ESPN: Riggins calling out Zorn; and now Snyder
I was just watching ESPN and heard a upcoming story about Riggins and a Redskins legend. Either Sam or Sonny calling our Zorn. This is old news to us here. But I am interested to see what the story on ESPN says. If anyone sees this please post comments. I am waiting for the story to come up.

Re: ESPN: Riggins and a Redskins Legend calling out Zorn
John Riggins is one of my favorite all time Redskins. He also has some strange opinions, so I could care about what he thinks about JZ.
Sonny, I'll listen to a little more. However it's been 2 games let's let JZ do his thing. Either he does or doesn't. I hope he does and i think he can. We'll see though. Haven't seen what espn is doing, but it's probably yesterdays news. |

It's basically audio of Sonny and Zorn's testy little exchange the other day set against the backdrop of the failed Portis halfback pass played over and over again. Then Schlereth basically added nothing by just saying that we've struggled to score and Sonny is a legend in DC. That was it. Pretty weak clip honestly. |

Re: ESPN: Riggins and a Redskins Legend calling out Zorn
I don't know if Sonny is in any position to criticize Zorn. I listen to about half of the games on the radio and have long since reached the conclusion that Sonny has absolutely no idea what is going on, ever. He's only slightly more with it than Sam. Last week, after Carter's fumble recovery, Sammy kept arguing that the roughing the passing penalty was not going to overturn the fumble recovery. And later, when the Skins were winding down the clock down before calling a time out, both Sonny and Sam were baffled by why they were letting the clock run down, assuming that the players didn't realize what was going on. And this stuff happens all the time!

Tony Dorsett's comments on Romo are much mroe interesting and true lol

Re: ESPN: Riggins and a Redskins Legend calling out Zorn
Coach Z is soft as medicated cotton. and the team is taken on that butter soft swagger! The team needs to get a tougher attitude, hopefully a win this week will boost their character!

Re: ESPN: Riggins and a Redskins Legend calling out Zorn
Just finished watching Redskins Legacy. While I love this game and I love this team there will never be another group of players as endearing as those old guys like Monk, Riggo, Huff, C. Taylor, The Hogs, Green etc.. Those days are over not only in DC but in every NFL city and sports in general.

Totally agree with you. The NFL is not the same. Back in the day they worked well together as a team and thats why they kicked the ass that they did. Too many glory hounds and prima donnas out there now. Regardless, I still love the 'Skins. |

Agreed. And how fortunate we were to have been able to experience all of this. Huff and Taylor were a little before my time, but I was right on time for the Super Bowl years. If I had to add to Redskin Legacy, it would be this 3-set DVD. Theismann talks about XVII, Williams about XXII and Rypien XXVI. Gibbs, Clark, Riggo, Grimm, etc. join in too. Re: ESPN: Riggins and a Redskins Legend calling out Zorn
I saw the Sonny piece, and I think his love for the Skins and it's history got the better of him. He's frustrated to. I mean the dude has been calling the games for 30 years.
Sooooo, it's not a well kept secret that some of JZ's play calling is......suspect? It may well get his attention if some of these legends start pointing this fact out..... |
Re: ESPN: Riggins and a Redskins Legend calling out Zorn
I dont know what Sonny is really achieving by all that. He couldve asked Zorn to put himself in Campbells shoes. Would he seriously be cool with a HB pass being called?

Re: ESPN: Riggins and a Redskins Legend calling out Zorn
So did any of these legends called out Spurrier when he was f'ing things up? I have tried to erase that period, don't know if anyone knows any better.

I don't care what Sonny says his service to our organization has been one of long and endearing years and earns him the right to speak out, especially when he makes sense. Sonny has to be pissed about this once proud organization falling and if he needs to speak up to express concerns on the behalf of the fans and community than he is gifted to be in the position that someone might listen to him. Now, let's blow out the Lions and Zorn can shut everyone up!! |
