Preliminary Nominees for the HOF 2011
OK, it is a long process but you can add more Redskins to the mix with Chris Hanburger:
Story » 2011 Preliminary Nominees - Alphabetical Dave Butz Larry Centers Gary Clark Jack Kent Cooke Henry Ellard Ken Harvey Joe Jacoby Jim Lachey Dexter Manley Charles Mann Brian Mitchell Andre Reed * Gerald Riggs Reggie Roby Deion Sanders J.T. Smith Doug Williams I personally think Hanburger is a lock, and as a senior nominee it is pretty much a yes or no vote. On the others, they have to decide from all of the players listed. I personally think Butz, Jacoby, Manley and Mann should get in at some point, but I don't know if they make it the next couple of years because of all the other Redskins who recently got in. |
Re: Preliminary Nominees for the HOF 2011
Manley is definitely pushing for himself.
|
Re: Preliminary Nominees for the HOF 2011
Brian Mitchell should get some serious consideration.
|
Re: Preliminary Nominees for the HOF 2011
Charles Mann deserves it but likely won't get it.
|
Re: Preliminary Nominees for the HOF 2011
Well, since peter king and others said they interviewed and many teams were more worried about Clark over monk...maybe he should make it too?..
lol |
Re: Preliminary Nominees for the HOF 2011
I think Manley should def get in at some point.
My guess is Hanburger and B.Mitch make the final cut. And what about Jack Kent Cooke and Joe Jacoby. Man, we're going to have a lot of Skins in the Hall baby! |
Re: Preliminary Nominees for the HOF 2011
No one on that list deserves it more than JKC.

Many guys are. When I deal with some of the older HOFers, the subject of who should be in comes in. I know of several guys who have worked on letter writing campaigns. I know one guy who pulled out a leather binder that some friends made up for him with letters of why he should be in the hall. Most of these guys seem worthy, but the problem is there are so many. |

Re: Preliminary Nominees for the HOF 2011
I don't necessarily think Marshall Faulk is a lock -- not immediately anyway. For a 2 or 3 year stretch he was among the very best. Was he dominant in his time? Some might argue yes, but I'd say it's debateable.
His career didn't seem to be very long. |

His career didn't seem to be very long.
I think many people, perhaps yourself included, forget he spent five years in Indy, the first four I believe BP (Before Payton). Maybe even all five. And he had at least 1,000 yards rushing and 400 yards receiving maybe every year he was in Indy. Don't recall exactly |

Yeah! He was drafted by the Colts in 1994 and traded to the Rams following the 1998 season. |
Re: Preliminary Nominees for the HOF 2011
Faulk is a lock, I don't think it's even close. As a dual threat back he was perhaps the best there was in that regard. He could have lined up full time at WR. He had a 5 year stretch where he caught 80 or more balls in each season, and he topped 1300 yards rushing in 4 of those.
Marshall Faulk NFL & AFL Football Statistics | Pro-Football-Reference.com Overall 7 1,000 yard seasons, 767 catches tops a lot of WRs already in the Hall, 12,279 yards rushing, 136 TDs. Lock. |
Re: Preliminary Nominees for the HOF 2011
I think Faulk & The Bus are locks for first ballet. That would make Curtis Martin play the waiting game. I heard before the season that this is D. Dawson's year, but I am not so sure with Bettis up too.
I am willing to bet that Sanders is also first ballet. Shannon Sharpe is also a future HOFer who is on TV which never hurts. Not including Seniors, that means I am predicting Sharpe, Bettis, Faulk and Sanders. My guess is that will be it along with Hanburger and I am unsure about Richter. |
Re: Preliminary Nominees for the HOF 2011
I dont see The Bus as a HOFer.
