UDFA's
Undrafted Free Agents-
Who's available? Anyone know of any D-line talent? Perhaps SnC knows some ballboy from Miami who wasn't drafted in the first round? |
This kid look interesting as an undrafted free agent. He's DE, though too light for full time play. Had 20.5 sacks and 40 tackles for loss in his last 24 games.

There's also Mat Ball http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/mat_ball.
His twin brother (also a UCLA DE) was srafted in the 5th by San Diego. |
Brendon Kennedy DT - University of North Texas http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/brandon_kennedy
|
http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/khreem_smith
Did well in an Oklahoma State platoon. |

Played DT in college, but is projected to play on the OL. 450 lb. bench press! |
jason peters the te/ol from arkansas.....6'4" 330 with hands and an amazing blocker???....sounds like a good h-back to me.

good job, I figured someone would have drafted him, from what I have also heard he could very easily be converted to a o-tackle, with all these samuel's rumor's I would think he would make a lot of sense right now, esspecially as an undrafted free agent, it's not much of a risk. |
Washington To Sign 8 - 10 More Players Tomorrow
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A41727-2004Apr25.html
After the draft, the Redskins started combing through the leftovers and reached agreements with eight to 10 players who will be signed Monday. Gibbs has guaranteed that at least one player not selected in the draft will make it to a Pro Bowl. The draft picks and undrafted free agents will make their practice debuts at a three-day minicamp starting Friday.
Any ideas? |
i hope jason peters from arkansas and some damn d-linemen!!!
|
Amen, PSU. D-linemen
|
Jason Peters and Brandon Kennedy would be nice..Kennedy should be a def. pickup with the DL problems....could possibly pan out....
edit...TE Utecht is still avail... |
Who are these men of mystery??? THe article also says that Gibbs GUARNTEED that one of them would make the pro bowl. I think that's stretching what Gibbs actually said at the minicamp press conference, but I like the idea! Let's hope it's the next Dexter Manley, only without the coke.
Thank god we have a minicamp in 4 days, or I would lose my mind. |
here's a sleeper DE for us..... Ronald Jones DE southern miss 6-3 278.....Emerging talent who continued to improve his performances throughout his two-year career at Southern Mississippi
Standout defensive end at Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College (2000-2001) before transferring to Southern Mississippi
Was a reserve defensive tackle for the first five games of the 2002 season before shifting to strongside defensive end vs. South Florida, starting eight games as a junior
Started every game at that position in 2003
In 26 games with the Golden Eagles, he recorded 106 tackles (63 solos) with 13 sacks for minus-80 yards, 20½ stops for losses of 102 yards, 31 quarterback pressures, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and four pass deflections.
4.81 40 time 410-pound bench press 625-pound squat 355-pound power clean 37-inch vertical jump |
here's another sleeper for us fellas.....
Ronald Jones DE southern miss 6-3 278 4.81 40 410 bench press 625 squat 106 tackles and 13 sacks in 2 years 31 qb pressures improved every year at southern miss and can get to the qb |

At 330lb, he is no h-back. |
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A41727-2004Apr25.html
Any ideas?
i can't wait to see the name of udfa's that we sign and try to figure out which one gibss might have been talking about if he really said that and if the skins r able to sign him. |

Ryan Boschetti , DT, UCLA
At 330lb, he is no h-back.
He run's a 4.9 at that weight which aint bad, he would be a perfect guy when we use our jumbo package, or any other run package for that matter. |

Peters would be are blocking tight end. NOt h-back, h-back needs to have some speed and be a good reciever. THink of h-back as a fullback who's on motion morea and doesn't line up behind the quaterback most of the time. |
shit i meant to quete saden1, my bad
|
Looks like we also signed Billy Strother, OLB, New Mexico....
http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/william_strother The Post says we signed eight players. Wonder who the others are... |
From the Washington Times:
"Washington officials moved quickly after the draft's 255th and final pick to sign 10 undrafted players. Among the take were New Mexico linebacker William Strother, BYU tackle Quinn Christensen and two Maryland players, wide receiver Jafar Williams and safety Dennard Wilson, according to a club official." Quinn Christensen: http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/quinn_christensen Anyone have some scouting reports on the Maryland guys |
sorry guys, all the Miami d-linemen have gone in the first round the last few years, the Eagles took one in the first and mabye 3rd last year. There is one guy that I like, Jason Gaethers, but hes a running back/wide receiver and a return guy. None of which we really need.
Brendon Kennedy DT - University of North Texas http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/brandon_kennedy
This guy sounds like a monster. At height: 5-9, Weight: 336 he is a fire plug, would be impossible to move, at 5-9 he would out leverage all o-lineman. What amazes me about him is he is a good pass rusher, recording 220 tackles (132 solos) with 18 sacks for minus-116 yards. Would be grat for Redskins since they are planning on using the 3-4 defense on ocassion. Earned Sun Belt league Player of the Year honors in each of his last two seasons, unheard of for a NT. The four-year starter has the prefect blend of strength, size and speed to dominate the action in the middle of the field Unlike most nose guards, Kennedy has had considerable success getting to the quarterback throughout his career Started 44 of 48 games for the Mean Green, recording 220 tackles (132 solos) with 18 sacks for minus-116 yards, a conference and school all-time record 65 stops for losses of 215 yards, four fumble recoveries, five forced fumbles and five pass deflections. I think teams have overlooked him just because he is short. |
Most of thesed college guys are restriced from minicamp, though. They have to wait until their school has their graduation ceremonies before attending any NFL camps.
|
the linebacker from new mexico sounds like he could perform well on special teams and possibly work his way into a back up to someone like arrington on.

jafar williams:
http://umterps.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/williams_jafar01.html dennard wilson: http://umterps.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/wilson_dennard00.html last season jafar williams had 14 catches for 201 yards and 3 touchdowns. wilson sounds like he has good awareness and above average tackling abilities but doesn't have the hands to turn a deflection into an int. |
the wr standeford sounds like a very solid wr pickup. i bet from what i saw of him over this past season and his career production, if he's not on the final roster he'll atleast be on the practice squad. anyone know if cloman is being brought back this year or did he sign with another team cuz he showed a lot of promise last preseason 2?

He'd be a great free agent addition, although I think we're set at d-tackle and need to be looking more at rush ends. |
don't really know this site
http://draftdaddy.com/prospects/UDFA.cfm#WAS Washington Redskins DT Ryan Boschetti, UCLA WR Jafar Williams, Maryland S Dennard Wilson, Maryland WR John Standeford, Purdue LB Billy Strother, New Mexico OL Quinn Christensen, BYU I read some rumors about the 'skins signing Jaret Payton, and Peters last night. |
I read some rumors about the 'skins signing Jaret Payton, and Peters last night.
i think that'd make skinsncanes happy with the payton signing and i could see him being a solid backup. and i could see peter's being turned into a fulltime tackle or even backing up rasby as the blocking te. |
Peters signed with Buffalo
|
Would Jaret Peyton sign with us? You would think that he would sign with Da Bears. He for sure would be a fan favorite. But if we got him good for us.
|
I heard the Skins UFA list was supposed to be out today but I cant find anything anywhere. Are they going to put it up tomorrow?
|
As Cush has shown what I read was just rumor. So I guess we'll have to wait to see on Payton.
|

He already is living in the shadow of his father, but too compound that with signing and trying to play with his dad's former team would be an even more incredible weight to bare IMO. |
