I don't know about Wildwood but the Beaches in Monmouth County have always had an alcohol ban.

I stopped going to the beaches in San Diego the day they banned alcohol. The beach is boring and uncomfortable. No point if you can't have some brewskies. At least I was there for the glory days.

Nearly every New Jersey beach makes it illegal to bring open containers – or any alcohol – to the beach. With the exception of some of the beaches at Sandy Hook, you cannot drink on the beach at the Jersey Shore.
