go he's the best corner in the league. We would be fools to trade him.

In all likelihood, the secondary will get torched by the Giants, yet again. I just hope our offense can put up some points to keep us in the game.

Gibbs and Williams are fully aware that the Giants will try to do JUST that. So the game plan will be set up to not allow it. Let's hope it works.

Well, the best game plan would be to run a ball control - run first - dink and dump pass - clock eating offense and keep Manning off the field. I can't see us win a shootout at the Meadowlands, though if we did, it'd rock!

To your point, hopefully, the return of Salave'a will bolster the pass rush and get some pressure on Manning. Hit Shockey and Plax (both playing with injuries) early and often.

The Giants are 29th in the league in pass D, I would expect we'll look to exploit them there.

You are absolutely right! Who needs this guy with the way our secondary has played of late. But it shouldn't stop there. Sean Taylor should be the next to go, then we'd be set. He's way too physical and is always making plays.

LMAO ... Let's cut Moss too. He celebrates too much in the endzone.

The entire franchise has been too profitable as of late. Snyder should disband it completely and we should all burn anything that has anything to do with the Skins, just to be fair to the rest of the league.

they gave up:
28 to the iggles (super pass heavy)
42 to the seahawks (pass happy)

so... I like our chancess.

Re: Shawn Springs

I think SS is a great player but the one thing I question about him is his heart. If you see your team struggling (which is what the secondary is doing) than you do you best to get back, portis did it and Randy Thomas played the game against the jags with a hamstring injury, it was bad enough that he couldnt pull so they had to run plays where he didnt, but he was in there to get the job done. Gibbs and Co. want players that are team players and that will sacrifice for the team. Apparently he is not one of them, I am not advocating cutting him, he is a great player, but in the off season we need to look for a replacement since he is never healthy and Rogers is not a #1.

Re: Shawn Springs

Stack, you can't be serious. Springs is absolutely a team player. Heart? He re-injured the dang thing trying to come back early. So no, I wouldn't question his heart. In fact, I think Springs is one of the cornerstones (no pun intended) of the team. This is an injury if you're not 100%, no questions asked, you'll be back on IR quick. Ask Donovan McNabb.

Have you ever pulled a groin? The man had his reattached!!! That is no simple thing to recover from.... He tried to come back early and strained it again. He has a TON of heart. You should be ashamed of yourself for thinking differently

I don't know where to start with this one...Springs will hurt the team more if he suits up and isn't 100%...he is...I can't even get out all my thoughts, I'm too pissed to make any since...I don't believe what I've just read...

Re: Shawn Springs

Are you kidding? Look at the facts Springs has only played 3 full seasons in his 10 year NFL career, he is constantly hurt. Champ who is considered one of the elite CBs in the league didnt miss a game for his first 6 seasons, he missed two last year, but has not missed one this year. We knew this when we got springs, there are players who play and there are players who sit on the sidelines. He is a premier CB when he is on the field, but unfortunatley he is not on the field all the time.

Has Rodgers really stepped it up? Had to listen to the game on the radio until they the last three minutes.

That is becuase he never had the surgery to fix it. He kept tring to let it heal and then play again. He finally had the surgery. Once he is healthy thigns should stay that way for him.

I don't think so. He made a few good tackles, but got beat a lot.

Re: Shawn Springs

No doubt we need help in the secondary. Rogers has to step up his play, and we have to keep getting a better pass rush on. If Carter and Co. can put some pressure on the QB, that will certainly help our secondary until Springs is back.
