This was announced before the first preseason game.

Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
Campbell deserves it.

uuhhhh...crap |
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
I don't think he's been promoted, he's just taking his turn in the rotation.
|
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
CPayne, as always, is right, this was the plan all along
|
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
I doubt it's going to turn back though...
|
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
I agree Brud, I think he'll take this chance to postion himself as the number 2 guy.
|
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
anyone who watched the other night knows collins does his best work holding a clip board while picking his nose
|
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
dmek, you're on roll today - what you have for lunch?
I think if Campbell marginally improves on this week's performance he'll be number two by 9/11 |
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
Personally, I don't want to see Collins under center ever again. With JG telling Jason Campbell what he did at the end of last season, I was under the impression we were going to see Jason, and more Jason when this pre-season started. All Jason needs is some more work to get comfortable, and that will enhance his confidence. Hopefully, he is our future, Collins has no future here at all, so why take opportunities away from the player we should be grooming for the future? Jason should get all the snaps behind Brunell, and if for any reason Brunell goes down during the season, the team should go to Campbell.

What would some of us do without you Matty'? |

I completely agree. The "he knows the offense" argument only works if he also knows how to walk and chew bubble gum without tossing passes to D linemen (which he does not). Why not just have Al Saunders play QB if that's all it takes. Campbell is my man for the money. What pretty passes. |
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
If he can't beat Collins out for the number two spot then I'll say 'WASTED PICK'.

I think if Campbell marginally improves on this week's performance he'll be number two by 9/11
Keep in mind that how Collins performs during the final 3 preseason games is a major factor in this equation as well. Given that Skins fans are only really happy when there is some kind of QB controversy.... JC did demonstrate in Cincy that he has the potential to be McNabb with a stronger arm and a better head. He clearly has the best arm of the three QBs. If he continues to show some real growth during these next three games, there could be some very interesting discussions on this board. |
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
Ok, I'll be the one to start it here, who is our 4th QB? Casey Bramlet? Does he ever get to see any action? From his Bio he was pretty good out of Wyoming and played NFL Europe last year. Is he fodder or a player? Will we ever know? Collins was SOOOOOO bad that Bramet should get a shot in the 4th QR of one of these games.

collins is better than bramlet |
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
i have a greaaat idea.....Randel el is the 3rd stringer and we cut collins.........
|
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
Campell deserves number 2 especially given his performance of late.
He was cool under pressure on Sunday and he looked real sharp at the scrimmage. Brunell will need a couple of breathers this year, time to give the kid a shot. Collins hasn't played in 3 years. Nuff said. |

 That explains why nobody want's to catch his passes. |
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
I would like to see the coaching staff give JC some reps with the 1st string, then we could see what he can really do with decent pass protection and recievers that can get open. It would also be good for him to go against a 1st string opposing defense in case he gets in a game this season. I say sit brunell since we know what he can do and it would keep him healthy. Let the kid learn some real football.
|
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
ok, let's have some long ball with the second unit with JC at helm
|
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
yeah keep only brunnel and JC and let's have randle el the emergency QB
so that we can keep an extra db in the roster way to go |
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
yup yup, campbell started the scrimmage so that is why collins started last week.
Collins will be our number two, its just a name. I don't really believe if brunell went down, they would put in collins the next game. |

That's a great idea. save us the roster spot once camp is over. reminds me of when i thought Brian Mitchell should've been our 3rd QB...:) |
Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
This might be Jason's year. I doubt Brunnel will remain healthy all year. I hope Jason Campbell will make it very hard for Gibbs to go back to Brunnel.

Re: Jason Campbell to be #2 QB
I wonder if Collins could be named a coach so that he's technically still on our team and can offer his input from the sidelines

His job title could be "Assistant QB Development Advisor to Jason Campbell", meaning basically "study partner". Even Todd himself has to know he won't see the field in the regular season and if he DOES, it won't be pretty. |
