Springs injures groin in practice

Well this is just FREAKIN GREAT.....Redskins Radio just reported Springs sprained his groin today in practice, just below his incision. The team was planning on getting him on the field on Sunday, now, nope. Lovely.

Ugh. Groin and Incision in the same sentence. <<shudder>>

Re: Springs injures groin in practice

Im really really worried about the secondary THIS SUNDAY. Andre Johnson has the potential to be a bad ass. Eric Moulds is their No.2 receiver. The Skins could get burnt in the secondary badly, especially with Archuletta back there.

Well, at least Rogers gets more #1 cover experience.

Re: Springs injures groin in practice

no excuses...the back's against the wall, they have a TERRIBLE oline, which is actually missing players, and Portis is back. If we lose this game...its over, Springs or no. A contender HAS to win games like these, even without one of its better players. As long as someone can convince Saunders that Moss is a wide receiver and Ladell Betts is not a future hall of famer, we should be fine.

Here's the linkage

Doesn't sound too serious, let's hope it isn't.

When the injury bug bites a team its hard to get rid of it. SS wont be 100% this year so the guys playing now better step it up big time.

how about it? how about the guys that have to play start earning a paycheck and realize this is their dream. a chance to start in the nfl. isnt that what its all about?( no, not the hokey pokey)

I LOVE THAT ANALYSIS!!!!! LOL

Question is Phillip Buchannon still playing for the Texans or did he go ahead and retire....? Because if not...we should pick him up...he is a veteran and he is still very good...BUT HE DOESENT MAKE THE DEFENSE!

Damn thats crazy, Well this is just FREAKIN GREAT was the first thing that came to my mind. We have to build CB depth in the coming draft and get back on track with the DGreen, CBailey, FSmoots.

Re: Springs injures groin in practice

IMO, Rumph improved from week 1 to week 2. I think we will be fine with our DBs this week. I never thought Springs should play this week anyways so this just gives him one more week to get completely healthy.

And we are just getting all of our injuries out of the way and come December, we will be fresh and ready for the patented Joe Gibbs December push for the playoffs. Lets just hope that its not too late...:towel: :towel: :towel: :httr:

Gibbs says it was just soreness from not being in work, but that it wasn't serious.

Can someone translate the Phillip Buchanon and Mario Williams posts to me.

Does the Warpath have a happy hour night?

he's implying that Mario Williams should injure Brunell...I'm assuming this can only mean he thinks Todd Collins should be starting! hahaha

when it rains it pours. kenny wright and mike rumph together cant make one shawn springs. Where the hell is walt harris? The secondary is the cause of all of the defensive woes. Sean Taylor cant make every play and honestly thats all we have in the secondary. Archeleta, rumph, wright, and rogers arent playing very well and until they step up the d will continue to suck.

Rogers is looking good, but not shut down quality yet. Rumph is improving. I actually miss W. Harris too, he's better than wright.

We should not have to rely on the blitz on every play to put some presure on the QB but thats what it comes down to. Giving any QB the time we are giving they are going to find an open WR. So ther as much of the problem as our CB's. If our D relies that much on one player than that a problem. Others have to step up when one goes down. All teams loss players its how they respond which seperates the good teams from the bad.

Re: Springs injures groin in practice

Walt Harris had 4 tackles and 1 Pass Defended the first 2 games with Redskins in 2004.

Mike Rumph has 6 tackles and 1 Pass Defended his first two games with the Redskins.

Kenny Wright has 4 tackles and 0 Passes Defended.

I don't see such a tremendous loss so far. Not sure about what, if any, penalties Harris had though. Wright has made a couple of major ones. Harris' first year wasn't all that spectacular, though: 17 tackles, 2 INT's.

Re: Springs injures groin in practice

Is it too late to make a trade for a CB? There must be some quality in the league tha could be an upgrade for us, Springs is always hurt, and we have a stock pile of both WRs and RBs.

Maybe you should rethink this one...why do they have tackles? thats because there man is catching the ball. As far is Rumph...lets see if San Fran gave up on him what really does that say about him? 49ers are awful and they dont want him. And Wright...if you ask me he was exposed in preseason game 1. You cant blitz they way Williams wants to without corners who know how to cover. And with Harris being penalty prone...no more penalties than i have seen rogers get thus far this season

Re: Springs injures groin in practice

ahem...Walt Harris sucks.

(I might have pulled my groin - it's been awhile since I've had to do that!)

Springs is playing - that's my bet. Anytime a player misses more than a down or two of practice, they have to report something. From the report Matty linked, it sounds like he just tweaked it.

If you hadn't made it to ESPN.com or Redskins.com then you would know that he isn't playing.

If I "hadn't made it to ESPN.com"? What are you talking about? Did you mean "if I had made it to ESPN"? Plus, he's still listed as questionable on both sites. You don't make sense...

That said, I should have been clearer - what I was trying to say is that my bet is that the groin injury doesn't keep him out. If the recovery from the abdominal surgery keeps him out, well, that's not a "new" reason to panic.

Re: Springs injures groin in practice

thats no good. Why the hell was he even practicing to begin with. Havent we learned about rushing players back? Remember Lavar practicing on the wet field and reinjuring the knee...CP playing against the vikes and tweaking that shoulder again which wont be 100% until next season. now springs tweaks his groin. Damn it...is there a black cloud over redskin park?

I'm only comparing Harris' first two games with the Reskins versus Rumph and Wrights first two games. Harris didn't come in immediately and make a huge splash, neither has Rumph and Wright. It takes time to adapt and Greg Williams has shown a special knack for getting better performance out of "castoffs". One of the two will emerge as a decent CB midway through the season.

That's not necessarily true. Suppose they made the tackle on a receiver that was someone else's man? Maybe it was a running play?
