Best and Worst Customer Service
What company/entity do you feel has the best or worst customer service?
Kudos to Bank of America. I can't say enough good things about them. A big F*** You goes to any and all government agencies. The INS and IRS in particular. |
Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
Nordstrom. Worked there for about 2 years - never could afford to shop there, but their customer service is basically the best of any company in existence. They will bend over backwards for virtually ANY request - they'll actually screw themselves over financially for the sake of making a customer happy. Of course they make up for it with the super high prices, but still...

A couple of weeks ago I called them b/c no money came out of an ATM and I was worried that it they took the amount out of my account anyways. I was on the phone for about 3 minutes with a real person on a Saturday morning. Turned out I punched in the wrong PIN like 3 times b/c I was drunk at a bar. The Post Office sucks balls too. |

I love Allstate Insurance. I've had one auto claim and one homeowner's claim with them, and they've been prompt, friendly, accurate, and most of all, they were great communicators throughout the whole process. They called me whenever there were updates to my claim status and they took the time to explain everything to me so I knew exactly what was going on. I also broke down over Thanksgiving weekend this year, and their roadside assistance arrived exactly when they said it would. That's pretty impressive considering how much traffic you see on Thanksgiving. Worst? PennDOT is way up there for me (DOTs for all states are probably the same). The receptionists at my doctor's office are pretty unhelpful too - they give that wonderful attitude that seems to say that my business is a nuisance to them. |

The Post Office sucks balls too.
The post office can suck MY balls. I HATE that place. Them and any DMV/MVA - the gross incompetence and utter lack of cocern for anything but a long lunch break ranks those two at the top of my list. Both organizations could disappear in a fiery blaze and I wouldn't shed a damn tear. |

Their web-tracking sucks because it never seems to be updated, and when it is none of the info is useful anyways. And don't ever attempt to call them b/c it's just some automated message that probably won't help either. |
Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
I was a mangager at Nordy's for a few years - unparalled. Plain and simple.
Worst - I would have to go with Citibank...I hate calling the 800 numbers. You always get someone in India on some three second time delay. And usually they try to refer you to a branch location to assist you. The only problem with that is when you call them it's usually midnight here (if you're at a bar and your card is repeatedly getting denied because you drink too much) and it's the middle of the day there. Stinks!!! |
Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
Worst customer service - At Wendy's.
I don't know what it is, but it seems like each manager at Wendy's somehow manages to find the most ignorant, retarded inbreds this side of West Virginia to work for them. Best customer service - Sprint Not that they are particularly friendly, you can just make threats and they'll give you anything you want. |
Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
The Post Office definitely sucks big time.
I've been selling off my CD collection on Amazon, so I've been a frequent visitor to the Post Office the last few months. I have an office on my way home from work that closes at 5. I usually get there by 4:45 and I make sure to not have more than 5 packages so I don't hold things up. I've had the clerk sigh out loud when I put my packages on the counter, and the entire time this jerk kept looking at the clock, and mumbling as people came through the door. At one point he turned to the woman working next to him and said, "Why are we so damn busy today?". As far as good experiences go, DirecTV seems to have their shit together. |

Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
PFCU is pretty good... good % rates, open 7 days a week, working online banking before the other guys.

Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
Best - Microsoft Xbox
Worst - Wachovia M$soft - their online service support team is second to none. I had some issues with my new x360 and within 4 days had a new one. They did me right so I think they are the best. I have Bank of America as well and they were a close second. Wachovia - screw those idiots. I had a student loan with them and paid it off several years ago. Went to apply for mortgage and they showed the loan in default...took 30 days to get it cleared up...fucking idiots. |
Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
Best - Hampton Inn hotels. 100% guarantee, if you have ANY problems, you get the night for free. They're not stingy with the comp nights either and will go out of their way to make you happy before you complain.
Worst - AOL. I wasn't even a customer and they were charging me for 4 months because my wife put a "free hours" cd in the computer for about 5 minutes just to check it out. She uninstalled it and never logged on again but they felt justified in taking 100 bucks from me and refusing to cancel the account I never signed up for. Keep those cds away from your computer! Also, their employees are all Indians who can't speak OR understand English. On my 4th call to cancel and get my money back, I just started out the call by DEMANDING an English-speaking supervisor who finally closed the account and refunded me. AOL is a tool of Satan. |
Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
I've had good experiences with ING Direct - they all speak English as a native language, friendly, helpful, quick, and I think you pretty much always get a person not a machine.

