Redskins Improve Penetration, Enjoy More Sacks
Seriously though, all bad puns aside...
We already have 12 sacks through 4 games (compared to 19 all of last year). That's been as big a reason as any for our 3-1 start. Props to our front office for "discovering" guys like Anthony Montgomery, and Chris Wilson. Props to Greg Blache and Gregg Williams for being creative with guys like Demetric Evans. Props to me for hyping up Andre Carter a year before we signed him. No props to me for thinking signing Fletcher was a mistake. |

You sure the title is appropriate? lol.

and the amazing thing is that all of the sacks came from the line today and I don't remember seeing any blitzing at all. looks like those who thought a vastly improved secondary wouldn't help the sack total have been wrong so far. plus the defense is already only 2 ints short of their total from last year. awesome job today all around and Carter is turning into a beast.

Montgomery fell to the 5th round due to perceived lack of work ethic. He always had a 1st round body (6'6" 315 LBS). Perhaps being around veterans like Daniels, Griffin, and Carter is rubbing off on how to prepare like a pro, and play hard every down. Carter has rushed the passer like a man possessed since the final four games of last season. If the Skins add a stud DE on the other side thru the next draft, the defense will be downright scary next season. |

Of course I will take it, but this doesn't mean we are all of a sudden a good pass rushing team. Most of our sacks this season were the result of great secondary work. Very few have been off a pure pass rush. |

Nice job of improving the rush for a change, but much improvement is still needed as we head into GB, NY, and play Dallas. The Lions O line is one of the worst in the league in pass protection. Our guys will have to harass Favre like they did Kitna today in order for us to win next weekend. I think they can do it, but it will be a lot harder against a better O line. |

I realize that 5 were today, but we did what we had to do against a poor offensive line. Something we probably wouldn't have done last year |

That's very true. No doubt that our defense is 50 times better than it was last year. Just goes to show you what a good secondary can do for your entire defense, and how a pass rush can disrupt an offense. |
Re: Redskins Improve Penetration, Enjoy More Sacks
you can't really improve penetration... you either penetrate or you don't... i'm still talking about football.

Carter is becoming very good at pass rushing What worries me is when they abuse him in the running game. Good thing the Lions dont run! Hopefully GW has some sort of solution behind him when they run to his side. So far, it looks like they do |
Re: Redskins Improve Penetration, Enjoy More Sacks
Andre Carter was a FORCE out there today, it was nice to see the front 4 getting pressure all by themselves.

Re: Redskins Improve Penetration, Enjoy More Sacks
Carter almost outscored the Lions all by his lonesome

Re: Redskins Improve Penetration, Enjoy More Sacks
Penetration hah...I get amused easily.

Re: Redskins Improve Penetration, Enjoy More Sacks
Chris Wilson was putting alot of pressure on the Quarterback himself. He almost got there several times.
