Signing Winslow

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1791087

Looks like the Browns might have a hard time signing Winslow. Suckers!

cpayne5 04-28-2004 12:11 AM

"The Postons also represent St. Louis tackle Orlando Pace, who was franchised by the Rams and is seeking more money. Other Poston clients include New England cornerback Ty Law, San Francisco linebacker Julian Peterson and Washington linebacker LaVar Arrington. All have had contract problems."

Geez, we should avoid these guys' clients like the plague. We need to have an intervention with LA and convince him to switch agents.

As for Winslow, sounds like he'll be getting his.

JoeRedskin 04-28-2004 12:11 AM

Man, it's two days after the draft and he is already making all the wrong noises. Thank god Williams talked Gibbs out of taking him.

skinsfanthru&thru 04-28-2004 12:13 AM

lebron of football? i'm sorry but basketball is much more of an individual sport than football. and doesn't winslow require someone throwing him the ball for him to be a part of the game?

hi-jinx 04-28-2004 12:31 AM

I said it in another post about the Postons these guys seem to have almost cornered the market on NFL head cases. If they didn't represent Lavar I would say the Skins should have nothing to do with them.

Daseal 04-28-2004 08:38 AM

LeBron never held out. LeBron is actually quite modest, he has a certain cockyness, but you need that. Unlike Carmello Anthony, Lebron doesn't think he's the best player in the league.

Skins fan 44 04-28-2004 10:44 AM

The reason why LaBron never held out (i think) is their is a certain amount that a rookie can make in the NBA. Of course got the max so their was not anything really to negoiate. As far as endorsements LaBron has some good ones but Im sure he missed out on some too thanks to the Poostons. Also look who has the #1 selling jersey in the NBA. Why it is LaBron. Hopefully he did not listen to his agent on that one.

SKINSnCANES 04-28-2004 12:15 PM

you cant argue the fact that the Postons get their clients money, they usually get their clients more money then anyone in the league. But because they want the most money they are going to end up causing more problems. Ty Law, Pace, Arrington...all got record contracts. The stuff with Lavar is whats really giving them a bad name. As well as the rumors that Pace got offered like a 35 million dollar signing bonus, is seeking 28 and they turned it down

Im glad Smoot got new agents, he had them up until a few months ago. That will help our negioations with him.

He already got his money through a $100 million shoe deal.

i know this is a bit off topic but when did i miss anthony saying or acting like he thought he was the best player in the league cuz honestly all i've heard about the guy is how mellow(pun intended) he has been all year especially with the constant comparisions to lebron and himself?

I was wondering the same thing

PSUskinsfan11 04-28-2004 03:07 PM

Kellen winslow the labron of football that might be the most hideous thing I have ever herd. I am sooooo glad we got Taylor he is going to lay him out sometime.

dieselhog 04-28-2004 05:13 PM

All these guys are contract savvy these days. I wouldn't go pissing in the Browns milk until we have Sean Taylor signed.

JWsleep 04-28-2004 05:37 PM

Yeah. Drew Rosenhaus isn't exactly a friendly pushover. Gibbs publicly complimented him at Taylor's press conference. Guess he's trying to set a friendly tone from the get-go.

All these super agents (Sexton, ROsenhaus, Postons, etc) drive a hard bargain and will play down and dirty to get the most out of NFL teams. THat's how they get paid. But the Postons seem to have taken things to a new level.

Carnage 04-28-2004 06:08 PM

I am so sick of this ASSHOLE. Can he go a day without explaining he doesn't want to be a dick, but he has to? The DC press would have eaten this shithead alive.

SKINSnCANES 04-29-2004 12:56 AM

I heard the Postons say that a lot of people had Winslow #1 on their boards, and would take that into account when they state their demands. And that they dont want the traditional 10% over last years number six pick. Right after they said that Winslow said he wanted number 6 money since he was the number 6 player. When you have to make statements about the statements that yoru agents say right from the get go you know your in trouble.

SmootSmack 04-29-2004 04:25 AM

So this is interesting. I wanted to see if Winslow had his own website a la Terrell Owens.

So check out what happens when you visit http://www.kellenwinslow.com/

drew54 04-29-2004 11:37 AM

Um, Kellens link is to a website all about our very own, CLINTON PORTIS?????????????????????

Anyone?

Winskins 04-29-2004 12:12 PM

Hilarious Smootsmack, I guess we can count on KellenWinslow.com being a 'skins (Portis) site for some time.

*Gee, I wonder if someone on this site was involved with this?* ;)

backrow 04-29-2004 02:02 PM

Hilarious!

Good find!

SKINSnCANES 04-29-2004 02:55 PM

haha, thats hillarious. We should start buying up all the players domain names and then telling them for a million bucks we'll give it to them. Yea so its illegal, but only if we are trying to sell it to them. Nothing wrong with us having tribute pages to our favorite playesr, then them asking for the rights to it

Dave Butz Baby! 04-29-2004 03:13 PM

Awesome... if anyone is feeling entrepreneurial, these domains are available right now!

I'll, of course, take my 10% finders fee after the Postons come to buy you out!

:D

SKINSnCANES 04-29-2004 03:16 PM

haha. what about, www.iwishiwasaredskins.com

dont get my wrong, I love Winslow and hes going to be a great player. And honestly, his mouth isnt going to affect his play. Look at Shockey, he called Parcels gay and still was second for rookie of the year ( BEHIND PORTIS )

Carnage 04-29-2004 03:55 PM

Holy cow! Are we going after players now? Could'nt happen to a nicer guy.

JWsleep 04-29-2004 04:50 PM

Wow. THat's hillarious. ANd I thought these Miami guys stuck together...