I guess you have to enter it to install it. Ask my wife. :D Still, she cancelled the account and uninstalled the software and they kept charging. Also, it shouldn't take HOURS on the phone to do such a simple thing as a refund. |
Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
Good:
Clyde's Restaurants in the D.C. area (and those owned by Clyde's group-Old Ebbit, 1789, Tombs...). They bend over backwards and give out all kinds of free stuff if anything goes wrong. Apple does agreat job too. Fast return of product after repairs and good phone support. Bad: Gateway. Man, they screwed me over a few times on the phone and losing my hard drive when they were repairing the power input. |

Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
I've had some battles with Nextel too. When I moved from MA to NY I tried over and over to get them to change my plan from MA to NY to no avail. I finally said look, cancel my service this is ridiculous I've been trying to change my plan for 6 months now. They tried to hit me with a $200 cancellation fee and I just about lost it. I think they sensed I wasn't very happy so they ended up waiving the fee.

Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
thats not necessarily true about class action lawsuits. although mine was handled by the new york attorney generals office as part of an on going investigation. i did nothing but fill out a questionaire and got a check 6 weeks later for 2800.00

BofA is awesome!
The worst is anycompany that outsourced their work to a foreign country. God damn 3com... |
Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
You praise BoA then they go and do an evil thing. I have nothing against Indians but I'll certainly be a grumpy customer if I get an India calling himself Johny on the phone.

Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
Man that is evil :(
|
Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
This outsourcing will eventually catch up with us. BofA apparently saved $100 million by outsourcing, but I've got to believe that eventually all this outsourcing is going to severaly damage the economy.
|
Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
eventually if you outsource too many jobs, the demand for workers outpaces supply in the target country, so wages and land values start to raise and you're either saving less than you thought you would, or you're moving to an even cheaper country (like romania).
as for our economy, no, it doesn't hurt it horribly except for all the unemployed outsourcing creates... for everyone else there are cheaper prices. the paradigm shift wouldn't occur until unemployment becomes much much worse. most factory work already disappeared and now a substantial amount of tech work is going (but a smaller % of the tech population than that of the steel workers etc). It does creat other jobs (management etc), though not as many as it replaces. If people weren't so concerned with saving money (businesses and consumers both) than outourcing wouldn't exist. however, as i'm sure you can count the number of people you know that burn money on one hand, globalization is inevitable. |
Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
Worst customer service-Popeye's. I went to a Popeye's once in Tenleytown in Washington, DC. Had a craving for some fried chicken. So I'm sitting there having lunch. And suddenly I feel my shoes are a bit wet. So I look down and there's this massive puddle of water all around me. I look across the restaurant and notice that it's coming from the restrooms. So I get up and walk over to the manager "Hey, listen the whole back area is flooding with water" Manager's response "Yeah we know, there's an toilet overflowing" my reply "Do you plan on doing anything about it? Cleaning it? Roping off that section?" Manager: "Nah, we'll take care of it later" I walked right out of there, never to return.

Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
i don't know about best customer service, but for worst, I'd say Comcast or Verizon. I've had both as internet providers, and each one sucks. My internet was down for a couple days a few months ago, and i had to call comcast to get it hooked back up, and i did. I spent like half an hour waiting, and when they did pick up, they kept transferring me to a section of the company, and to a different person and so on, it took me a while to get my net back up, and i was pissed at the end.

Ironically, tonight's poignant Simpsons episode is all about outsourcing, when Homer has to go and train the new power plant employees in India. Hilarity ensues. |
Re: Best and Worst Customer Service
Comcast has sucked for My family so far. My mom got it all set up a whole month ago and we STILL DON"T HAVE HIGHSPEED INTERNET, because each time something else is wrong. I've talked to at least 3 people myself for several hours and each time they say something different....... and most of it is some crazy bullshit like " we have to wait to get all the paper work" or "we have to send a request to the local comcast" or blah blah blah.

My dad, not a Simpsons fan, started watching that episode during the "Apocolypse Now" scene and was cracking up. But, then the show ended with that song and dance number and he got pissed. The last time I saw him that upset was when the Skins lost the season opener to the big d-bags in OT a few years ago. The IT people at my work are terrible when it comes to customer service. They are seriously like the old Jimmy Fallon character on SNL. They act like you're an idiot for calling with a question. It's always a joy to have a computer problem around here. |

I just meant the IT help within the office. We do nothing of value for anyone, at least not that I know of. When I used to work at the mall back in college I think I was pretty good at the old customer service. i once kicked in the fitting room door because the lock got jammed and a woman was stuck in it. It was my lunch break and everything. |
