The Zidane Incident
Even if you didn't watch the world cup final you probably heard or read about the soon to be "infamous headbutting." Seems to me that that Italian fella must have said something downright nasty that rewired Zidane brain. I wonder what he said?
p.s. Also notice how the Italian is pinching his nipple as they walk back. WTF? |
Re: The Zidane Incident
That's an AWESOME headbutt. DAMN, I wish I could do it like that.
|
Re: The Zidane Incident
Yeah, I'm thinking it was something about his mother, his country...or the fact that he's nearing the end of his World Cup career. One helluva head butt, though.
|
Re: The Zidane Incident
And it wasn't even in the other guy's head! The only time I've seen someone go down from a headbutt is when they get hit IN THE HEAD. That's insane.
|
Re: The Zidane Incident
Insane - Zidane!!
|
Re: The Zidane Incident
you've got to remember, this guy is paid to headbutt the ball with as much force as possible. The man knows how to use his dome as a weapon.
|
Re: The Zidane Incident
P.S. I just read that Zidane won the fan vote for best player in the World Cup. I find that funny.
|
Re: The Zidane Incident
Soccer is for pussies.
That was a flop all the way. |
Re: The Zidane Incident
the best play of the entire world cup.... killer headbutt from straight out of nowhere... he probably lost it for his team, but whatever.
|
Re: The Zidane Incident
i found the pic this morning, and it's now my wallpaper (check out flickr.com and do a search on zidane headbutt). here is the Lego interpretation:
Materazzi must have said something dirty to Zizou...however, it's a dirty move to provoke such a reaction, so I don't feel bad for him. And, I don't think it cost the French as much as them subbing out Henry for Trezeguet. |
Re: The Zidane Incident
That must have been a hard head bunt but the italian was selling it.
|
Re: The Zidane Incident
materazzi (the italian) called zidane a terrorist. zidane was born in france, but his parents are algerian.
|
materazzi (the italian) called zidane a terrorist. zidane was born in france, but his parents are algerian.
Thats what I was thinking. I know for a fact that Zidane is Muslim, so it wouldn't surprise me if something like that was said. |

That would make sense. Do you have a link to confirm? Schneed - :thumb: |
Re: The Zidane Incident
WOW...soccer had an interesting moment for once!
It was the only one though...even with the little kicking contest to decide the championship. I'm glad the NFL doesn't decide the Super Bowl on a field goal kicking contest, or we'll be in trouble with John Hall. Oh well, France loses something else...the world is still normal. |

Did he say "I just saw your momma in the locker room and she asked me to tell you to headbutt me in the chest!" No words should make someone do THAT. He's just another childish Frenchman who's sick of France losing in EVERYRTHING. |
Re: The Zidane Incident
I like how alot of people I know when asked say they are intrested in the Worold Cup but when you ask them if they have watched any matches they say "NO".Went fishing with a friends son yesterday and he was saying how big of a soccer fan he was and I asked him why he wasn't home watching the biggest soccer event of the next couple of years. He did not realy have an answer.

Well the fact that he fought back proves he isn't totally French. Had he been 100% French he would have called Bruce Arena out to give him a hand and save his ass then turned around and bad mouthed Arena to all the other players. |

you take kids fishing a lot? j/k That kind of thing makes no sense. |
Re: The Zidane Incident
I think what he meant is the fact that rather than people say "F...Soccer" we actually don't go to the shitter when the scores come on ESPN.
Remember kids, there's different LEVELS of interest. ;) |

I know you said son, I was making a joke that the friend's son was a kid. So, if your friend's son=a kid and you took your friend's friend's son fishing, by that logic you took a kid fishing. I didn't mean to offend. |

Re: The Zidane Incident
Sounds like something big happened in soccer. I've tried to get interested in soccer, but i don't find it that entertaining. I watched a couple D.C. United games this year, but that was it. How should i sum a soccer match up, well, it's like, anyone seen that clip where homer takes his kids to a soccer game because he saw an ad on t.v. that said this match will decide once and for all who the best nation on earth is, and then when he gets there, it's just like, blargh lol. And i know real soccer isn't like that either, just so you know.

Actualy I took several of them out. Their home from college and have been out flounder fishing 5 to 6 times and had not caught a single flounder. I took them out and they had their limits in about 4 hours and we came home with 30 flounder from about 17 to 24 inches.

Re: The Zidane Incident
Do you have to pay per pound to keep them at all? When I was in Hawaii we had to pay a fee to keep some of them.

Re: The Zidane Incident
International sports are interesting. Countries like France, Brazil, Argentina Germany, and Italy put all of their athletes into one sport, Soccer. There's a some basketball going on there too, but mostly it's soccer. So it's no wonder their teams are so good at it.
Then if you go to Cuba, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic, baseball is pretty much the only game in town. And of course they're great at it. And then there's Kenya, and pretty much all they do is run marathons. So no wonder they always win the Boston Marathon. Here in the States we have baseball, football, basketball, golf, soccer, swimming, track & field, hockey, and a whole slew of other sports. All of our athletes spread out into different sports. So internationally, the US teams always seem disappointing because we can't match up with the countries who breed only soccer players (France), or who breed only baseball players (Cuba), or who breed only Hockey players (Canada). You see our record in international play and it's easy to start to think, "hey, the US sucks at sports." But if we put all our athletes into one or two sports, we'd DOMINATE. If you want to look at the US dominance in sports in a fair manner, take a look at the Olympic medal count each year. We're always at the top, especially in the summer games. Imagine if football were an international sport? Team USA: QB Peyton Manning, Tom Brady RB LaDainian Tomlinson, Shawn Alexander WR Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, Steve Smith, Marvin Harrison, Santana Moss, Terrell Owens TE Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez, Alge Crumpler OT Walter Jones, Orlando Pace, Chris Samuels, Willie Roaf OG Will Shields, Steve Hutchinson, Randy Thomas, Alan Fanaca C Olin Kreutz, Jeff Saturday We'd pwn everybody. It'd be ridiculous. We have so many of our nation's best athletes in the NFL, a sport which no other countries really play. We're still the dominant sports nation. It's just we're the jack of all trades, and masters at only a few. |
Re: The Zidane Incident
only thing is that most of the nfl athletes wouldn't even play and represent there country it would be worst than the nba.

I mean, the US NBA team is no longer dominant in the world stage. |

Right that's my point. We'd dominate American football right now, because no other countries play American football. We used to dominate basketball, until other countries started playing and focusing on that as the only national sport. If other countries played American football and that's all they played, they'd kill us. Right now, countries like Argentina can line up and whip our ass in Basketball and Soccer. For good reason, those are pretty much the only sports they play. We play tons of sports, our kids go into all kinds of other things. They may be able to beat us in those two, but line Argentina up against us in Football, Hockey, Swimming, Golf, Tennis, Track & Field, or Bowling and we'd kick their ass. If their kids started getting into football, hockey, swimming, golf, tennis, and track & field, their talent in Soccer and Basketball would dwindle. Then it would probably be a pretty even match in all sports. It all depends on which sport your kids get funneled into. |

That's pretty cool. I'd like to do some deep sea fishing this summer, but not on one of those stupid mass charter boats where you just drop in a line for some seabass. Next summer I'm going down to the west coast of FL with my family and hopefully we'll do some real fishing. |
Re: The Zidane Incident
by the way, soccer is so boring that fishing is a much more fun topic.
