Mock Draft Commentary
Post your reasoning for your selections in this thread.

Re: Mock Draft Commentary
As the representative for both the Titans and the Browns, I made the trade to the Titans as the Browns for the number three pick in the draft. I selected DeAngelo Williams to give (who I feel will be the best back in the draft) the Browns a great skill player at each position.
As the Titans I will be taking the Browns spot at #12 and will also be taking a sescond round selection. |
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
Reggie was a no brainer. I do think the team will be better off with D'Brickashaw, but only slightly. What the Texans couldn't physically do with great pass blocking, can be done with play action if the back commands respect. Reggie is the one of 2 players in the draft that commands this type of respect. A trade down was not possible.

Re: Mock Draft Commentary
Right, I just really don't see Bush being the elite back he is being billed as. I just look at his entire team and they were basically all-stars (hence my reasoning behind taking DW). DW played on a no-name team and put up HUGE numbers. I was also considering Maroney. I don't think that Droughns is the answer for the Browns.

Re: Mock Draft Commentary
Dammit. Starting now? ;)
|
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
lol. if you've sent out PM's with trade offers, just send me a PM with the player you would take and if no one accepts the trade by a certain time, I'll have you make the pick.

LEINART Norm Chow as OC makes this pick a no brainer.
I wouldn't say it's a no brainer, because their is rampant report that even with Leinart available, the Titans want Vince Young. But Leinart is the better QB, so why wouldn't you take him! |

Re: Mock Draft Commentary
I wanted to trade with the jets, but they wouldn't budge. so i took the best player available after bush, which is mario williams. a franchise DE of his caliber is simply rare, and that should help fill a glaring hole in their defense.

Re: Mock Draft Commentary
hey im the titans. am i too late?
|
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
shit! i missed it! I was going to take Leinhert if he was there anyways, with the Mcnair situation and all. I thought he'd go # 2 for sure.
So how are we doing this? is there a time limit. Can I get my team back? How many rounds are we going? I am full of questions. |
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
i'd like to go 7 rounds, but that'd only work if people want to actually do some in depth research.
|
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
The Jets elect to take a safe pick and go with a franchise left tackle, D'Brickashaw Ferguson.
GM Matty K was hoping to see Matt Leinart fall to him at #4, and even though Vince Young is a very attractive prospect and the kind of name that will put butts in the seats in Giants Stadium, the lure of plugging in a young building block like Ferguson was just too great. The Jets aren't completely satisfied with their QB situation, but with Pennington and Ramsey they feel comfortable enough to either take a QB later in the draft or address it in the near future. |
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
matty i thought you wouldnt be home to around 8:00?i wanted that pick ,damn it
|
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
is it posted anywhere the picks that each team has?if, where
|
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
also, can i trade my number one for next year?

Thats why he was fired. Luckily I was contacted in time to prevent another Herschel Walker senario. |
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
also, can i trade my number one for next year?
If you can find a trade partner (not yourself). |

I haven't heard from the guy who has the chargers in a few days. If not him, maybe you can take the bucs or someone because pwned has two teams. |
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
gtripp i have 2 teams also and would be willing to give up the colts to 81forhall.let me know if it works
|
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
I'm hoping to get 81forHall a team, but I got two guys who haven't really been on since signing up, so I may just give him one of those teams. I'll consider all options.

Re: Mock Draft Commentary
Let's be honest. The Pack has holes. Lots of 'em. They need help on both lines. Impact players in the back 7 on D and their money players are either old or coming off of injury. This is a team destined to win no more than 6 games next year no matter what.
A couple trade options were passed on because the Pack is looking for impact and the offers would have given quantity over quality. Not a good ingredient when trying to get some immediate impact. Hawk offers a polished LB with speed and good tackling skills. What he lacks in smarts he makes up for with instinct. He takes great angles on plays and has a nose for the ball. He is surely a leading canidate for DROY and immediately helps the Pack on D. One of the select few impact guys in the draft. |
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
The Raiders had a few trade options, but being able to trade back in the first round, pick up a second rounder, and stay in the top 10 is a real plus. Let's see how this move turns out.
|
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
Arizona traded up to pretty much seal up their player for the future. If they hadn't there was a team that possibly would have taken this player.
|
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
Like, for example, the Raiders
P.S. at the time of this posting, I don't actually know who that player is. |
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
exactly, and buffalo as well
|
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
updated draft order and pick numbers to include the oakland-arizona trade.
|
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
arizona (STaylor21) is up, buffalo (Big C) is on deck.
Please remember to post a reason on the pick as well ;) It's not hard to know why the early picks are being taken, but later on it'll mean that people have to do at least a tiny tiny bit of research beyond just picking random names out of a hat. |

What 7 holes? One filled by Bentley, I'm assuming Winslow will be SOMETHING next year, Braylon Edwards was coming into his own. My original goal was to stockpile picks and get offensive linemen, but there were no trade partners. I have a plan, and we shall see how it pans out. |
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
Vernon Davis is a rare talent at TE. With the 49ers he brings an explosive option for young QB Alex Smith. With a decent receiving core Davis will add WR type speed and will open up big play options for down field threat Antonio Bryant. Davis will be an immediate impact player and will help the weak offense of the 49ers.

front 7, as in DL and LB, if you read the info, Crennel's biggest holes exist on the DL and LB positions (that need starters to fill them). at OL: Shaffer, Bentley (huge FA signings), Andruzzi (big FA from last year), Tucker, Faine.. and Colemen and Hallen are very good backups/spot starters too. So I'm not sure why the browns would be going after OL (when it has no obvious holes and 2 good subs) with a gaping hole at RE, a 32year old LE, a 38 year old DT, 34year old LB, and huge holes at #2 ILB and OLB. |
Re: Mock Draft Commentary

The other was Vernon Davis. Good pick. |
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
where was I when you started this? Can I be the skins?
|
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
two words, Vince Young. Kurt Warner isn't going to be lasting very much longer there, and with all that talent at WR they are going to need a franchise qb to get them the ball, which vince will be.
|
Re: Mock Draft Commentary
After losing Pat Williams and Sam Adams in consecutive years, we, the Buffalo Bills, felt that it was most important to fill the void that these two elite Defensive Tackles left. We feel Haloti Ngata will go a long way to filling our need

Re: Mock Draft Commentary
Jay Cutler is a young QB with a big arm. The Lions have all the weapons they need to have a big play offense, except at QB. Jay Cutler will be a QB who can step right in and lead this offense.
