what chapter was THAT in his vaunted play bible?

the gameplan for Jax was a drastic departure of the one drawn up for the Texans. besides sticking with the run, this offense really attacked the corners in this game, and not just the linebackers and safeties from the Texans.

Were the Texans corners that much better than Jax's or did Al just pull out his most conservative chapter last week to get that much needed first win of the season?

from the beginning there were crazy trick plays, shots over the top and big rollouts. i think Al must comes up with a new offensive identity (still based on the run) every week.

I guess that 700 page playbook is getting some use! Wow! It was different than against the Texans, but the run game still was the basis for creating room for the pass game. Nice job by Al Saunders and his staff!

Like I said last week when everyone was complaing about why we weren't going downfield more and weren't opening up the offense more - Saunders wasn't about to show his best stuff against the Texans... :)

Where the heck is Southpaw... I have tons of crow waiting for him!!

Saunders is a brilliant playcaller and offensive strategist. It was only a matter of time before things started clicking. Having a healthy Portis makes a huge difference too.

i'd be a VERY confused coach next week trying to gameplan against our offense. you're right the key will always remain Portis, but if Jacksonville couldn't stop him...

as if Coughlin wasn't confused enough already.

yeah, I hope we can run down their throats as well. They've only really been playing about a quarter a game... even in their wins. Seattle smoked them and let up at the end. We HAVE to put them to bed quick... I don't want this one going down to the wire...

Ive been saying the same thing all season. Portis really makes the offense click. Portis makes Betts more effective as well as making the pass game more effective. I also feel from a mental stand point when Portis went out the whole team was down. Just having Portis back I see the offense looks more focused and fired up to play. Saunders called the game well also. We need to continue our progress on both sides of the ball next week, we owe the Giants for that 36-0 embarrasment last year at the Meadowlands.

I would have to say no, the run game is finding its way to work even for Betts, and the passing game continues to emerge more and more threatning.
Heading into New York i am excited to see how we put pressure on their defense

Osi and Strahan are the fierciest pass rushers in the league. they can catch ol' Brunell on those rollouts.

my newly refreshed man-love for Santana aside, i hope we don't have to pass so much in this game and instead keep hitting him in the mouth with Sellers and that awesome Samuels/Dock train Portis rode up the middle last night.

nothing would make me happier than brusing up AP with Sellers. unlike Lavar who really wanted to stay, AP turned his back on the team that made him somebody. AND he totally gave up our entire playbook and field calls the week before the 36-0 blowout. thats a traitor right there.

In the so called ranking system in the NFL Offensive rankings:
1.Eagles
2.Giants
3.Washington

But defensively we are ranked 15.
That is sad BUT I cant imagine them playing any worst defensively so it would seem they will improve and break the top 10 in a month and more. Offensively I think those numbers will move up as well as a result and especially b/c we will see both 1/2 twice.

I just hope this team doesnt become the Chiefs all Offense and a Vaginal defense. I think the second half of the schedule is when the teams we play have a stronger arsenal of Offense that we will some how have to overcome.

NY,Tenn,Colts,Bye,Dallas,Phil,TB,Caro,TB,Phil,NO,STL,NY
This schedule seems less intimidating as long as we keep winning actually its spread out pretty good except for the 6 week span from Dallas til Phil that seem exhausting.

Pish-Posh and Papicok. I think your right we cant plan to roll away if they are on both sides and with Pierce in the middle but NY has so many gaps beyond the line of scrimmage, I would expect us to capitalize every time they sent a blitz. O-Line is really playing well and NY has probably the best and deepest depth in the NFL on their D-Line. Should be a great challenge for us. But how could they cover our guys???????????

shut your mouth that's Gregg Williams you're talking about! our Dline and linebackers are slowly getting back to last year's aggresive form.

our secondary indeed is in complete disarray not only because we're without our key defensive player Springs, but because we lost a key group of stalwarts Harris, Clark and Prioleau to injury. it was the one avenue Jacksonville had against us - and also what the Giants will focus on.

yeah the same was said about Jacksonville's Dline, but unlike them the Giants have actually proven they can rush the passer.

i don't see the amazing set ups and time Brunell had this last game. i can see us using the short quick pass air game we used vs. the Texans with the occasional playaction downfield strike, but ONLY if Portis is racking up the yards.

I don't know if this example will work, but ... Saunders' playcalling reminded me of playing the Cowboys or the 49ers -- back when they were good, in the early 90's -- on the old Tecmo Super Bowl Nintendo/Sega game systems.

I only use that example because I have yet to play Madden ... anyway, I always chose the Redskins (naturally) and when playing defense, you were honestly knocked on your heels when playing those two teams. You just didn't know who to defend: Double team Irvin? Aikman would make you pay with Harper and Novacek. Or, it's 3rd and 3, do you line up in the nickel to play pass, or get burned on a draw by Emmitt Smith? With the Niners, you had to pick your poison -- Would you try to blanket Jerry Rice, John Taylor and Brent Jones? If so, you had to deal with Roger Craig and Tom Rathman running all over you.

I believe it's shaping up to be exactly the same in real life with the Washington Redskins. If we can get solid consistent play from the O-line, Portis, Moss, Cooley, Randle El, and Lloyd will have D-coordinators sweating in the booth not knowing what the hell they're going to do.

That question haunts me....It seems like Joe gibbs called some of those plays last week...I saw a couple of counter trays and pull traps.........

for as much shit as Saunders and the boys have taken from the folks around here, the play calling yesterday was brilliant. the execution was almost as good

Saunders seems to have blended the two offenses pretty well. He can power run, finesse run and beat you with passes short, medium, and long. This team will put up some points, now.

the flea flicker was a terrible call (it dies if there's any push in the middle), but beyond that, i'd say that we're getting what we're paying him for. #3 offense after two terrible weeks to start the season is pretty impressive. 500 yards on the #3 defense is crazy.
