EDIT: Now that the thread title changed, the joke doesn't seem funny anymore.

This seems like it could blow up in the faces of whoever goes out and gets him. I like Julius Peppers as much as the next guy, but I don't know that I'd want to be the team who takes the shot at him. I don't think he'll live up to his contract and he probably won't be as good as Orakpo in the 3-4, so I say, the Skins should pass on him.

this doesn't surprise me. peppers is no doubt a very good player. w/out a cap i have a feeling this is going to be 2000 all over again.

Count me among those who fear that Peppers will disappear once he's paid. Over the last couple of years he has had plenty to play for. Yet, despite some flashes, he has gone MIA too often.

Good scheme fit, questionable work ethic, inevitable diminishing returns, contract will look horrendous in 2013.

Basically, you have to decide how viable it is that the team will compete this year. With Blache gone, adding another 7-8 sacks to this defense could be the difference between a fringe playoff contender and a super bowl contender.

I'm not crazy about this. If we're going to break the bank on defense, let's go after Dansby or maybe Rolle.

When I read this on RI this morning I was immediately worried about what Allen, Shanny & Danny are up to. If we go 3-4, we'll need more LBs but we already have a marquee rusher in Rak, who's not there in coverage yet. The other spot needs to be a real OLB that can drop in coverage some. Peppers has never done that. Not to mention his lack of motivation. I agree w/those that say he'll get paid & fall off at times.

After thinking about it a lil more, this could be a smoke screen to drive the price up for him. Then again, I thought that last year w/AH!

good point. but i think adding another 7-8 sacks would be the difference between a 6-10 season and a 7-9 or 8-8 season. i know we all want to be excited, but its stretching things to beleive this team will be a contender in 2010. while i'm not surprised to hear that we plan on pursuing peppers, i cant say i think its a good idea at all. he's over the hill and he'll disappear when he gets paid. just like you said, any contract he signs is going to look really really bad in just a couple of years.

This is my thought as well. If we do go get Peppers, I hope all FA's we sign to front loaded contracts as not to cripple us upon return of the salary cap.

i think it'd be hard for him NOT to produce. Peppers and Orakpo on the outside is a dominant combination. We'd have AH and Fletch holding down the middle. Not bad. I agree with Ruhskins though. For my money, I'd rather use Peppers money to sign Rolle AND Dansby. That defense would be better.

I'm not trying to hijack the thread but why are they moving Lorenzo Alexander to OLB? He's 300 lbs or so. If anything let him compete at guard.

haynesworth is not going to be happy having to play nt. i think he would be sick as a de in a 3-4, maybe picking up mount cody at the top of round 2 to fill the nt spot. and im not convinced about peppers.
