I think Smith received a fair punishment for his actions. That seems like a smart and fair decision by the panthers upper brass.

He has to learn to be smarter than that, hit him where it counts in the wallet maybe he will think twice before acting out next time.

Yeah, this isn't Steve Smith's first offense. That offense will be anemic for two games.

Did you read the comments afterwards? There was one guy specifically who was saying Lucas is a punk bitch and since steve smith punched him in the face they should just cut LUCAS how ridiculous is that

Well he is their best player, you can practically expect people to stick up for him no matter what he does.

It's a fair punishment for Smith, this isn't the first time this happened and the first time he got suspended for one game, since this is his second punishment they had to up the ante. It's going to hurt them bigtime since they open with San Diego but they had to do it because you can't give him a break for being their best player.

Wow. This certainly says something about the Panthers and their commitment to team chemistry. Kudos to John Fox for not putting up with it.

Did Michael Westbrook receive similar punishment? I honestly can't remember.

Wow, didn't realize Lucas was on one knee when Smith attacked him. What a punk, and I think Westbrook's punishment was the karma that resulted in him tearing up a knee that year.

All I could think when I read this was.... MICHAEL WESTBROOK.... It is absolutely disgusting when teammates fight.

I agree 100% with what Carolina did. Smith is a punk.

According to ESPN's Matt Mosley, the Panthers may consider trading Smith and the Cowboys are contemplating making a run at him. I'd be surprised if the Panthers traded him and I'd be terrified if he landed with the Boyz.

Yikes. That would be an awesome tandem at WR for the 'chips. How many times will Jerry Jones play with lit matches with his team?
